a must see even if the ending is not satisfactory

First of all, I would like to make it clear that I recommend the series to everyone, even if it became more and more of an emotional roller coaster for me towards the end. At the end I was emotionally touched, sad, angry and frustrated because the ending was difficult for me to bear. This in advance.

The series starts rather nicely with some really successful comedy scenes (Tofu on an escalator for the first time or how Nut and Tofu are in the police station).

But the further you look, more and more drama elements are added and in the end it becomes a tragedy. I can't understand what many people see as bitter sweet, it simply filled me with sadness, the authors' resolution was a complete failure. I can't understand them.

Early in the series, there is a hint that Tofu's existence is linked to Tarn's, as Tofu faints and Tarn wakes up, but immediately falls back into a coma when Tofu wakes up.

This problem becomes more and more intense, so that when you watch the last episode you ask yourself more and more, how will this end, how does the series try to resolve this conflict.

The tension created in this way gripped me, but the solution that was then shown shocked and frustrated me. The ending is unsatisfactory in many ways.

Tofu becomes a teddy bear again, Tarn and Nut come together again and everyone praises what a good friend Tofu was and that everyone should have their tofu.

That would be understandable if Tofu was just someone who solved other people's problems. But tofu was more, he was the love of his life for Nut.

As Nut said, Tarn showed me the world, Tofu showed me the beauty of the world.

The series shows us a beautiful love between Tofu and Nut that simply doesn't deserve to end like this by murdering Tofu. Neither Tarn nor Tofu's rebirth as a teddy bear can replace her.

Nut will have a deep scar on his heart and soul for life, even though he may be able to live a happy life with Tarn. You don't forget your loved ones even if you move on with your life.

But here the script also makes a huge mistake, as we see how the love between Nut and Tofu develops and forms a wonderful couple (the scene in the cosmetics department where Na says, Tofu is also my son, the three of us are a family is adorable) , you can't find much depth about the love between Tarn and Nut.

It's just a first love and we talk about it because the first love is rarely the only and last one in life. What we see is a high school romance. A senior who has a relationship with a junior and supports him in a hostile environment and helps him to be at peace with himself and his homosexuality.

We see little deep love, more romantic infatuation, which is destroyed by a hostile environment.

After Nut ends the relationship because of his parents, not only the relationship but also all contact is ended. While it is said that Tarn never got over Nut, apart from one visit in 10 years, nothing happened.

And Nut once said that he wanted to see him again, to apologize for ending the relationship, but nothing more. But what prevented him from doing this within 10 years?

Tofu as a teddy bear acts not just as a loving reminder of a person who supported you he becomes the love of Nuts life.

Especially since the plot is structured in such a way that one can have doubts about how things would have turned out for the two of them as a couple. Tarn first studied far away in Chiang Mai and later went to Japan for years. How would the relationship have developed under these circumstances?

Ultimately, this is in contrast to the other statement that the aim is not to repair the past, but to move forward. But here the two take a step back and want to act as if they were meant to be forever. They try to correct the mistakes of the past instead of simply reconciling and keeping in their hearts the beauty of their time together.
I went into this a little longer because I wanted to show that this relationship is perceived more as a romantic first love than as the love of life.

Because Nut experienced this with Tofu, who for him was not only someone who solved his problems, but with whom he experienced the beauty of the world.

So what can I find in an ending in which he continues his life and finds new happiness. Tofu's murder will always haunt him. He has come to terms with it so that it is not an obstacle in life, but that doesn't mean that everything is good.

But I can't be happy about the ending for Tofu either. From a teddy bear who loves his owner like a child, he develops over the course of the series into a person who feels pain and suffering, but also joy and true love.

If the plot then wants us to believe that Tofu is happy with the situation, that is superficial and unbelievable.

Because at the beginning, as Tofu develops more and more into a human, he describes how happy he is that he doesn't just have to wait passively until Nut approaches him, but that he can now approach him himself and hug him or can even kiss.

How is he supposed to seriously cope with being relegated to the passive role of a teddy bear? Especially since bad things can happen in the future, what if Tarn cheats on Nut in front of Tofu and he just has to watch passively in the corner.

I feel like the writers didn't deal enough with grief and loss, which is also evident in Song and his father. I don't know how I would react if I saw someone who looked like my recently deceased father or older brother, who died with 13 years old.. But I couldn't feel much happiness about it, because a person is more than his looks. Nevertheless, this part was partly successful because I experienced the same thing as Song and experienced his pain of not being able to replace his brother. I almost had to cry here because even though it was almost 50 years ago, my soul is still hurt. Don't get me wrong, my parents never behaved like Song's father, but those feelings are just there, I couldn't give my parents grandchildren either.

The only winner of the ending is Tarn, he was able to win back Nut here at the end. Everyone else lost and that makes me angry, sad and frustrated. Maybe they were afraid a solution that would let Tofu stay human and still wake up Tarn would be too cheesy.

But the way the ending is now, they structured the plot poorly and didn't think enough about the feelings when you lose a loved one.

That's often the problem with series and films, they build up a tension that makes you excited for the end and then they offer such a poor solution that doesn't do justice to the previous tension.

So now I've gotten my shit off my chest, like I said, watch the series, despite the unsuccessful ending, the series moved me deeply and I probably wouldn't have written anything about it if it was crap.

I will definitely watch it again, the love story between Tofu and Nut is too good for that. You can fast forward to Sidecouple and maybe you won't watch the last episode during the review.
