Watch It If You like Shuhei Nomura (The Cafe Owner.)
I really didn’t enjoy this, but it wasn’t bad enough to drop.
I am also trying to give a fair rating to all the crew/ the overall picture, despite the fact that I didn’t like the FL’s acting here-bearing in mind that this is my subjective opinion.
I rarely re-watch anything, but if I was a “ re-watcher” this wouldn’t make the grade.
Today’s world leans towards using dating apps, so the story actually had potential to be really great, but I found myself being constantly irritated by the FL’s over-the-top pure-cringey acting. ( I don’t know her, or her acting ability, so I actually can’t say whether she was TOLD to act so OTT-(because of script or director)- or if she seriously thought that that was what the character required.
Also-not her fault here, just a part of the storyline- but the character’s pity party in the beginning was also irritating. I actually found myself sympathising with her ex!
I never gelled much with the ML’s character, though he is good-looking and acted fine. This is because I MISTAKENLY thought he was responsible for knocking into the FL/ into her trolley, after it hit the stone on the pavement…I thought he was being very rude, that even if he is in a hurry and a reserved person, he could have quickly apologised and assisted her. BUT I rewatched that section before writing this review, and I WAS WRONG. She was the one who knocked into him.
I google/ check out a few things on the reviews before watching. Things like: are ALL the episodes available to watch with ENG SUBS, and also the length of it. Two things are generally imperative for me, and that leads me on to a spoiler:
Here comes a spoiler alert:
1)Does it have a happy ending? (Yes)
2) Is it romantic? (Yes, BUT there is very little chemistry between the leads.)
The only person who really caught my eye was the gorgeous actor who played the cafe owner, Haruto Takagi. He made watching it worthwhile, not that he appeared all that much, comparatively.
