2019 seems to be the year of celebrity divorces. After Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's fairytale-like romance had come to an end and after the famous Japanese actor Beat Takeshi divorced his wife of 40 years two months ago, now we got another divorce scandal that is shaking Korean media.
Gu Hye Seon, the actress and star of 2009 hit drama Boys Over Flowers and Ahn Jae Hyun are getting divorced. However, they are not doing it quietly as the SongSong couple did.
On August 18, Gu Hye Sun shared on her Instagram profile that Ahn Jae Hyun wanted to divorce her. She shared screenshots of text messages (now deleted) between them, telling her fans that she did not want to divorce. Later that day, HB Entertainment (who represents both actors) released an official statement about the divorce, which Gu Hye Su denied on Instagram.
On August 21, Ahn Jae Hyun decided to respond to his wife's messages by posting a reply of his own on his own Instagram account and explaining his side of the story. Soon after that his wife responded to it.
It seems that there is a lot of bitterness and anger between the couple since they decided to publicize their private quarrels.
Gu Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun met on the set of Blood in 2015 and fell in love. The media was buzzing with how cute they looked together and it seems that their romance was genuine. However, the consequences of this public feud are already being set in motion - Ahn Jae Hyun has been removed as one of Giordano's models, the new season of a variety program New Journey to the West has been postponed, the cosmetics brand MERBLISS removed him as one of his models, Gu Hye Sun will be edited out from an upcoming episode of My Ugly Duckling and the release of her upcoming essay has been postponed.
