Amazing plot/story, lacklustre performance

I did thoroughly enjoy this show; I really liked the it was 10 full length episodes. That it majority stuck to the Manhwa, which is one of my favourites. The cinematography was impeccable. What I liked the most was the plot/story which made up for the lacklustre commitment to romance.

I feel like Gongchan wasn't fully committed to the execution of the romance. I felt a lot of the time he was uncomfortable with physical interactions. I don't know if he was told by the director to play it like this. He played the emotional dialogue really well. I felt like he played his character as if he did generally like Yoon Tae Joon and I felt his guilty/remorse when he did Tae Joon wrong but when it came to the hugging he didn't really grasp/hold onto him tightly enough to express the emotion that is intended. There was that separation between their heads instead of leaning onto Tae Joon shoulder. And then I think we can ALL agree on the kisses. The classic dead fish kiss. Why, oh why is that still a thing?!?! After Our Dating Sim, that is my expectation. If they had committed themselves like the actors in Our Dating Sim that this would have blown me out of the water and I'd happily consider this my favourite KBL. But again Gongchan looked like he was uncomfortable.

It isn't fair to put it all on Gongchan, like I mentioned already it could have been how was directed to play it and then again it could have been Cha Seo Won. But I swear by it, I did see somewhere an article of Cha Seo Won say that playing a gay character is no different than playing a straight character. I know I have no evidence of this, I've tried finding it again but I just can't come across it again. So I'm bias towards Cha Seo Won because I do believe he would have gone all in if it wasn't for Gongchan being uncomfortable, if he was or not, or Gongchan being told to play it locked lip.
To sum up I just needed a little bit more commitment to the physical affection. Don't do the dead fish kiss if you're not going to fully commit. The hug would have been enough IF that was executed fully.

I am little sad that they didn't fully flesh out the story between Donghee and Hotae. There was a lot more context in the Manhwa. They didn't even show the back story explaining why Donghee is like that towards Hotae. Even with the little time we did see of them I really did enjoying seeing Hotae commitment towards Donghee. Their interactions were solid. I could really feel how much Hotae liked Donghee and wanted to make it up to him.

Also, if you're not going to include the story about the rings don't have them wear it and make it a thing.

Did anyone else see the message at the end? "Thank you to all the viewers who have loved Unintentional Love Story so far" WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!
