Oricon released on February 16 the results of a poll conducted on around a thousand participants ranging in age from their teens to their 50s. They had to choose their favorite Asadora heroine. Let's check out the results!


10. Yoshine Kyoko as Bando Sumire
(Beppin-san)

Kyoko stars as Sumire, a girl who will establish the first children's goods store in postwar Japan.


9. Yoshitaka Yuriko as Ando Hana
(Hanako to Anne)

Hanako Muraoka, a woman living in the Meiji period who will become a translator
and translate the classic novel "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery.


8. Takahata Mitsuki as Kobashi Tsuneko
(Toto nee-chan)

The first woman to launch a female magazine in a country devastated by WWII.


7. Tsuchiya Tao as Tsumura Mare
(Mare)

Mare struggles between having a steady job and pursuing her real dream of being a patisserie.


6. Horikita Maki as  Shimomura Umeko
(Doctor Ume)

Maki stars as a young woman who lives in postwar Japan and struggles to become a female doctor.


5. Higashide Anne as Uno Meiko
(Gochisousan)

Meiko moves from Tokyo to Osaka with her husband and experiences a range of cultural differences.
It is interesting to note that the main leads became a married couple in real life too!


4. Kuninaka Ryoko as Uemura Eri
(Churasan)

A heartwarming story of childhood sweethearts who reunite years later at the same hospital,
working as a nurse and doctor.


3. Arimura Kasumi as Yatabe Mineko
(Hiyokko)

A country bumpkin Mineko and her life-changing transition from the countryside to the busy Tokyo.

(Asa ga Kita)

Haru stars as Shirooka Asa, an intelligent businesswoman and the founder of the first Japanese university.


1. Nounen Rena as Amano Aki
(Amachan)

And the first place goes to the cute Aki!
We follow her dreams from becoming ama-chan (a female diver) to an idol.
