It was one of my most anticipated BL for this year because the trailer truly captivated me. Maybe because I had high expectations that's why I ended up disappointed.

Good things first, Solo and Gui are both non-toxic. I like how they slowly fell in love with each other. I believe love should not really be dramatic and cinematic all the time. Sometimes love comes in the most boring way but that's still valid. Phu and Khao are also cute together. They are not toxic to each other too. We didn't consent issues with this series. The OST might be one of the best things that happened in this show.

Now as to why I rated it low is based on my enjoyment in this one. I was bored to death halfway through this series. The acting was stiff. I understand that this is a first acting gig for the actors but more workshop could've been a better option. Solo and Gui are both too robotic. I saw some silver lining near the finale because Solo improved his acting in there. A great director could've made these characters shine even if the actors are rookies. The directing and editing are a mess.

Unconventionally fun!

First off, I have a very limited idea about BDSM and all I know from it was from reading novels so it's not really reliable. I have not read the webtoon too. My review is purely based on my enjoyment of the movie.

Well it was fantastic! I felt a rollecoaster of emotions. I felt happy, embarassed, ecstatic, confused and satisfied. I felt happy because they stuck with the romcom and it's not racy like how everyone who judged this show before its release thought. Some scenes I felt the secondhand embarassment. Some scenes I'm confused because I couldn't connect emotionally for obvious reasons.

I've been a fan of Seohyun because I'm SNSD's fan. I know she isn't the strongest actor in the group and I haven't seen her latest works. She improved by miles from the last time I watched her. And she sure does pick very interesting projects. She delivered really well. Her portrayal of Jiwoo is so relatable. I feel like I'm watching this movie in her pov. On the other hand, I'm not familiar with Lee Jun Young but he caught me eye and I'll look forward to his future projects. He acts so well and has great emotions in his eyes. How did I miss him in his previous projects? Their chemistry is so good too like damn I felt all the emotions in that kiss! I was a puddle. Bonus: both of them are so gorgeous!

Overall, I really enjoyed watching this and will definitely recommend for those wanting to watch a romcom but wants a fresh plot. Kudos to all actors and production team for investing in and going for something new.

A tale of guilt, regrets, self-discovery and self-love

I loved everything about this movie. I watched without any expectations and thought it would just be another cliché romcom but it’s actually something that has more depth and meaning to it.

This movie has a cohesive flow and the flashbacks really do take us back along with the main character of his self-discovery. And along with it, you will also feel what the main character is feeling (regret, guilt, sadness, etc). It also makes you understand his family’s feelings too. I cried along with the wife when he confessed about cheating, when he rediscovered the time they really argued and called it quits. That scene was chef’s kiss! That ending was exceptional too! I’m happy that even though they gave him a redemption arc, the wife still chose to love herself more after everything she’s been through. It was the perfect ending for me.

The casting was done pretty well too. Sunny and Araya are of the same age and Becky looks just like their kid. I’ve watched a couple of Sunny’s works and that man can deliver! He also registers really good on-screen. He’s aging like a fine wine. I have watched Araya in another comedy movie so I know she can pull of comedy but she blew me away with her dramatic acting skills in this. I watched Becky as a side character from BLs and I can say she really improved her acting too.

Overall, I would recommend people to watch this because it conveys a great message and the movie was done amazingly too.

Cute and fluffy fantasy romcom

I love how this was a really light watch. It's fun and enjoyable. No need to think a lot and every episode just makes you happy. Although it has a fantasy element, it was not that serious and somehow I was reminded of the classic "My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho" with their uncannily similar titles. It has the same feel to it and I really loved that series too.

Hyeri aces this role. She just have this natural comedic vibe in her. She's not afraid to make silly facial expressions and she does not try hard in making those faces. Jang Ki Yong played his gumiho role who is 999 years old really well too. He acted like a grandpa lol. Both of them made this dynamic work and they exude really awesome chemistry together. I just naturally smile with them in their moments together.

I like the other casts too. With Dam's friends and Hye Sun in the mix, it makes it more enjoyable and Dam is a really relatable character too. Cohabitation hijinks is a cliche that I'm on board with. I rarely get SLS and this one was not an exception. I was team gumiho all the way. And although Sun Woo did not get a chance (and couldn't understand when the FL says she doesn't have feelings for him), I think the actor played his character really well. It also helps that he's cute. I hope to see more of him in his future projects.

Overall, I'll definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a cute romcom.

Story of Growth and Choosing your Home

Please watch the Hello Love Goodbye first. There are a LOT of references which you will miss if you didn’t watch the first movie.

