A decent movie.

Dirty Money is a medium-paced crime movie with a predictable plot twist for a reason. It's no bullshit and somewhat meant to be thought-provoking. Is it okay to steal corrupted money for good reasons? This polarising question will ensue debates, but for Myungdeuk and Donghyuk, dirty money is dirty money.

The movie has an interesting premise with a good execution. The storyline is simple and easy to follow, and the plot progression is well-written. It's climatic and has a conclusive ending that made me slightly emotional. It's narrated in a way that makes us want to empathise with the main characters, and that's what I felt towards the end. It has decent camerawork and cinematography, and the cast did well. There was enough suspense, making the thriller effective. The whole time, I was scared that Myungdeuk and Donghyuk would get caught.

Unfortunately, I lost my interest halfway through because of a pacing issue. Sometimes it's slow, and sometimes it's fast, thus why I categorised this as a medium-paced movie. This inconsistency sometimes bore me and made me lose my focus. Therefore, this movie isn't engaging enough. Also, the movie could've gone further with the bloody scenes. Aside from shooting scenes, they didn't show us the scenes of captives getting killed. Such as when Mr Shin was killed. I understand if they want to keep the gore mild, but the sound effects were vivid. So they have nothing to lose if they show us the slashing and beheading scenes.

I recommend Dirty Money to people looking for a filler crime movie. It's not the most thrilling action movie, but it's decent and good enough to be watched.

Touching.

Shotai is a slow-paced movie with a happy, satisfying ending. It's sad, intense, and makes you emotional. I was mostly agitated because I was scared for what was about to come and was rooting for Kaburagi, but it was worth the suspense.

The acting is magnificent, and the cast are excellent in their roles. I could feel their emotions through the screen, such as the fear in Jump's eyes and the regret in Mai's face. The camerawork and cinematography is beautiful. I was immersed and amazed by the beauty of Japan in some shots.

What I love the most about this movie is that it reflects how corrupt and incompetent the police are. I hope justice will prevail for the falsely accused, especially the death row inmates.

I wish they showed what happened to the police involved in Kaburagi's case, but the ending is good enough for me to pay no mind to it.

Even though it takes a long time for the story to unfold and the truth to unravel, Shotai remains an engaging and intriguing watch. I recommend this movie to people who don't mind a slow-paced watch, especially those looking for a drama-centred crime movie.

Ridiculously fun!

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is an apocalypse movie you should watch without expectations because you're getting more than zombies. I didn't expect to see Kamen Rider in action and The Meg with eight legs. I thought it was too much, but I ended up liking it. It's ridiculous and over the top, but once you consider it an unserious movie, it's fun. Therefore, if you plan to watch this movie, remember that the key to enjoying it is not taking it seriously.

The actors and actresses did well, especially the ones who became zombies. Despite looking slightly animated, the way they move is uncanny. However, some could do more in emotional scenes. It was a little bit awkward when Shizuka was doing her speech. It felt flat and uninspirational, unlike her speech. Akaso Eiji is the perfect fit for Akira. He's a great actor, and he brought Akira's personality alive.

The movie is far from perfect. Some characters make dumb choices, but I'm glad most showed character growth. Also, it doesn't make sense for Akira, Shizuka, and Kencho to play with fireworks, knowing that zombies are attracted to noise. Mind you, the movie has a scene of zombies getting baited by the sound of fireworks.

Overall, I recommend Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, especially to people looking for something upbeat and fun. Just be prepared for the endless ridiculousness you'll see.

The could've been and the what ifs.

Maybe Today is a medium-paced movie about a realist who risked it all for his idealist crush. It's mildly melancholic and makes you think about the what-ifs.

I feel sombre after finishing this movie. Things could've gone differently if only the characters were courageous to follow their heart. I feel annoyed at Harold and AM, but I understand why neither took their chance.

