overall impression: cruise control watching

okay so 5/10 which might seem really bad at first, but i'm just stingy with my stars.

pros of the episode (and show so far):
-Yoon Shi-yoon as Lee Whi, Prince Eun Sung
-his friendship with his two "bodyguards" -- not really sure if that's what they are, but they were his friends and I love the chemistry between the three of them and  I think there's a love line between the two friends so I'm kind of delighted to see how that plays out (if that's indeed what's in the cards for them)

There are no huge cons, it's just that the rest of the show for me just left me feeling "meh". If you've watched a lot of historical dramas this was pretty much just your standard, setting the backstory between the relationships (lee whi's with his older brother and pretty much everyone around them). A good portion of the episode was spent in a flashback to help give you an idea of how the dyanmic between the two brothers began and while I think it was helpful I'm also kind of tired in childhood flashbacks in dramas, but that's just a personal preference.

If you're interested in this for the romance---you do get to see a heartwarming scene between the female + male lead but not much screen time with them to be honest. However, you still get shown exactly how much they mean to each other and how dedicated they are to each other--although that's clearly going to be tested so I see a lot of separation and anxiety in their future.

All in all an average episode for me personally and I can see myself watching this as a time pass or out of curiosity to see if things pick up in the next few episode but definitely not sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens. However--if you're interested in the show definitely recommend you give it a go and check it out for yourself :)

Excited for what's in store.

Delightful. I loved that the Prince at such a young age was aware of what was going on politically, cared about his people and wanted to rule in a righteous and just manner. Not only was he knowledgable about who he needed to be weary of--I loved that he was proactive in stepping in when  Minister Min was trying to get the King's signature.  It makes me excited to see him grow into his own and look forward to some awesome scenes and great strategizing. Alsoooo how cute was their budding little romance?

Three Stars

Couldn't get past the first episode because of the female lead. She's adorable and a lot of the episode I was all for her but there two scenes that really turned me off and I just didn't really care to see what happened to her--although I do feel for the boys in the band she's in and hope their (and her dreams) come true. I never had a problem with youth dramas before but I found that the scenes that I didn't like with the lead actress were ones where I viewed her as acting very immature or overly dramatic--ie. declaring her love for this guy based on staring at his face for 5 minutes in the park. I also didn't like that she messed up both of the band try outs for the band and felt more for the boys that had their hopes on her than I did for her--and I know the Show obviously wanted to see her plight and vulnerability and feel for what she's going through---but I was just annoyed that for the second time in one episode she busted a tryout and the boys just had to walk away. And then the only reason she could muster courage to sign--was because this guy she's convinced she's in love with was leaving? Sorry, she really is adorable and I'll look forward to her new dramas but I just didn't care much for the character at that point.

Gave the episode itself 3 stars because everything else was pretty great--but what can I say if I can't get behind one both of the leads then the drama isn't worth it for me.