STORY: Just like the first movie, this one also portrayed the struggles of working overseas. They have also incorporated the global pandemic into the plot. We saw Joy and Ethan in their ups and downs, in their best and worst moments. I loved how this showed us how human and realistic they felt during all that they went through together.

CAST/ACTING: Both phenomenal actors. Kathryn and Alden are powerhouses in this. They also have really great dynamics on screen. I felt like the most raw moments were the moments that only have them both on screen acting their heart out. I would love to see a new movie with them as main leads once again.

MUSIC: I loved it! There’s music from the first movie that still brings back all the feels. The new soundtrack [“Palagi” ~ directly translates as “Always”] is so fitting in their story.

REWATCH: I want to rewatch this immediately after I finished watching in the cinema.

Definitely will recommend people to watch this! All the feels, great story flow, oozing chemistry and amazing performance from the actors.

Failed to live up to expectations

In all honesty, I was hyped about this mainly because this is the Mario and Baifern reunion many of us has been waiting for. I am one of those who had Mario as our original Thai actor crush because of the phenomenal Crazy Little Thing Called Love movie.

STORY
My personal preference is that I don't like 'robot and humans fall in love' plot. But I gave this one a chance and kept an open mind about it. The story is promising but the execution was pretty bad. If it wasn't for the CGIs, it would look like a low value movie. The writing is all over the place. It doesn't know what it wants to present. Did it want to be a sci-fi, romance or comedy? It wanted to show all of those but fell short.

ACTING
If it wasn't for the casting, I would've dropped it at 15 minutes into the movie. Both leads are already established actors, it's just a pity they had to make do of a script like this. All the other side actors look like caricatures in their acting. Mario and Baifern still had that chemistry. Baifern is a chemistry generator but I think she still has the best chemistry with Mario because look at all their cute moments together.

REWATCH VALUE
Not a rewatch material at all. Maybe just watch the leads' cute scenes and chemistry in movie cuts in youtube and pretend it's from a good movie.

P.S. I gave it an extra point for the sentimental value of the Mario-Baifern reunion. They should've just given us the sequel we were waiting and not this movie. But oh well..

Faithful remake of first loves and letting go

I've already watched the K-version so I already know what's about to happen. I couldn't remember the exact details because I've watched it ages ago so I can't really pinpoint similarities or differences.

STORY
Since I already know the story beforehand, it probably lessen my excitement of watching the story unfold. I think they were quite faithful to the original. The plot twist was well executed. It gave off a lesser melo vibe than the K-version but that's fine for me.

ACTING/CAST
The female lead gave off the same first love aura as Son Ye Jin in the original. They casted Mint perfectly. I think she is one of the most charming Thai actresses I have ever seen. New is the one I am most familiar in the cast and I think he gave a lackluster performance here. Half of the time he looks constipated. He still mastered that puppy look when he's acting smitten though. I do think they have better chemistry than the other male leads. It was really apparent at the beginning of the movie. The actor who plays Non is so wooden. The actor who plays Tanil is much better (the winks are cute).

MUSIC
Imagine my surprise to hear Hospital Playlist OST playing. Then I realized HP songs were all covers of old Korean songs and the original was The Classic's OST. Strangely, it gave me a warm feeling because I adored HP and all its elements. The song reall fits the vibe of the movie. So kudos to the music directors for keeping the original OST and translating it to Thai.

REWATCH
Definitely not a rewatch material for me. I do hope to see more of Mint though because she got my attention now. Hopefully we also see her and New in a reunion project in the future.

Not as fluffy as expected

Just wanna start by saying that Put Your Head On My Shoulder Chinese adaptation is one of my all-time favorite romcom EVER. With that being said, when I read that it is going to have a Thai version, it went straight to my must-watch list.

I honestly expected it to be as cute as the C-version but when I started this it was quite different. I didn't know until I read the comments that this is an adaptation of the novel and not the drama itself. I also didn't read the novel so I have no idea how faithful it was to the original material. One of the best words to describe the C-version is FLUFF. So I was just kinda hoping it would maintain at least that feel in this version.

It didn't quite met my expectation of the feels. It did have its own charm to it though so I'm still rating it quite high. I would minimize comparison with the C-version here to give this version a little more leeway.

Acting-wise, it was mid. Although I believe with this kind of plot it doesn't need any acting prowess. I am familiar with the casts except for the female lead. New always plays this kind of soft boy roles and he's good at it. But I need to see him somewhere new for a change. I can also see the chemistry between him and Kaimuk. Kaimuk is a beginner and I am willing to give her a pass on her acting this time. Gigi is the weakest link but with the way her character is written, there is really nothing much she can do about it. This is probably the weakest performance of hers in all the works I have watched her in. The chemistry of the whole cast is really good though.

