Questionable "strong" and "independent" lead
Oriental medicine meets western medicine
Old vs new
History vs present day
Time travel
It seems the show runners wanted to cram everything all at once into this drama. And it's okay no problem.
But I am dropping this because of the characterizations.
The series tries to tout a "strong and independent" female lead but drives it in a disappointing direction.
While her becoming a doctor in an almost male dominated profession is certainly remarkable, her character seems to have been written to supposedly embody typical behaviours of what present society considers to be a strong independent woman. This is all well and good if her character is consistent about it. From the initial episodes all I could see was an arrogant and abusive woman who takes sh*t from others and pours all of her frustrations on the male lead. She finds every excuse to throw a tantrum at the male lead and the viewer is supposed to take that as "strong independent woman" behaviour and be grateful for it.
