Favorite Korean Actresses/Actors !
-
Ahn Bo Hyun
Sul-coreano
stand-out qualities: versatility, individuality for each character, variety
favorite work of theirs: See You In My 19th Life (2023), Flex X Cop (2024)
other notable works: My Name (2021), Itaewon Class (2020)
plan to watch them in: Kairos (2020), Yumi's Cells (2021), Military Prosecutor Doberman (2022), Pretty Crazy (2024), God's Beads (2025)
thoughts: ahn bo-hyun is easily my favorite male k-drama actor and it physically pains me to see how underrated he is. he is the type of actor who makes the story he is telling feel so real. both My Name and Flex X Cop are dramas where he is in the genre of action but takes both characters in completely different directions, and it's really satisfying to see. to be able to go from the hateable antagonist character in Itaewon Class to easily one of the most green flag men ever in See You In My 19th Life is true talent. I'd love to see him in a more slice-of-life style romance, or something with lots of comedy because he could totally pull it off. i could go on and on about how well i think he is able to play a variety of characters and hope to see him grow even more successful. -
Kim Tae Ri
Sul-coreano
stand-out qualities: versatility, variety, wide skill-set
favorite work of theirs: Revenant (2023)
other notable works: Twenty-Five Twenty-One (2022)
plan to watch them in: The Handmaiden (2016), Mr. Sunshine (2018)
thoughts: watching kim tae-ri in 2521 and obsessing over her extroverted and implusive energy only to turn around and watch her get possessed in Revenant was emotional whiplash in the best way possible. i loved her in 2521 but after seeing her in Revenant my eyes were opened so much more as to how talented she is. it drives me crazy to see how underrated she is too. 2521 was really popular, but honestly the amount of people who don't know about Revenant is disappointing. she executed the horror elements so perfectly. she's one of those actresses who you only need to look at her eyes to understand her acting. -
Hong Kyung
Sul-coreano
stand-out qualities: versatility, character work
favorite work of theirs: Revenant (2023)
other notable works: Weak Hero Class (2022)
plan to watch them in: Hear Me: Our Summer (2024), Concrete Market (2024)
thoughts: i cannot wait for hong kyung to finally get the recognition he deserves. why he is the least recognized of the main roles in weak hero class for his acting is befuddling. he is really great at making each of his characters distinct, even in how they walk or talk. the comparisons and parallels between his characters in Weak Hero Class and Revenant are wonderful. i can't wait to see him in Hear Me: Our Summer with roh yoonseo (who i absolutely adore as well) because i've been waiting to finally see him in a cute slice of life romance. he's been able to do the groundwork in establishing his versatility in such a short time- whether that's a paranormal show, a show where he is the antagonist, or a heartbreaking queer movie- and i wish him the absolute best. -
Han So Hee
Sul-coreano
stand-out qualities: emotional scenes, romantic tension
favorite work of theirs: My Name (2021), Gyeongseong Creature 1 (2023)
other notable works: Gyeongseong Creature 2 (2024)
plan to watch them in: The World of the Married (2020), Soundtrack #1 (2022)
thoughts: i don't care how many times han so-hee is cast as a badass female lead- i will never get bored of her. she just does it so well. she's one of the few people who i don't mind being typecasted for a specific role because i know she'll eat it up every time. i'd love to see her in another romance drama, though, because i just can't bring myself to watch Nevertheless considering the writing of that show. i'm hoping to fall in love with her even more if she executes her role as an antagonist in The World of the Married when i end up watching it. yet another actress who i'm obsessed with the way she can act using only her eyes. she's also fabulous at taking the similar basic outline of the badass fl trope and making each character unique from each other. in Gyeongseong Creature especially, i think she has some of the best crying scenes. -
Shin Hye Sun
Sul-coreano
stand-out qualities: versatility, emotional scenes
favorite work of theirs: See You In My 19th Life (2023)
other notable works: Welcome To Samdal-ri (2023)
plan to watch them in: The Hymn of Death (2018), Angel's Last Mission: Love (2019)
thoughts: watching shin hye-sun in See You In My 19th Life was life-changing. she was able to make me cry pretty much every single episode of the drama. i can't even begin to describe how much i love how she conveys almost every single emotion. she's terribly underrated and i need her to make it big asap and see her in a thriller drama right away. -
