Takeaway? None.

There were plot holes right from the beginning, but I was stubborn on setting aside my prejudices and waiting it out until the final episode to reach a conclusion on my perspective of the drama. There were moments in between when I was ready to drop it, but since I was almost there I decided to tell myself to not give up and stick through for the final couple of episodes. Don't get me wrong, this is not a crappy drama or anything, but is it a great drama? Is it a must watch? Will I recommend it? Nope.

I don't really feel like there was a takeaway from this drama at all. I don't think every drama needs to have one, but when they don't I would expect that they compensate in some other aspect. The absence of a message could have been overlooked then, but here the lacking was too evident that it left the viewer unsettled. At the end of the drama I found myself questioning whether I wasted 12hrs of my life on nothing. Personally I hope they never get back together because they don't open up to each other. It was ridiculous how they had been in a relationship for so long, even got married AND divorced and yet she didn't know about the sister. Eunbeom is a character who loves to keep things in (even the part where he overheard Hara's and her mom's phonecall and misunderstood it the way he wanted) and would never try to resolve it. This would only create more miscommunication between them and lead to more fights. I am a person who loves open endings. But with this drama the opening ending felt so unsatisfying. I would rather have preferred for them to give us a proper closing with some clarity. Overall, I am disappointed.

Worth your time

Is it an exceptional movie? Not really. But was it worth my time? yes! Everyone has their own taste and so my review is obviously more subjective than objective. But I'm here to share what I felt after watching the movie.

Usually these types of films are more centered around the criminal's life and his reasonings and what not. While we want the victim to survive, what really keeps the audience locked in is often the story of the psychopath. This film took up the challenge of doing the reverse. While Im Siwan plays an important character there's really nothing we understand of his character. While it can be a put off to some viewers, I really liked the fact that they tried to take the rare route with this film. The story is truly victim centered as we learn a lot about Chun Woohee's character and her environment. And due to this, it is her story and her story alone. No other victims of his is discussed in detail, as his crimes and his story is deemed as unworthy of screen time by the crew. And personally, I commend their choice. It is very risky as most audience who come to watch films like this have expectations, and this film will be unsatisfying to such people. But I am glad they took that gamble because I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The social criticism is also very relevant, but a lot subtler than expected. It does not give in-the-face preachy messages about how our generation is too dependent on smartphones. Rather it highlights how with the growth of social media and technology we have lost physical presence. We forget to check up on people closest to us and resort to think 'they must be doing well, they posted something the other day.' My only criticism would be that the final scenes felt a little too rushed. Apart from that I'm very satisfied and it left me contemplating about how heavily I rely on my devices. Where is the borderline? It's for each of us to decide for ourselves.

Should you watch it? YES!

This is a drama I was too hesitant to watch. Although I heard about all the buzz it was creating, and regardless of the love I have for Lee Jehoon, the violence aspect held me back from giving it a try. Finally, now that s2 is airing, my fomo urged me to binge s1 and god! I'm glad I did that.

The world is no binary, nothing's black and white, there's surely a gray area in between. And Taxi Driver picks up on the gray area in our justice system. This drama questions the difference between morality and legality. Being the pacifist I am, I was surprised when my conscience urged me to stand with Kim Dogi in all his actions. While we root for the rainbow gang, towards the end of the drama the holes in their organisation is also highlighted. The struggle faced by those who try to live within the constraints of law can also be witnessed through the prosecutor, Kang Hana. The drama tests our limits with all the remorseless criminals who escape lawful indictment through their economic, social and political privileges. It critiques some ignorant ideologies we have modelled over the years and urges us to rethink them.

Overall it's a fun watch and I would totally recommend!

SEVENTEEN being SEVENTEEN

If you're just getting into SVT this is the content you should watch to view them in their most natural state. While a show like Going Seventeen has concepts to follow, and characters they play, In the Soop is a show where they leave their celebrity selves behind and get some rest. Seventeen's biggest asset is the number of members they have. This promises different combinations and variety of content from them. They catch up on lost sleep, meditate, go to the sauna, ride bikes and atvs, hike up a mountain, hold tea ceremonies, work out, paint, do archery, ride boats, play paintball, go fishing, cook good food, sing, dance, eat, drink and have deep conversations. There are no adornments like makeup, flashy outfits, perfect lighting and an aesthetically set stage, rather they appear as their bare selves. There are times when their chaotic energy seeps out, and there are also moments of tranquil, but everything is balanced out in moderation and nothing feels overdone or unreal.

