Slow burn romance. Interesting backstories.

I’ll keep this short. The romance is a slow burn. I like this because the characters start off hating each other. It seems more realistic than just “falling in love” right away.

A main complaint of this story is that the scenes at the company take up too much screen time. I personally don’t agree with those complaints. Those scenes are important to give context to the stresses of the characters’ lives. It also gives a look at the entertainment scene, this time from the business side of things. I appreciate that about this drama because becoming an idol is something that many people dream of doing, even if it only briefly. I assume that if you are an English speaker watching dramas in an Asian language, you have at least entertained the idea of becoming an idol in a company. This gives a look at the more gritty side of the entertainment industry. I appreciate this take on a career that seems glamorous but has some unforeseen, dark aspects.

The acting is overall very good! I’m not a professional, but nothing stood out to me as glaringly poor.

The outfits are nice! However, ZhenZhen still looks too put together, even though her character supposedly has “bad taste”. I do like that the drama’s characters reuse outfits. That aspect is quite realistic. However, one of the characters, Ma Lina, wears very revealing clothing and it just isn’t realistic that she would wear that in an office setting. Now that I think about it, though, maybe she is wearing short clothing on purpose to seduce a certain person…

The storyline is nicely plotted. Like I said, it’s a slow burn. Patience, people! It gets good by the end! Also, the ending does not have a clear resolution, leaving the drama open for a second season. I would definitely not be opposed!

The camerawork is wonderful! It adds to the story rather than takes away. I dislike it when I’m watching and all I can focus on is the bad camera angle rather than the actual scene. That’s definitely not the case for this drama, though! Beautiful cinematography!