I enjoyed the movie. It is engaging, and the plot is easy to follow. The storyline is simple, and it focuses on the main characters. It doesn't stray from their relationship development. There is character development, but it takes a while to arise because it happens at the end. The acting is superb, and the cast is proficient at exuding emotions with their eyes. You can see in Harold's eyes that he's fond of AM and yearn for her.

However, I feel like the movie could've done better. It could've shown us how the band struggled to make it in the music industry. Most of the time, the scenes only tell us that the band isn't getting any gigs. I would love to see how AM contacted her labels and how the band received rejections. After all, music is a significant component of the movie.

There's nothing special about this movie. It's a filler movie, but I recommend it to people looking for a sad-toned watch that isn't too heavy.

A beautiful love story.

Third World Romance is a medium-paced slice of life with a happy ending. The movie tells the reality of living in a country with a broken system through the glasses of Britney and Alvin. It shows the unfairness they have to go through, the discomfort they have to bear, and the hard decisions they make to survive.

The movie has a lot of romantic and heartwarming moments. I often felt warmth surging, even when Britney and Alvin shared simple moments, such as making their version of the Korean BBQ experience with homemade food. The excellent performance by the cast made their love believable. Their chemistry is superb, and they brought the couple's love alive. It felt real and raw. The relationship takes time to grow, so it doesn't feel forced.

The movie is well-written and has good dialogue that criticises the broken system, society's expectations for women, and many more. The topics flow naturally in the dialogue and don't sound preachy. Therefore, you can understand everyone's train of thought and relate to their struggles. Additionally, the couple shows character growth, which makes the ending satisfying.

There's nothing I particularly dislike about this movie, but I wonder if things would have been different if Britney knew Alvin pretended to be Sir Dodong in the beginning. The movie said nothing about this, but I guess it's not that important.

Overall, Third World Romance is easily a beautiful and recommendable movie. I added it to my list of comfort movies. It will remind me that no matter how hard life drags me down, everything will work out in the end.

I'm glad for the ending.

OMG! Oh My Girl is a slow-paced romance movie with light comedy. For future viewers, you should know this movie has emotional and physical cheating. Even though the cheating isn't between the main characters, it's still worth mentioning.

My watching experience had been fun but frustrating. I'm appalled by the choices the characters make. When I thought there was character growth, the characters took a step back.

Despite the constant 'What the fuck were you thinking?', my eyes were glued on the screen from the beginning until the end. This movie piques your interest, maintains your focus, and immerses you in Guy and June's love story. Knowing the nature of their relationship, I didn't root for them, but I understand why others would. Mainly because they share many sweet, funny moments.

It doesn't have an open but conclusive ending to me. I love the ending not because it happens in real life but because it's what both deserve. It's bittersweet, but I believe it's the right choice. Therefore, I'm satisfied with the ending.

The camerawork is excellent, especially during the funny scenes. The comedic timing is perfect. The cinematography is okay, and the colour grading is nice. The sound effects and soundtrack are appropriate and pleasant. I like the styling. They distinguish the characters and their personality. Lastly, the acting is just right. The acting isn't Oscar-worthy, but they make you feel things. I could feel Guy's sadness and June's frustration with herself throughout the movie.

Overall, OMG! Oh My Girl is a good movie. I recommend it to people looking for a romance movie and don't mind a bittersweet ending.

Fuck rapists and child predators.

Officer Black Belt is an action-packed movie with a thrilling and angering storyline. It was hard to watch in one sitting because I had to take pauses, especially during scenes where children were involved. I'm weak when it comes to children hurting. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the movie from the beginning until the end.

I love how the movie reflects the dark and disgusting reality of living in this forsaken world. It doesn't sugarcoat shitty laws that protect perpetrators and how it fails to protect victims.

The movie is fast-paced and has a somewhat conclusive ending. I wish we knew what happened to the rapists. Of course, I want them to suffer, and in my version of the ending, they are burned twice. In here and in hell.

Aside from good camerawork, the cast did well. I got emotional in some scenes and cried. Additionally, the fighting choreography is superb and believable. I like how they don't make any characters undefeatable. They're humans, after all, not immortals.