Vernon's closing comment struck me the most when he described the show as being "eye of the storm" the calmest spot within the storm, because once their hectic schedules start again they'd return to the reality that is the storm that's circling the "eye." This was their momentary place to rest, where they made precious memories and established the depth of their friendship, but now they will return to their busy lives.

LOVED THIS SEASON! HOPEFULLY WE'LL GET MORE IN THE FUTURE ❤

netflix power!

i began this drama when it started airing, but didn't even get midway to ep1 before i gave up. i guess i just wasn't curious, both with the story and the pairing (because i didn't expect much) but after 14 eps had already aired i saw it was still top1 currently airing dramas on mdl and decided to give it a chance. binged by pulling an allnighter because i was hooked into the 'forbidden love' aspect.

not the best drama ever or anything, but still a decent one. storywise there are a lot of plotholes, but their chemistry made me stay. it was a fun watch. personally think it's a better binge than watching as it airs. nothing spectacular happening that will get you thinking and waiting the whole week for the next eps to drop. yes, they're too sweet it might get cringey, but somehow i enjoyed the cringe lol. this is the kinda drama you don't need to watch 16hrs of to get the plot, a well made fmv will do. the reason it's performing well on this platform is probably because it's aired on netflix which makes it easily accessible.

you can't watch this with a rational and moral mind because of how "destiny" is used as an excuse. so watch it if you're up for some fluff without focusing too much on the plot. not a drama i would strongly recommend or anything, just an average drama you can enjoy if you wanna idle away time.

Absolutely Fun Packed

Fake marriages are no new trope in KDramaland, but somehow the crew has succeeded in making the plot refreshing.

The marriage here is justified with real socio-economic challenges faced by South Korea, and a business firm that attempts to eradicate such crisis through exclusive employee incentives. What one must remember is how they shouldn't seek logic or relatability in this drama as it is clearly over dramatised for the comedy aspect. Regardless of that, it does succeed in keeping the audience engaged, and had multiple scenes where I burst out laughing. This is my favourite airing drama at the moment. It is an easy watch, as it is straightforward, fast-paced, and doesn't make one overanalyze things. The second lead couple also has a fresh storyline, it doesn't feel forced in without a purpose. It is only the third friend's story that hasn't really offered anything substantial [or proved it's potential] to the plot yet, hopefully this will be resolved in future episodes.

Eagerly waiting for upcoming episodes.

Rewatch Value!

Only one episode has aired and might be a little too soon to write a review, but damn here I go! I totally did not expect this to be this fun especially since it's agricultural themed. Regardless of how close they are, if the theme is boring it's not easy to save the show. As someone who runs away from agricultural content because of my dad who hogs the TV at home with stuff like this, I was quite hesitant about this show.

"Yes, I absolutely love the cast and yay they're finally working with THE Na PD, but farming...?" this was me when the show was announced. But I still decided to trust the cast and crew and give it a chance, and THANK GOD I did!!!

Lee Kwangsoo is a GOD when it comes to entertainment, this guy absolutely never misses and is one of the main contributors to the comedy in the show. It might not be a stretch to say he's carrying the show in the pilot episode. Kim Kibang's laughter is so contagious and this man laughs at everything that comes out of his dongsaengs' mouth. He might be the hyung, but he receives no excessive politeness just a lot of back and forth bickering obviously resulting from their over a decade friendship. Kim Woobin gives the best reactions to the situations and constantly questions the actions of his hyungs. He is the most unfitting cast member for this concept, yet he surprisingly works well as a farmer regardless of the whinings about how tired he is. Doh Kyungsoo might be the maknae, but he has no hesitation in giving the hyungs the side eye when they're doing questionable stuff. He is absolutely crafty and totally fearless, and might be one of the most sincere in his farmer role as it is an old dream he's finally getting to experience now. When together they're constantly up to something that the crew wouldn't have had a hard time getting enough footage. Their interactions with the neighbourhood people are also so fun, and because it is shot like a documentary than a variety show it feels more raw. Viewers get the feeling of hanging out with friends and the farming aspect adds more comedy as they're all clueless about the process (just like us, so we end up learning together).

I absolutely hate rewatching things but surprisingly I've rewatched this episode thrice!!! I myself am taken aback by how fun I'm finding this show. I would totally recommend and am excited for the upcoming episodes!!!
