It's not the most faithful book-to-drama adaptation, but it's currently one of- if not the best- E-sports Cdrama (imo).

I highly recommend TKA to E-sports/Gaming fans, fans of the E-sports drama genre who aren't exactly looking for anything romance-centered, and QZGS readers who can't exactly visualize what Glory would look like. Or... if you simply want to watch for Yang Yang (who I believe is perfect to play the role of Ye Xiu) go for it!

I discovered QZGS through this live-action. So after watching the drama the first time, I watched the donghua, read the novel, and watched this again. There were a lot of changes character-wise and plot-wise but the heart of the story remains: Glory. It's a thrilling and heartwarming story about teamwork and friendship, it's about how one of the best players in the professional scene fights to the peak of Glory with his team. This LA brought my beloved characters and the game to life and I think that it's a pretty realistic take on the QZGS Universe.

But as I've mentioned, they made changes to the characters. I don't mind the changes made to the players and their in-game characters' appearance, although it would've been nice to see the god-level accounts retain their original designs. What I do dislike are the changes made to the characters' personalities like An Wenyi, Wu Chen, and Chen Guo who said and did things that are ooc in the LA. Although it wouldn't be much of a problem to those who haven't consumed the story in other forms (save for the first-timers who said they found Chen Guo to be annoying and incompetent) it might bother those that have. The LA also includes subplots/storylines that don't happen until much later in the story, I don't mind this either but if they plan to make another season, I'm not quite sure what they'd do to replace the patch they took out.

Overall, The King's Avatar is such a unique story and I don't think anything will ever come close. It's a flawed adaptation, yes, but it's very dear to me and I'm so glad I found it.
