Interesting in the beginning, a bit dragging in the middle, too rushed in the end
Although Xu Kai is more famous and holds the lead role as Li Xuan, I feel that Li Jun Chen aka Yu FengMu is the most handsome actor in this production (nice hairdo and costume). His eyes is mesmerizing and can convey micro expressions. He deserves more chances in a lead role.Nice CGI effect when spiritual powers are being used. And the flying choreography is good.
The costumes and props and background is also beautiful. Other supporting characters needed more screentime and story development.
I like the song "If". It suits Yu FengMu's story in this drama.

Good storyline, good direction and cinematography and excellent acting
Story that focus on family and rising from scratch and being strong for family in bad times.No annoying love triangles or troublemaking characters.
Cast suited for their roles. Hu YiTian's height make him the best commander of the secret service because he towers over everyone.
No mushy interactions of the couples. Female characters are strong and did not talk or behave coquettishly.

Rooting for bad guy
The bad guys are the only handsome ones in this drama. They are Yuwen Hu and General Geshu. This is the first drama where I find myself wanting the bad guys to win.Jeremy Tsui performance here really did propelled him to stardom. His roles in Legend of the Phoenix and Novoland : Castle In The Sky 2 was also equally awesome. And because Legend of Dugu has so many other main characters and plots, every time he appears on screen, he makes it so outstanding.
It saddens me that his character is the bad guy and he didn't get a happy ending or even the girl.

The eye is the window to the soul
I like how the main leads (Allen Ren and Seven Tan) were able to portray their emotions using their eyes. The supporting cast also made some scenes so funny and sad. I finished watching the drama but I can't get it out of my head. From two officials that always butt heads to working together towards a common goal and then helping each other and finally falling for one another, this is the best chinese drama I have seen.I also like the investigative method and reasoning that highlighted the crime solving, the romance that was gradual and touching, the action scene choreography which showed the other actors and actresses face and the properly timed scenes with background song plus the independent women characters and the realization that you can choose how to live your life instead of going with the flow.
