Both are centered around the lives of club hosts, although Gigolo Wannabe is light whereas Beastie Boys is dark in tone.

Inochi shares the same narrator, music composer and screenwriter as Oshin. While Oshin portrays the life of a poor sharecropper's daughter, Inochi does the opposite by portraying the life of a rich landlord's daughter. Both women, however, are to face a great deal of adversity and hardship.
