I LOVE THIS SERIES!
What a bunch of grumblers writing some of these reviews! Stop complaining. This show is as cute a Thai BL romantic comedy as I have seen. It's not meant to be a drama or a social commentary, it's just meant to be fun. It's not perfect, the plot might be a bit far-fetched, but not a single series I've watched is flawless or makes entire sense, for goodness sake!
What a talent NuNew is! He can sing and play beautifully, and boy, can he act. I'm actually watching the series through for the second time and I'm seeing the finer nuances of his performance. For one who is still so young, he's just so good! And his pairing with Zee is wonderful. One of my other favorite BL series is Why R U? in which Zee also stars. He is a good actor and he is beautiful to look at. (In episode 3 of CP when he's sitting on the edge of his bed in nothing but... well, enough of that!). His role in WRU called for more expression than his role here (though I'm catching more expression on my second viewing). He's great!
It's also great to see Max and Nat again and to see them as a couple as Hia Yi and Diao. I admit I was a little disturbed by the idea of two men who are supposedly in their mid-twenties having two young lovers who are basically still teenagers, but both couples are just so cute together, especially as the secrets they are hiding from one another are revealed and they come to understand each other better.
As for the other characters and actors, for the most part they are peripheral to the story and serve little purpose, especially the members of Kuea's automotive engineering class team, but they still play their parts well. I particularly like Yim as Syn, the Buddhist wisdoms-quoting monk-in-the-making, and the rest of the team's 'satu' responses to him. It's so fun. As for his budding relationship with Nuer, they are cute but not integral to the main story.
The direction and pacing of this show is better than in other series. It's tighter and there aren't so many long pauses and repetitive action views. There are a few scenes that don't add a lot of value to the show, and--for me--there is a bit of plot confusion in the latter episodes concerning the secrets and who knows what, but overall the plot moves along logically and smoothly.
Truly I love this series more with the second viewing and I expect I'll watch again. Watch it with an expectation to enjoy the fun and I think you will.
