The Story so far... & Conclusion

L.U.C.A. The Beginning is a story about the evolution of Species and all the moral issues that arose from such an action. This Evolution doesn’t happen in Nature, but it is engineered in a lab under the authority of a Cult. The corruption in the series is tremendous.

The Cult has connections to a scorned scientist that his ideas were condemned from the scientific society. They have also ties within the Government, the NIS and several other Institutions making them powerful to what they do to people in order to succeed their cause.

Ji Oh is the main protagonist and the result of a genetic experiment. He is a human / animal hybrid the first of his kind and he managed to flee from the lab when he was a kid.

He lived a live where he was alone, with no memories because of his “gift” or “curse” as he calls it, being hunted down repeatedly by people who doesn’t remember.

The whole series concentrates in the humanization of Ji Oh.

He is being seen by others as a “Monster”, but in fact from the beginning of the series until the Episode 11, Ji Oh has been more humane than those who are called human beings because of their genome.

Goo Reum is the only human being who sees that Ji Oh is a person indeed and not a monster, hence their encounter changes Ji Oh bit by bit.

After many ups and downs, Ji Oh eventually starts a family with Goo Reum. Ji Oh loves Goo Reum fiercely. They both love each other deeply.

Their real problems start when Goo Reum and their baby will be abducted by the bad guys and GR is being manipulated to think that Ji Oh killed her parents and that he is indeed a monster. Goo Reum's reaction to all these is a mixture of postpartum depression, fear for her baby, shock that the man she loves killed her parents and tiredness because they don't let them be.

Ji Oh has been a fugitive all his life. Goo Reum doesn’t know what that means and she wants them to run away, but Ji Oh finally realizes that he cannot run away any longer. They cannot overcome the powerful Organization.

Hence his decision to become the “monster” in order to protect those who loves dearly. For Goo Reum that is unacceptable. She thinks that Ji Oh is losing his humanity and they are the reason for it. So, in the end of Episode 11 she is abandoning him.

Τhe Conclusion.

The Writer-nim stayed true to what he wanted to write. His goal was to underline the moral issues of Science playing God.
He succeeded in that.

It is obvious that he didn’t have in mind any romance, neither for JiReum or Yi Son and Yoo-Na, nor a character development of Goo Reum.

He also ended the Series with the worst-case scenario the audience would have dreamed of, a sad but realistic open ending for a possible Season 2.

For the Writer-nim, Goo Reum represented humanity while Ji Oh was the generated hybrid who had to choose how to proceed with his life.

So, should someone watch this show?

IMHO, Υes, watch with curiosity, keep the didactic lesson and move forward.

The most heartwarming Life Lessons during the Pandemic!

"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. "

This quote by e. e. cummings, is the essence of this show. I loved of all of it from the very beginning! What an amazing story with beautiful and hopeful messages!
Life is hard. Sometimes, things don’t go as we have planned. It takes resilient to overcome Life’s problems.

“Doom At Your Service” is not your typical K-Drama. You need to pay attention to what is being said, why is being said and when.

I was enthralled by its well written script, by the usage of Literary Virtues. Im Meari knows her craft pretty well. She used figures of speech, allegories. As an International Fan I missed the Korean idioms, but I tried to find what was being said.

The overall outcome it was a reward. The PD-nim did an amazing job! Also the music production team gave us the best songs and musical themes, we could have asked for.

Thank you to Park Bo Young and Seo In Guk! They were great as Tak Dong Kyung and Myul Mang / Doom / Kim Sa Ram.

Also, thank you to all the other actors and actresses for giving flesh to those interesting characters!

Don’t be shun away from the negative reviews. Watch #DAYS and you won’t regret it!

Those 5 stars are ONLY for the actors and actresses that did their best in a poorly written script!

I REFUSE to continue watching a tv series that promotes rape culture.
When a woman says NO that means NO.

Writernim Lee made the stellar character of Song Hwa a caricature, normalizing rape culture in the process.

In the beginning of the Season 2, SHwa made pretty clear that she rejected IkJun.
But little by little, they made her to change her mind in a way that is awful!

ShinLee duo used their cast to validate such behaviors as:

- It is alright to have a stalker! The girl or boy will eventually change her / his mind!

- It is alright to stay in a toxic relationship, manipulation and gaslighting doesn't matter!
You are just imagining things! If he / she lies or doesn't say the truth (lies by omission) then that's okay too!

-It is alright to stay in an abusive relationship, if you don't die in the end!
(I am using sarcasm obviously!)

Some might think that I am exaggerating, but since the Pandemic and the lockdowns around the world, have you seen the Femicide rates by country?

ShinLee basically told us that:

*WE* don't know what we are thinking!

Women can hold grudges for over 20 years and stay forever in a 19 year old mindset, where being dumped is something that can happen to anyone,

BUT

Instead of making women or men move on and grow mentally, emotionally and intellectually, that makes them indecisive!

We can be brilliant to our occupations, but we don't really know what we really want from a partner!

Is that a HEALTHY ROLE MODEL in its 40s?

Should all women in their 30s-40s something, out there in the world, feel imcompetent, just because they are not married?

Should they lower their standards, in order to find someone to marry, in order to be accepted that they are following indeed our society's standards!?

Every woman has its own path, that is different from others and that's okay. And that applies to men as well!

If the script was better written I wouldn't object to that pairing, but it isn't.
Hence my frustration and disappointment!

They also did disservice to the character of Ahn Jeong-won.
DLL was used for what reason exactly? Why did he give it to Song Hwa for?
What happened with his ultimate dream? There are so many loose ends that go nowhere.

We didn't see at all IkJun spending time with Uju.
We got almost 2 hours episodes every week, that didn't have a scene with the boy.
Do you think that is okay for a single father not to spend time with his son?

THINGS I LIKED:
The only healthy relationship is the Bear Couple.
MinHa and Seok-hyeong show to the world, how a relationship should be approached!
Also, Seok-hyeong as a doctor saved the day several times over.

The best character development is that of JWan's.
JWan along with JaeHaek are the stars of Season 2.
IkSun made the best apology ever to JWan about their breaking up.

If you want to watch Season 2 be prepared for a poorly written script that has nothing to do with the stellar Season 1. It contains fillers, scenes that doesn't bring emotional build up and a brilliant cast that is trying to save the day!
