Hello everyone! In this article I’d like to tell you about the newest Disney+ Korean drama Rookie Cops! To be honest with you, I started watching this drama three weeks after it started airing because I was skeptical about starting it. I was scared it would be boring and childish... but here I am now, waiting for new episodes with so much excitement and loving these characters and plot. If you are not sure about watching it because of similar reasons to mine, this article is for you!
At the very beginning, let me introduce this drama to those of you who don’t know anything about it

Rookie Cops is a Korean drama about young students who are studying at the Korean National Police University to become police officers in the future. The first episodes introduced us to many original characters who crossed paths at this university to spend a long time together. Even though they came here for different reasons and from different environments, they share meals and rooms, and study together for exams. Further in the plot, they are fighting together for an amazingly important thing, slowly creating a beautiful bond.
Besides this college vibe, Rookie Cops shows us many different scenes: cute romance ones, where we, as viewers, can’t stop smiling stupidly in front of a screen; mystery scenes, where we are trying to figure out the ‘bad guy’; investigation scenes where we can see how to find clues and catch criminals. We can also see many more, such as raising an important topic (for example, bullying), and many scenes about amazing friendship between the characters of this drama.
With this, let me introduce an amazing cast of Rookie Cops!
Kang Daniel as Wi Seunghyun | Chae Soo Bin as Go Eunkang |
Lee Shin Young as Kim Tak | Cheon Young Min as Shin Ari |
Park Yoo Na as Ki Hanna | Kim Woo Seok as Seo Beomjoo |
Min Do Hee as Woo Jooyoung | Park Sung Joon as Yoo Daeil |
There are also many other amazing actors, such as Kim Sang Ho as Cha Yoo Gon, Lee Joon Woo as Uhm Hyuk, or Jung Young Joo as Lee Hee Sook and many more! The drama can be this enjoyable only thanks to all these amazing actors who are doing their best with those roles.
Before the premiere, Disney+ introduced the main characters as their MBTI personalities, which you can see here. All of the 8 main characters are different, some of them are introverts, others are extroverts. Despite their diversity, this drama shows us how they can study and work together, completing each other while overcoming various situations. I think it really great how the drama shows each of them having such a different personality.
*Please take note that this role is the first one in Kang Daniel's acting career. We can see that it’s not an amazing acting, but he’s trying and doing a very good job in his first role.
I really enjoy this drama for so many reasons
First of all, various topics combined! Rookie Cops is a very funny show with a lot of jokes and funny scenes. I literally had a stomach ache from all this laughing. It has a lot of important and sad scenes. The romance part is made very well – it looks real, not too much sugar, not too much affectation. They did an amazing job with connecting the mystery, romance and comedy in one drama. Everything has its own right moment.
(If you already watched this drama – I know you are laughing with me seeing this screenshot. If you didn’t – I promise you that it’s going to be sooo funny!)
Secondly, friendship. I got really moved by so many scenes in this series. I saw characters supporting each other, I saw beautiful cooperation to make things better. I saw sharing worries and tears and pain. All of these people came to KNPU with a different experience and background, but they share their life together. I think it was made very well, and in further episodes I expect other amazing scenes.
I am also very curious about said 'mystery' part of this drama. In the very first scene of Rookie Cops, we can see a scene of a young man dying. It's really easy to forget about it further in the episode. However, in the next episodes, we are slowly getting more details and it's really interesting to try guessing what happened. I am also interested in what's going to happen with some of the characters who are associated with those events.
Thank you for reading! If you are watching Rookie Cops, let me know in the comments what you think about it! If you don't, let me know if you're going to try watching it!
