Cry Me A River

Dramas/movies that made me cry.

Making this list made me realize I was more of a crybaby than I had originally thought. This is also why I steer clear of tragedies.

  • O longo caminho para casa

    1. O longo caminho para casa

    Korean Movie - 2015

    9.0

I knew what I was getting myself into when I started this movie. No matter how good and light hearted the comedy was, at the end of the day, this is still a war movie. So I knew what to expect and I thought I had prepared myself for it. But boy, was I wrong. The last few minutes had me a sobbing mess. Those scenes were also beautifully done.

  • Vai, Irmão!

    2. Vai, Irmão!

    Chinese Movie - 2018

    8.0

Goddammit, they got me with the sister-brother sentiment at the end.

  • Venha e Me Abrace

    3. Venha e Me Abrace

    Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes

    10

This whole drama was an overwhelming roller-coaster ride of emotions, from start to finish.  So much frustrations and angst! The actors did a phenomenal job with portraying all that, so whenever they cried, it made me cry with them.

  • Lutando Pelo Meu Caminho

    4. Lutando Pelo Meu Caminho

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    8.0

This drama was very motivational and had such positive vibes it made me tear up a bit.  Loved how supportive they were of each other.

  • Hotel Del Luna

    5. Hotel Del Luna

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

    9.0

The last few episodes had me in tears. I had become so attached to the characters, I had a hard time letting go. Everyone had their own unique stories/personalities and their farewells were hard but satisfying to watch.

  • Meu Irmão Irritante

    6. Meu Irmão Irritante

    Korean Movie - 2016

    8.5

This was the 2nd role of Kyung Soo I've seen (right after Hello Monster) and I didn't know at the time he was an idol - let alone the main vocal in one of the biggest kpop boy groups! I thought he was a great (up and coming?) actor and boy was I in for a surprise when I found out acting wasn't his main gig. I know his group members made fun of him for his little act at the end of this movie (lol) but when I was watching it, it didn't feel cringey at all but rather raw and honest. So of course it made me cry.

  • Túnel

    7. Túnel

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    10

There were some hard topics and scenes shown in this drama. The FL's acting was also impressive and had me almost moved to tears at a few scenes.

  • Black

    8. Black

    Korean Drama - 2017, 18 episodes

    9.0

    warning: child death, mourning parents

  • Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo

    9. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo

    Japanese Drama - 2016, 5 episodes

    9.0

It was bit of a sad ending even though it made the most sense to finish it off like that. They were sad but hopeful tears.

  • O Leitor de Memórias

    10. O Leitor de Memórias

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    8.0

    warning: mourning parents

  • Sinal

    11. Sinal

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    9.5

Similar to Tunnel, in the case that was at the center of the story. The ML's emotionally raw and honest ugly crying made me tear up with him.

  • Dias Melhores

    12. Dias Melhores

    Chinese Movie - 2019

    10

This movie left me feeling shaken with a heavy heart. I was so frustrated for the injustices the main leads had to go through. I cried with and for them and their innocent bittersweet love. The main leads did such a fabulous job in their roles. I was so emotionally invested in this. Definitely deserved that Oscar nom.