Story-wise, nothing spectacular. There are a lot of filler scenes. I think 20-episodes for this is too much. They spent too much time on Time's arc (pun intended). If his role is to annoy the hell out of people watching this show, then he played his role really well. It would've been more interesting if they went with the bestfriend as the triangle in the love story. Kaimuk's portrayal of Prapai made her look dumb I feel like I'm watching It Started With A Kiss. Tar and Wawa is still a snoozefest like their Chinese counterparts (oh no I did it! lol). Pupaa and Prapai did give us the butterflies of first loves and I think that is what this drama is all about.

Overall, I 'm rating this one above average because I don't want to compare it with anything else. It was a sweet and cute drama on its own. If you want to watch something for fluff, this is not the best out there. But if you have lots of spare time, then give this one a chance.

Not gonna lie, I was initially drawn to it because of the visuals of the main leads. I haven't seen any of them in another series so this is my first encounter with them. Acting-wise, they portrayed their characters pretty well.

The leads' chemistry is explosive! It's a pity they waited until the final episode to give us fluff and butterflies. It would've been great if we saw more of it. I was smiling from ear to ear at the finale scene. One of the plus factor in this series for me though was the mom. At first I thought she's gonna be annoying but that coming out scene is perfect for me. Yey Mom! We love you! The ex though is an anti-climactic plot device and he irritates me everytime I see him. The second lead couple don't have chemistry but their relationship is so pure. I don't really care for them and they don't add anything to the plot.

Overall, it's far from perfect but I enjoyed it as it is.

Cute, fun and easy watch

I'm not a big fan of lakorns but I really enjoyed this one. My mom and I usually have different taste when it comes to Korean series (she likes the makjangs lol) but we agree that this one was fun. This is our first time watching a lakorn together and we breezed through the episodes.

It's quite light and I've enjoyed even the slapstick comedy. Faidam and her shenanigans was the highlight of the series for me. It's not too deep and the drama mostly happened near the finale so it's an easy watch. Although the plot was kind of stagnant in the middle portion of will-he-or-will-he-not-tell-Dao, it did not diminish my enjoyment of the episodes. Also there were a lot of flashbacks in the last three episodes and I think they did that because the show got extended. The villain is not fleshed out enough and it seems like audience shouldn't care about her at all. They didn't even give her a story. Like she just existed to cling unto Dr. Param and ruin Dao and Param's relationship.

Another relationship that I liked in this show is Faidam and Madam Morn. It's cute to see their relationship become a mother-daughter dynamic. I was irritated and literally rolling my eyes at Madam Morn's stinginess but I guess they had to give her a unique trait for some reason (may it be for comedic or what). Dao and Wat is also friendship goals! Wat and her mom is my favorite familial relationship in this show (I hated the family dynamics of both leads). I really loved how the relationship between Param and Dao is slow and gradual but still cute and not boring.

Namfah was my favorite. She really nailed her role as Faidam. Her comedic timing is gold. This is the first time I've watched her and I've become a fan. I've seen August in U-Prince and his charisma always gets me. This time though, my mom is with me in fangirling over him. He has lesser variety compared to what Namfah has to act out in here but he still did pretty good. August and Namfah's chemistry is so so good. I was squealing at those kisses. The rest of the cast really grew on me too.

I always thought that lakorns are too dramatic but this show made me have a new perception. This romcom is just my style and I would love to see August and Namfah work together again in another lakorn with this kind of genre.

Less dinners, more crazy exes

If we had more dinners and less crazy exes, I would've rated this one higher. I mean, look at our OTP's chemistry! It's so good! We wasted all of that on crazy and annoying exes. We could've had more romantic and amazing dinner conversations and banters between our leads. They are so cute together, I was holding it out for our main leads' moments. I though we're gonna have a romcom but it turned waaaayyy like a thriller with one (literally crazy) ex.

This show did have an amazing OST so that's a plus.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I loved the premise of this show so much. I have watched many other fusion sageuk with time travelling as the plot but I have never come across a 'male to female body swap' kind. This was something new to me and I was very interested in how the story will follow. This had a very good quality of humor and heart.

Everyone in the cast did an excellent job. I am in awe of their effort and performance in here. Bias aside, because Shin Hye Sun is one of my all-time favorite Korean actresses, she nailed this role perfectly. I truly believed she has a man inside her body. In that specific scene where Jang Bong Hwan has left the Queen's body, through her magnificent acting, I already knew JBH is not there anymore. Another outstanding performance is from the Kim Jung Hyun. I know he is good but I didn't know that he is THIS good. All the other supporting characters too. May it be for comedy or drama, they did amazing.

