1. Tudo Bem Não Ser Normal
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
It ticks ALL my boxes, its stunning in a dark fairytale way. All the vintage shots, the writing on the butterfly, the paper, the butterflies. Not to mention, I just love the stop-motion animation thats used to introduce the two characters after the opening credits in the first episode, it makes it childlike, with a coraline vibe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pxT89PwG60

2. Black
Korean Drama - 2017, 18 episodes
NETFLIX INTRO VERSION. The James Bond influence here yessss- pipes, falling figures!! And the fire, the crowd, the rose, burning skull, the innocent female lead... I'm loving the dark, destructive theme going on! The music, just adds to the dark pace! https://www.netflix.com/watch/80214017?trackId=200257859

3. A Lenda do Mar Azul
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
I'm a sucker for darker visuals and exciting music...but this was pretty and I loved loved the fantasy sky and cityscape sequences... being very, very, very picky the music felt very lullabye-ish which I felt put me to sleep before the drama. But I loved this one :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQxLKMF3jbc

4. Novoland: Bandeira da Águia
Chinese Drama - 2019, 56 episodes
The bass in this is Uh-mazing. Clearly the beginning sequence is a game- pawns, a commentary on war/politics almost to the point where the mysterious shadowy figures become symbols for the lives lost and the magical theme in this show. Nice contrast of ice/blood, the shattering of the board and the collapsing horse into blood? It's honestly amazing visuals. Also CHECK OUT the haunting military OST at the end of each episode( min 44.50 here) I'm sold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujP5M6RYg4g&list=PLRBClVey5BqxQGDM7Rbgw3DDZN5LAmqTU

5. História do Palácio Yanxi
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
How these characters were standing so unnaturally still, the slight feel of traditional paintings and that traditional melody... yas!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr_R9s7gMgk
-
6. Memórias de Alhambra
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
NETFLIX INTRO VERSION Just beautiful, amazing shots, transitions, decent cgi, the level of detail. I love how individual this is-nowhere else would you find floating golden roses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xf17bu4I83k

7. Yuusha Yoshihiko to Akuryo no Kagi
Japanese Drama - 2012, 11 episodes
I think it was this one (recommended to me) ... The Hero Yoshihiko and the key of evil spirits- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-My59fGvoM I can't quite find the word for it... like a fashion poster- pop art, collage hybrid? Love it.

8. De Sobrevivente a Curandeiro
Chinese Drama - 2019, 40 episodes
I don't know, something about the contrasting grey palette... and the amazing music change halfway!! https://www.youtube.com/watch v=mIERwdf6wV8&list=PLZWDzHN6IT5BjDaoSNfuZ7LX_IXKQ4-94&index=40
-
9. Meu País: A Nova Era
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Short, kind of modern music for what the show's about... but I'm loving the heaviness and hype. The desolate fantasy field and contrasting battlefields, the long deserted...walkway with the wind blowing and the day changing... and the mysterious figure at the end?? Too short.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLVCKPa6zIo

10. Romance Sangrento
Chinese Drama - 2018, 36 episodes
Amazing haunting music paired with stark contrasting colours- black, red and un-natural slightly moving illustrations at the beginning. I love the use of fluidity here with ribbons and swirly colours... thanks for the rec. guys!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHnqMruxjws

11. O Rei: Monarca Eterno
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
-
12. Reino
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
Music could have been a tad more, well there... but it fits the tone, the shots are cool and unusual and it works... love the sombre colours with the crown/red and the zombie :) also all the smoke was so beautiful.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ8baO3_CK4

13. Me Salve
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
The Symbolism!!- Netflix version, the writhing skies (up means God guys, so god=angry?) panning down to the floating black church, with hands reaching forward. Then the hands traditionally represents Gods helping hands, but made creepy because its like they're reaching towards the viewer scaring the birds away, so probably not god...... literally every scene has meaning and foreshadowing, with creepy minimalistic music and muted palette... and that's an essay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6OdatMxuTM

14. Cavaleiro Negro: O Homem que Me Protege
Korean Drama - 2017, 20 episodes
The hands, people blended with landscapes, the ominous gothic music... SO PRETTY!! But there seemed to be so much repetitive white space, there was an almost blank atmosphere/feeling at times... https://www.netflix.com/watch/81093184?trackId=200257859
-
15. O Avanço da Fênix
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
I remember really loving this music.. also ink blots, way overused but works for disintegrating figures/reveal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlpN7alAnzA
-
16. Sangue
Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes
NETFLIX INTRO VERSION... Here because the butterfly shots are beautiful. Also I'm starting to notice, Kdramas gave a thing for butterflies & clocks. They are the equivalent of Chinese ink blots. https://www.netflix.com/watch/80145362?trackId=13752289&tctx=0%2C0%2C1e9fd316-bbba-4fad-9ac8-e0f7f2a86d21-576679375%2C455db1bc231bd64726f22812d453f43f35241b9d%3Af2bef5030be4b70ae654e577c54a899c0acc4249%2C%2C

17. Rookie Agent Rouge
Chinese Drama - 2016, 45 episodes
Mainly the beginning of it... the stylishly vintage-y feel- black/white, the heels, the spotlight like in old spy films, and the trumpets! It's so different and refreshing from other intros, and also fits the time period the drama is set in. How fragmented and covered it is adds to the mystery. Also the moth. I don't know why I like this one so much, it's honestly like a lot of dramas.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn_Xwwz5-BQ&list=PLTB73Ibi_X3GD14Doc2knYyhsavROx6rB

18. A Lenda de Hao Lan
Chinese Drama - 2019, 62 episodes
Just the whole merging of different components to make a fluid, continually panning intro... kind of like yanxi with the still figures.. the merged arrows/trees transition are coool, also has a few moving elements that contrast nicely with the stillness... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCsW_im_Bvw
-
19. A Lenda da Cobra Branca
Chinese Drama - 2019, 36 episodes
Not the scenes, though some were pretty... I can't wish it was a bit more creative (though yes, I do love the landscape shots)... The music makes it for me though... ahhhh its so soothing, but also builds up for the episode somehow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZvZkB4tFMc
