I just scrolled through the suggestions, and had a look at the last implemented suggestions. The last new feature is from August 2023 (which was more cosmetic than anything, and is still not complete) and the last one before that is from 2020.

Some parts of the UI feel clunky and could be streamlined. And a lot of suggestions are awaiting implementation, some quite urgent, like an improvement of the blocking feature -- people usually do not get any feedback if their suggestions have been accepted, are being worked on or are still in deliberation.

Is there a roadmap or a planned timeline which new features are currently worked on and which will be next, or which will never be implemented? If there is, where do I find it?
I think more transparency would not only assure those who have issues with the site as it is now, it would also help to build trust that decision makers of MDL have the best interest of their users at heart.

there's a hide/turn off gifs feature?!? i cannae find it anywhere

Probably not, we will probably do that when the v7 come out.

It's in your profile settings, or drop down on the feed post to turn off autoplay.

Thank you for your reply.

... and is there an estimation for that? I'm not asking for a specific date for v7, just a general idea, like "in 2026 at the earliest" or "hopefully by next July" or something like that.
I am aware that things happen and plans change, and maybe I'm just spoiled by Pillowfort's staff who are extremely transparent, but I'd really like to know which suggestions have a chance of being implemented and which don't.

re. autoplay, I did not know where it is either, and now I might have found it, thanks. Is it labelled "never autoplay videos"? I'd never have guessed that this means gifs because a gif is an image file format, not a video file format.
And if it is, it unfortunately doesn't stop gifs in profile pictures, which makes migraine attacks much more probable as those pics are everywhere with their blinking and moving, all of them in different frequencies.
Oh, well.

The only thing I've found is for videos, not gifs. Short repetitions like with gifs mess my brain up too. Mine is more prone to seizure than migraines, but either way it's important for some of us to keep our exposure to triggers low whenever we can so those we can't control are less likely to tip us over. And gif avatars are all over the site.

No ETA on V7, original plan was this year.

I don't think we have any plans for the GIFs yet, since it requires a whole site change. You might want to check out browsers that have the ability to turn them off or use extensions as a temporary solution.

I'm really disappointed to see that there haven't been any significant updates since 2020. While the cosmetic changes are nice, I'm more concerned about the functionality and user experience. The blocking feature, in particular, needs urgent attention. I think it's important for the MDL team to be more transparent about their roadmap and priorities. This would help us understand where things stand and feel more confident in the platform's future.