However, I think the writing is lacking. It was frustrating when the cops were late to call for backups. Am I supposed to believe ankle monitors get cut easily? Also, I can't ignore how weird it is that nobody called the police during the final fighting scene. These details were frustrating.

Even though Officer Black Belt is entertaining, you shouldn't watch it for the comedy. It is a must-watch, and I recommend it to people looking for an action movie.

For the simple and lighthearted movie lovers.

The Bros is a lighthearted family movie with a plot twist that will awe you, break your heart, and mend it again with the heartwarming brotherhood. The story is fun and engaging, and I watched it in one sitting. It's nothing incredible, but it's a movie you can't go wrong with.

I didn't find it that funny. Perhaps, if I am fluent in Korean, I will get the jokes better. I wish there were more scenes with Aurora, especially towards the end. I think it will be much more emotional. But considering the lighthearted tone the movie is going for, I can overlook it.

Although the story is simple, it is hard to remember the supporting characters. There were too many of them. It took me a while to understand the family hierarchy and remember who is who. However, this movie remains worth the watch.

I recommend this movie to people looking for something light and unserious.

Overwhelming characters, underwhelming watching experience.

Election is a slow-paced gangster movie about The Triad that is beginner-friendly. It deep dives into the gripping and intimidating process of selecting the chairman of criminal syndicates and summarises the organisation's history, structure, and culture. It's gritty, cutthroat, and has an intriguing storyline.

However, I didn't enjoy the movie as much as I loved the premise. I often feel overwhelmed by the number of characters thrown into a scene. I get that it emphasises how huge the number of members The Triad has, but at a point, it gets confusing. I often forgot who was who and who they worked for. Also, aside from Uncle Teng, the supporting characters lacked backstories or distinguishable personalities that made them forgettable. If not for the hospital gown, I wouldn't have remembered what Whistle looked like. By the time the nine brethren came together, I could only identify Big D, Lok, and Jimmy among them.

As a gangster movie, I expected more ruthless, unforgiving scenes. The movie did well with the SFX, and I was impressed by how the blood and scars looked real, but despite being an action-packed movie, the action scenes aren't thrilling enough. The fighting choreography is dull and uneventful, which I expected more when it comes to a gangster movie. The tensions building up to the climax aren't suspenseful enough, and the ending is predictable. There's nothing wrong with a predictable ending, but the lack of thrill made the watching experience underwhelming and less satisfying.

However, despite the lack of tension and suspense, the movie addressed the organisation's internal conflict well with relentless twists and turns. Every character, although some were forgettable, has clear motivations. The casting is excellent. The actors and actresses brought their characters alive. Especially Tony Leung, who played Big D. The fact that I wanted to shout at Big D so badly shows that he knows how to portray an annoying, overbearing character who doesn't know how to shut up.

Altogether, I neither like or dislike it. The movie offers an intimate look at the bribery and power play in The Triad and serves you a bleak but realistic ending. It's not a must-watch, but I recommend this movie to people looking for a beginner-friendly movie about The Triad. Despite the overwhelming number of characters, as long as you remember Lok and Big D, you'll catch up with the plot just fine. I don't recommend this movie if you're looking for a gruesome gangster movie that doesn't shy away from bloody and violent scenes.

The ending almost ruined it for me, if not for the sequel's existence.

Alienoid 1 is an alien invasion movie with an interesting premise. I thought the amalgamation of genres and different timelines would make the movie confusing and disengaging, but surprisingly, it's easy to follow and understand the story. It's fast-paced and action-packed, with an open ending that promises a continuation. If I had watched this without knowing there was a second movie, I would've been less satisfied with the ending, as it would have reduced my watching experience.

