Love Song for Illusion unveiled character posters featuring Park Ji Hoon, Hong Ye Ji, Hwang Hee, and Ji Woo.
Love Song for Illusion is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of a man with two contrasting personalities and a woman hiding a dark past.
The first teaser of Love Song for Illusion gave a glimpse into the characters' stories. Now, the newly-released posters featuring the four lead actors — Park Ji Hoon as Prince Sa Jo Hyun/Aak Hee, Hong Ye Ji as Yeon Wol/Kyera, Hwang Hee as Prince Sa Jo Yong, and Ji Woo as Jin Chae Ryeon — portray the desires of the characters.
Park Ji Hoon shines as a gentle and warm-hearted prince while at the same time flaunting his charm as Ak Hee. The texts read, "I lost my way because of you" (Prince Sa Jo Hyun) and "You have finally become my woman" (Ak Hee).
Hong Ye Ji, playing Yeon Wol, who unwittingly becomes the crown prince's concubine, Eun Hyo Bi, while planning the king's assassination, wears a vibrant red attire. The text "I've been waiting for this day. I will take your life" hints at her heart-wrenching story as a descendant of a fallen dynasty and her quest for revenge.
On the other hand, Hwang Hee transforms into Prince Sa Jo Yong, Sa Jo Hyun's half-brother who has hidden ambitions. The text on his poster reads, "Now, I am the king of Asatae."
Ji Woo as Jin Chae Ryeon, the crown princess who stands at the center of the palace's struggle, adds to the intrigue. The text on her poster expresses her desire — "I will definitely become the empress."
The production team of Love Song for Illusion stated, "Through the vivid colors and suggestive phrases in the character posters, we aimed to reveal the desires of each character. In particular, we used contrasting colors to effectively depict Park Ji Hoon's portrayal of the dual roles of Prince Sa Jo Hyun and Ak Hee."
Love Song for Illusion is scheduled to air in January 2024. The K-drama will take over the time slot of the historical rom-com The Matchmakers.