The music was also well delivered. No music is overplayed and we can hear quirky music when it's comedy time and we can hear a heartbreaking music when it's a sad scene.

Now as to why I didn't give it a full 10 mark is because I was hoping that JBH would stay inside the Queen's body. I don't actually disagree with how it ended. I think it ended perfectly as it was and no cliche reincarnation thing happened as it always does with these kinds of dramas. Of course, me hoping that JBH stayed in the Queen's body is a personal feeling. I am aware of the possible outrage it may cause because it will in a way be BL-ish and general public (esp in Korea) would not be very welcoming of the idea.

JBH inside the Queen's body for a happily ever after is my greatest 'what if' & I think it's kinda tragic that the King wasn't even aware that he fell in love with someone else (a MAN trapped in a woman's body at that!) and not the Queen herself.

Still, my greatest 'what if' did not diminish the great happiness this series has given me. I will still highly recommend this to anybody.

Fanfic material but an okay watch

I was not expecting a masterpiece so it I enjoyed it for what it is.

The story is a typical wattpad or fanfic material. I feel like I've read this kind of plot over and over already. That being said, the story was not novel for me but I liked this kind of cheese and trope so I consumed this one with gusto. At first, I was hesitant with the main leads' chemistry. Probably because at the first few episodes neither one of them is actually likable. But if you actually gave it a chance, the character growth is fantastic.

Sooyoung and Tae Joon did well although I think even rookie actors could've done this show too. After the initial unlikability of both HJ and GY, I was always smiling when I see them both on-screen. I am convinced of their chemistry and love story. I also didn't care for the other characters in this show (well I liked JJ in the beginning - so much potential in his character that got wasted). The "past" was an overdue arc that I stopped caring for it halfway through the show. I only really liked the relationship build-up between the main leads. I feel like we were robbed of more moments with the two of them. Give me more HJ and GY lovey dovey moments. They should've just focused on the love story instead. Lots of unnecessary plots in there that the writer decided to stop caring midway.

I liked the songs used in this show albeit a bit overplayed but that's not an issue for me because Kdramas tend to overuse their OSTs. Pity though because they could've put more songs in there considering the main character is supposedly an idol.

Overall, it's an okay show to pass time. If you want to watch something with a grand plot and more substance, this show is not for you.

Pretty enjoyable

I didn't read the webtoon so I don't have anything to compare this to. Probably one of the reason why I enjoyed this as much as I did.

Beyond all the cliches, I actually think the story is interesting. Someone who has inferiority complex tries to overcome her complex through make-up. While everyone was fighting over Suho or Seo Jun, I was really rooting for Ju Kyung's character development. If we compare the first episode to the last, it was Ju Kyung that has a lot of growth. I'm not too sold with the yet again another love triangle. I liked both the male leads' characters too. None of them is a jerk and are actually really good people. Whoever Ju Kyung ended up with would've been okay for me. I also think the slapstick comedy is fun and just the right amount.

Moon Ga Young has always been great with her roles. I can't imagine anyone playing Ju Kyung as well as her. I do think this is quite an easy role for her and didn't showcase so much of her acting capabilities. Cha Eun Woo's role as Suho is too much like his Gangnam Beauty role but I still appreciate that he showed more emotions here compared to his last two series I watched. Props to him for improving. The surprise for me here is Hwang In Yeop. He nailed his role perfectly. I haven't watched him in anything yet and I'm regretting that. I look forward to seeing him in more lead roles in the future.

Although not a masterpiece candidate but this is an easy and delightful watch.

Fluffy then turned makjang for no reason

Did the writer and director or whoever is in-charge of this series fight on the finale episode?

I was so ready to give this one an 8.5 for all the heartwarming and fluff and fun and cuteness it gave me each week. I want to give this a 5.0 for that finale alone. How can they suddenly decide to make Jun NOT dead in the literal last five minutes of the finale and we're just supposed to take that like that's okay and they live happily ever after? Of course I would've preferred a happy ending coz this is a typical romcom but to do it this way is dumb.

Now as I said this was an 8.5 for me if it was not for the finale because I really like how this gave me a fluffy and heartwarming feeling each week. I have grown to love the Eunpo people and I feel like I also belong in there with them. They feel like a family and I'm so happy watching that every week. Jun and Rara (before the makjang happened) was really cute together too. I didn't even mind the age gap because I didn't think there was a power imbalance in their dynamic.

This was enjoyable every week but it crashed and burned. The still high rating is for me to commemorate that I did like this show I if pretend that the finale was Jun appeared in that Christmas concert and did a piano duet with Rara. The end.
