Hello everyone, today I am here to introduce Something About 1 Percent, a romantic-comedy drama that I am currently watching. It is a 16 episode drama, based on a novel, that airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I am enjoying so far, and I think you are going to like it too.
The Story
The story is a rom-com drama and has a rich boy/poor girl cliche; however, what make me like this one is that the girl is smart. I like Asian dramas a lot, but sometimes the female lead gets on my nerves. They can be too kind and naive, and that behavior is just idiotic. So when I started this one, it got my attention right away. This is a remake from a 2003 drama, 1% of Anything.
Kim Da Hyun (Jeon So Min) is a very kind school teacher. One day she helps an old man without knowing that he is a very rich. The man is so impressed with the girl that he decides he wants her to marry his grandson, Lee Jae In (Ha Suk Jin). He is smart and good-looking, but very arrogant. The old man changes his will So that Jae In will have to marry Da Hyun in order to inherit.
Jae In tries to persuade Da Hyun with the money she could have from marrying him, but she wants to marry someone she likes and hates his "rich boy" personality. But in exchange for helping the people she loves, and thanks to Jae In's negotiating skills with his grandfather, she agrees to date him for a few months for the will to take effect. Will love bloom from such and weird relationship?
The Cast
Kim Da Hyun is played by Jeon So Min, and it is my first time seeing her in a drama. As I said before, I like her a lot because she is not the type of girl that accepts everything. She is smart and even if she is not rich, she has her values. She would rather have a normal life with someone she loves than having a lot of money and being unhappy. I hope she stays like this until the end!
Jeon So Min as Kim Da Hyun
Ha Suk Jin is in another drama this year (he's also starring in Drinking Solo) and he plays Lee Jae In. I prefer his character more in this drama because I think he is going to changea little because of the girl. However, in Drinking Solo he seems to not progress ( at least so far) and I don't like his character's personality in that show.
Ha Suk Jin as Lee Jae In
Something About 1% just started this month so it's very easy to catch up. It is a light drama with quite a few laughs, and it's very enjoyable for everyone.
