Hi!! My name is Shyanne!
I accidentally discovered kdramas in 2014, with my first drama being Boys Over Flowers. I feel like many people's first kdrama is Boys Over Flowers lol. To be honest, I did not know that show was in Korean hahaha.
After completing that series, I ended up stumbling upon My Love from the Stars and LOVED it. I began to search for other kdramas aimlessly. Since then, I have watched over 100 kdramas.
I don't watch a lot of kdramas like I used to, but I still watch some occasionally.
My favorite kdramas are:
- Strangers From Hell
- My Mister
- Hello, My Twenties! (Age of Youth)
- Mouse
- My Name
- Kingdom
- Signal
- Move to Heaven
- Reply 1988
- Prison Playbook
I usually watch psychological thrillers, but I also enjoy slice-of-life shows!
My Rating Scale:
10 - These movies/tv shows are 99-100% perfect. I can watch them again, and I always recommend them. They don't necessarily have to be "masterpieces."
9 - I loved it, but there are one or two minor things holding it back. It's almost perfect.
8 - Great movie/tv show but has a couple of problems. I could watch it again.
7 - Good, but nothing groundbreaking. I enjoyed it. I wouldn't tell anyone not to watch it, and I don't regret watching it.
6 - It's alright. I don't like or dislike it. I would probably never watch it again.
5 - A movie/tv show with lots of problems but some good parts.
4 - Awful. Only some parts had me entertained. I can only remember a couple of scenes.
3 - Bad storyline, acting, writing, etc.
2 - Forgettable.
1 - Unwatchable. Absolute shit.
*MyDramaList ratings are super subjective. 10/10 movies and tv shows don't have to be literally perfect with no flaws whatsoever. They're not flawless, but it's just that anything wrong with them didn't detract from my enjoyment. I can overlook their flaws and still really enjoy watching them. Those movies and tv shows are masterpieces TO ME. Some films will be a 10/10 because of the acting, story, cinematography, etc., but I might give them an 8/10 rating just because the genre might not be my favorite. There will also be films that I rate higher than I would've just because I enjoyed them so much. At the end of the day, ratings come down to personal preference.*
