Hi, I'm an avid lakorn watcher who's been at it since 2019. The first Thai series I ever watched was Love Sick The Series 2, though the gateway drama that got me into lakorns was Kluen Cheewit. Since then I have been mainly into Thai lakorns, although I will check out other regional dramas every once in awhile.
I like to write reviews on lakorns that I've watched, although they're more like my final thoughts and feelings on what I liked and what I didn't like. I like to write a lot and it's quite cathartic to put down everything. I like how I can look back on some of these and re-live the moments of what I felt, similar to a journal.
Now that I've watched a decent amount, I've developed a sense of my likes and dislikes, which I will talk about below:
Likes
- Believable romance. Now, this is my main motivation to watch and a deal-breaker that will make me either enjoy or dislike a lakorn. If the romance is good, then there is a lot I can forgive.
- Cohesive plot. I don't just focus on romance; I watch lakorns as a whole. A good story will make a good romance even better. It doesn't have to be innovative, it just has to make sense.
- Likeable/meaningful secondary cast. I really prefer when the secondary cast add to the plot or are at least likeable.
- Good OSTs. A good OST will get me to watch lakorns I otherwise wouldn't have considered watching.
Dislikes
- Plot that doesn't make sense or character inconsistency. Big no-no. Very insulting to my intelligence.
- Story that goes on with no good reason why. A big waste of time especially with how long these episodes already are.
- A forced romance between our leads because they're the main leads. Better not to have a romance at all.
- Insta-love. I can be more forgiving, but in general not a fan.
- Inappropriate use of music. Will drive me bonkers.
In general, I do try to finish a drama to the end even if I'm not enjoying it, just to see if it does get better later on. I also feel that I can't give a complete review if I don't watch the whole thing. It would have to be really bad or boring for me to stop.
My all time favorite drama is Maturot Lohgan, no question. Only lakorn so far that I would watch from start to finish. Personal faves that I would make the effort to re-watch out of what I've watched so far are Muean Khon La Fark Fah, Wanida and Ubathteehet.
Anyway thanks for reading this little blurb and happy drama watching!