The movie has a superb casting with remarkable actors and actresses. The characters aren't one-dimensional, but besides Muruk, the character development barely exists. Perhaps they will focus on character growth in the second movie. However, every character has a clear motivation, and the conflict is well-defined. There aren't noticeable and distracting filler scenes, and the events leading up to the climax are interconnected, so no scenes feel out of place. The world-building is fun and accentuated by good visual and sound effects. They made the whole watching experience engaging and immersive.

I didn't like how they go back and forth with scenes from the past, present, and future. It got annoying and affected my watching experience because the scenes weren't seamless. I also don't like how the movie offers no resolution to the conflict, mainly because of the cliffhanger. On that account, I think the movie would've been better as a series. After all, some supporting characters deserve a complete backstory, such as the shapeshifter cats. Also, we should know what happened during the years Ean grew up.

Overall, Alienoid 1 is an engrossing movie. It's watchable, and I recommend it, especially to those looking for a sci-fi that is easy to follow. It's not a must-watch, but remains worth your time.

The only good thing about the movie is the cast. The cast performed well, especially Shin Soyool. The camerawork and cinematography are decent. The editing is okay, and the sound and visual effects are adequate.

Overall, the movie is underdeveloped. The Ghost Station is not a must-watch and should be considered a filler movie. Creepy, not scary.

Death Whisperer is a supernatural horror movie that, unfortunately, falls under the creepy but not scary category. It's medium-paced because of the uneven pacing and has a predictable, inconclusive ending that I assume will be perfected in the second movie. The storyline has the potential to be great if not for the lack of depth and development. Therefore, you have to watch this without the expectation of watching an impeccably written, frightening story.

The movie is creepy for so many reasons. They're not shy with the blood and showing us organs. There are a lot of disgusting scenes, so make sure you're not eating while watching the movie. If you can, watch it on an empty stomach. I made the wrong decision of watching it post-meal, and I gagged on a scene that involved a tooth. The sound effects were vivid in these disgusting scenes and often made my skin crawl, such as the thick, slimy sound of vomited blood on the truck scene.

The actors and actresses did well and knew how to bring characters alive. The camerawork and cinematography are good. I was impressed by the scene at the cornfield. The camera work is superb in that particular scene. It doesn't have a soundtrack, so there's nothing much to be said about it.

Although I don't categorise this as a scary movie, there are times when things get chilly. It happens during build-ups. The build-up scenes are full of tension and suspense. However, when we reach the scene where the evil spirit shows its form, it falls short and disappointing. 'That's it?' was my reaction most of the time. It feels anti-climactic. Even the climax wasn't climactic. I blame it on scenes being predictable. I predicted many things that came true, and it lessened my watching experience. I get bored at times. At a point, I just wanted to get it over with.

Also, the ghost design and visual effects aren't terrifying or impactful. They're just disgusting. It's not terrible, but I feel like for a movie that knows how to build suspense, they could pour more effort into making the scene with the ghosts scarier. Possessed Yam is more spine-chilling than actually looking at what possessed her. Kudos to the actress who played Yam! She's a great actress.

Overall, Death Whisperer was an okay but unsatisfying watch. It's not a must-watch horror movie. However, it's decent enough for you to watch it. If you get scared easily, you'll enjoy this movie. However, if you are a thrill-seeker or used to watching horror movies like me, there's a high chance you won't find this movie entertaining or satisfying. Just watch it as a filler movie.

Could be better.

Para Kang Papa Mo is a heart-warming movie with an ending I wish had gone differently. The movie may come off as preachy, but there are lessons we can learn from it.

The story is simple and has a good premise. Although the jokes didn't land and I barely laughed, I enjoyed watching it. I had a good watching experience, considering the story was easy to follow, and I was rooting for the main characters to achieve their dreams. It had some emotional moments, and I cried at the end.

The writing isn't good enough. There should be more moments between Anton and Hermione to make the story more impactful. Their scenes aren't enough. Also, it overused certain profanities. I'm not saying there shouldn't be profanities, but it's boring to listen to the same word repeatedly. However, I liked the dialogues related to faith.

It's not a must-watch, but people looking to watch a simple filler movie can watch this.
