my basil experience is only with purchased pasta sauce/pesto
current curry powder i have's ingredients: organic coriander, o turmeric, o mustard, o cumin, o fenugreek, o paprika, o cayenne, o cardamom, o nutmeg, o cinnamon and o cloves
eightocci:i have used ginger with mango
Oh do you mean ginger powder or fresh ginger root? I've never tried ginger with mangos before but it sounds delicious!
Cumin and curry powder (though the curry powder I use is a bit different) are my go-to's for simple vegetable stir-fry. I actually add a pinch of cumin and nutmeg to everything (not sure if you should lol but I agree it always adds a bit of oomph to the flavour :)). I mostly use dried herbs in pasta sauce too but also for seasoning chicken.
Last night-Roasted Broccoli and baby Portobello Mushrooms (had to stop myself from eating them like candy right out of the pan), Baked Potato, Black Beans with chili seasoning.
Tonight-Ina Garten's Vegan Vegetable Split Pea Soup. My first time to try making it and it was delicious. Since I had to omit the garlic for hubby I hit it with a couple of shots of cayenne pepper. ;)
@ daydreaming most recently out of ginger 'dust'. previously liked lightly dried which somewhat refluffs with my brown rice https://www.gourmetgarden.com/en-us/products/lightly-dried/ginger
i tend to like ginger for the warming sensation it gives off. first hooked on 'chimes' original then mango https://chimesgourmet.com/
sparkling probiotic drink - imagine ginger ale and lemonade had a baby? only one i can get because stevia used in everything else last i checked https://www.kevita.com/lemon-ginger/
flat crispy cookies with crystalized ginger yum! https://www.tatesbakeshop.com/3-pk-gluten-free-ginger-zinger.html
my apologies posting while hungry and should be grocery shopping (a bad choice at the moment haha)!
Reading this thread has made me hungry. Everything sounds delicious. My dinner is just boring grilled chicken with salad. I always have harissa paste in my fridge so it goes on chicken meat veg whenever I feel lazy. I love to cook and I am a big Ottolenghi fan so I love trying his recipes quite frequently
@eightocci Oh cool, I knew there are dried garlic flakes but I didn't know ginger came in dried fluffs like that too! And I agree, I love the warming sensation it has. For afternoon tea, we always have ginger tea with oatmeal cookies. The tea is made with black tea, sugar or honey, and the juice of some fresh ginger root (we crush it with a pestle and let it soak for a minute in hot water). Honestly ever since we started having tea this way, we can't have plain tea anymore lol. It's great for when you have stomach aches (and cramps!) too.
@Its You Never heard of Ottolenghi but his recipes look great. I really want to try out his Laxpudding!
The weather was so nice, we had BBQ and dinner outside (didn't even need sweaters!).
had red lentil pasta with sweet potato puree, cumin and chicken
cumin does not seem to be agreeing with me :( but food was yummy when it was hot off stove
