The Dramaland gave us so many choices, different genres, great actors and awesome stories. Most of the time, I prioritized dramas from Korea, Mainland China and Japan. I know there are lots of potential for new discoveries in other countries, like Thailand, the Philippines and Taiwan.
We have lots of ways on how to select our next target. I choose my next drama based on the genre that I’m currently obsessed with. Dissecting countries’ strongest points leads me to an easier path of choosing what is the next drama to watch.
Most of the time, I watch dramas from these three countries so I cannot evaluate the others. You can share an opinion about the other country. I also gave some drama recommendations. Enjoy reading... :)
Definitely, Korean Dramas show me the perfect romance with a perfect guy. Well, that’s how they got me interested and addicted to watching K-dramas. And let’s be honest, we started to set a standard when finding a guy/girl by fantasizing about having those beautiful stories of true love. Korean dramas are so great in touching our inner fantasies! They give us hope, and we learn from different experiences they show to us. From teenage feels to adult romance, as well as giving a second chance to your granny and grampa, K-drama will give you the mood of the day. |
I avoided their historical dramas for a very long time because I thought those stunts pretty lame and CGI, but I was 1000% wrong about that. Right now, I can’t switch to other genres because I freaking love their historical dramas. The writing of the stories is absolutely stunning, heart touching, sacrificial love brilliant OST, the court dramas plus the mind-blowing strategy in fighting for the power and throne... The fighting scenes are so great that I put in my bucket list to learn Kung Fu and Swordsmanship. In addition to that, they never out of budget for those beautiful costume and give you hints on their culture and a little touch on their history. |
Whenever I watch Japanese dramas, there’s always this unsettling connection from the character and their story, and I’m always in an emotional state whenever I finish it. They give these realistic settings and focus on raw emotions so much that I started to wonder and look into my inner heart. What I also appreciate is they use the real surroundings’ feels, not concerning much about capturing perfect view for each scene. It shows appreciation for our life’s journey, whether good or bad and looks at the bright side of life. Unnatural Death / I Want to Eat Your Pancreas / Rich Man, Poor Woman |
