Hi! :) I am Nerium Oleander. You can try to find out what my nickname means.
I am open to a bunch of genres but mostly focus (and like) on romance dramas. I watch chinese dramas mainly followed by Korean dramas and recently leaning towards some Japanese dramas. :)
The dramas has to be infused with certain elements. (Eg. interesting plot, likable characters, strong female and male leads (in any way) etc. )
Side note: I have watched too many romance dramas so when I watch them I am rather picky about the drama overall so it has to be top notch for me to like them.
I am personally rather particular on dramas and (by now, you would have known romance dramas especially). So, I’ll list below my biggest spoils for me in a drama as well as the elements in dramas that make me like them.
Biggest Spoils(in no particular order) *just that those in bold are more important*
1. Boring and cliched plot
2. Unrealistic plot (includes fantasy dramas, not including those magic elements)
3. (Main) Characters that have no logic and thinking as well as seem particular useless despite the drama praising them for their so and so excellent qualities. Basically, a character that doesn’t lives up to expectations and is weak. (I am okay for characters to have imperfections but not to the extent at which it makes me want to head bang. )
4. 0 chemistry between the main characters (only in romance dramas and also groups which work together in dramas)
5. Cringe acting (that really pisses me off) But not that bad since I then watch the drama for comedic intent. (Only if I have time)
Elements that are absolutely beautiful in dramas that I like (also includes some troupes which I just loveeee…those are the only cliche plots that I can endure however most of the dramas that do these troupes just can’t pull it off well)
1. Enemies to lovers (or like enemies forming an unbeatable team)(I am such a heartbreak for these…but pity. Not much dramas I have seen it pull it off moderately well)
2. Lovers (or best friends) to enemies. (I just love this troupe…hits me in the core all the time… . Two dramas that I have seen so far has pulled this off perfectly. One being a enemy to lover to enemy to lover…a japanese drama and the other being a Chinese drama)
3. Revenge dramas. STOP RIGHT THERE! This genre just makes me happy, especially if it is infused with good romance. However, most dramas fail to impress me with their weak motives and weak revenge plan. Especially romance dramas seem to do it quite bad. Like the female lead says I‘lltake revenge against my ex boyfriend and falls in love with him. Irritates me to no end.
4. Smart leads same as point 3 above in biggest spoils just the opposite.
5. Great chemistry adds a point! :) As well as great acting adds a lot of points
6. Realistic plot.
basically the opposite of everything in my biggest spoils in my list.
Reviews
When I write reviews, I don‘t write them very often unless I really LOVE the drama or really dislike it till I cannot contain my anger. In that case, I tend to lean towards the dislike and write review side. If you would notice the way I write reviews in my few reviews, they tend to lean towards the serious humour side. :p
