Immortals and past lives and superpowers and ghosts with an amazing soundtrack and romance and bromance... I found it very hard to fault this drama.

  • A Joia no Palácio

Yes, long historical dramas can be extremely daunting. I'm glad I didn't let this one scare me off. I've tried to watch numerous long historical dramas and only finished a few of them. Empress Ki, for example, I really liked but it was far from perfect. This one, however, never seemed to put me off. I finished it in a matter of days. It's older yes, but those can be the best in my opinion.

  • Seirei no Moribito III

    3. Seirei no Moribito III

    Japanese Drama - 2017, 9 episodes

An exceptional conclusion to the previous two seasons. If you've watched 1 and 2, then don't wait for this one. The whole cast shines in this drama backed up by a brilliant storyline and amazing soundtrack. I'll admit the first season wasn't as good, but it wasn't bad and the second one stepped up the game to reach this level.

Do I have to say anything else? Okay fine. A great family drama that hits all the feels with intriguing and flawed characters. I did become a bit bored with some side character arcs but it all winds up together exceptionally.

  • Curador

    5. Curador

    Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes

Action romance with hidden identities and childhood traumas. Does that sound like your cup of tea? If so, it's one of my favorite uses of these tropes. It's not perfect (ironic to say on this list?) and can feel a bit dated already, but it has an intense storyline with adorable romance. Rewatching it I admit I skipped some of the bad guy machinations and the like, but don't let that put you off.

I may have to bump this down a little which means it can't be on this list, but it's perfect in my memories of how much I loved it, so I don't want anyone to miss out on it.

  • Mãe

    6. Mãe

    Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes

I haven't seen the Japanese version, but this one is exquisite. The title should be a hint as to what the story is trying to talk about and portray; motherhood. Both the good and the bad, whether a birth mother or an adopter. It's honestly hard to explain, but there is mystery and crime and forgiveness and family wrapped up in this drama and if you aren't crying in the end, you probably aren't human.
