Mun Ka Young and Choi Hyun Wook are confirmed to be the next K-drama couple on tvN.
On July 12, it was officially confirmed that Mun Ka Young and Choi Hyun Wook will lead the upcoming romantic comedy K-drama Black Salt Dragon. Actress Im Se Mi will also be part of the cast and will reunite with True Beauty co-star Mun Ka Young.
This will be the grand comeback of Mun Ka Young in tvN after almost three years. She was last seen on the broadcast channel in 2022 through the K-drama Link: Eat, Love, Kill with Yeo Jin Goo, Kim Ji Young, Ye Soo Jung, Song Deok Ho, and Lee Bom So Ri.
Mun Ka Young last starred in the JTBC K-drama The Interest of Love. Last year, she made a special appearance in the series Delightfully Deceitful. She will also make another special appearance in the upcoming K-drama Cashero.
Meanwhile, this will be the first confirmed K-drama project of Choi Hyun Wook after the 2023 K-drama High Cookie. This will also be the second time he will be the main lead of a romance K-drama genre on a broadcast channel in his entire career.
Choi Hyun Wook is known for being part of the hit K-dramas Twinkling Watermelon, D.P. Season 2, Weak Hero Class 1, Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Racket Boys, and more.
Black Salt Dragon is the collaboration work of director Lee Soo Hyun (Delightfully Deceitful, Sh**ting Stars, and Find Me in Your Memory) and writer Kim Soo Yeon.
The upcoming K-drama will depict its story from the webtoon of the same name by Hye Jin Yang. It will revolve around a man and a woman who met each other through online games in the early 2000s and reconnected in their work 16 years later.
Mun Ka Young will portray the role of Baek Soo Jung, the planning team leader of Yongsung Department Store.
Choi Hyun Wook will portray the role of Ban Ki Yeon, the only successor of the conglomerate group and the boss of Baek Soo Jung.
The two previously will showcase their love-and-hate relationship as previous online game players and now co-workers.
Black Salt Dragon will premiere in the first half of 2025.
