Episode 4 Recap
Kang Chi collapses against Yeo Wool, imagining her to be Chung Jo. The blue lights suddenly appear as Yeo Wool remembers So Jung’s warning that she should avoid the person she meets under a peach tree with a crescent moon.Satan (Gwan Woong) arrives at the 100 Year Inn and requests a room. Tae Seo explains that there are currently no rooms available. Satan uses his position as a former official to persuade Tae Seo to comply with his request. After checking the rooms available, there is no way to make room for Satan and his minions without asking some of the current guests to vacate their rooms.
Yeo Wool is staring at Kang Chi while he sleeps Edward Cullen style. She tries to wake him but to no avail. Gon Yi enters and is finally able to rouse Kang Chi by almost killing him with a sword. Kang Chi tries to fight Gon Yi but he easily evades him. Yeo Wool steps in to stop Kang Chi and asks him how he could treat the person who saved him in such a way. Kang Chi doesn’t believe that she could have done this and begins laughing, so Yeo Wool delivers a high kick to his face.
Yeo Wool and Gon Yi have tied up Kang Chi and are walking him like a dog. He wants to be let go, but his captors refuse, because he constantly tries to fight them.
Tae Seo refuses to do this and states that the people at the Inn, high-ranking officials and even the king are to be treated equally. Satan turns his words around and accuses him of treason. One of his minions put a sword against Tae Seo’s throat. One of the inn’s servants reaches Kang Chi and informs of the problem with Gwan Woong.
Tae Seo’s mother rushes out and begs Satan to forgive her son and promises to make room for him, but Satan states that this is no longer about a room. He suddenly stops and stares as Chung Jo makes her way through the crowd of onlookers. She appears to transform from Seo Hwa and back to herself (uh oh, this isn’t a good sign).
Kang Chi suddenly appears, blocking Satan’s view of Chung Jo and a large gust of wind blows through the crowd. He bows to the mother who quickly looks away and apologizes for being late. Yeo Woll and Gon Yi are watching this scene from the rooftop.
Kang Chi introduces himself and states that he protects the inn from anyone that tries to make trouble there. He tells Satan to leave quietly or face a fight. Several of his minions attack Kang Chi, but he takes them out quite easily. Then, one of Gwan Woong’s soldiers notices that Kang Chi’s bracelet is glowing.
Kang Chi questions Satan if he wishes to continue and he laughs saying that he is an interesting person. He then says he wanted to come and see what was interesting about the 100 Year Inn, and says there are many interesting things with his gaze finally settling on Chung Jo (run girl, run away fast). Suddenly a soldier appears and offers Satan a mansion to stay in, so he and his minions leave.
The next day Lord Park is angrily questioning about the whereabouts of the guards , who were doing the mother’s bidding instead of protecting the inn. Kang Chi takes the blame and makes a story about him getting drunk and the guards looking for him. The mother insists that Lord Park go and beg for forgiveness while chastising Kang Chi for not having any manners (this chick is annoying me as much as Satan right now).
Satan is in a gisaeng house being pampered when Lord Park pays him a visit. The mother is questioning Kang Chi as to why he came back. He replies that he heard there was trouble at the inn and wanted to help, to which she replies that he should’ve acted like he didn’t know (not thanks for saving us or sorry for almost beating you to death). He asks why she doesn’t like him and what he did to warrant her coldness. She answers that he makes her uncomfortable and she doesn’t even know if he’s human. He asks what she means by that and she leaves without answering him.
Chung Jo, her mother and servants are looking at pretty fabrics and discussing her upcoming wedding while Kang Chi watches with a sorrowful expression.
Yeo Wol comes up to Kang Chi and reveals that she knows he has a crush on Lord Park’s daughter. He asks her how she got in and she replies that she’s staying in a small room at the end of the inn. He tells her to stay out of other people’s business when she hits him over the head with a bamboo stick. She apologizes, but he grabs the stick and asks her if she wants to die early. She replies that she thought he would dodge it. She figures out that his skills change depending on his opponent and their intent.
She challenges him to a sword fight, but he refuses saying he was in a weird situation yesterday and couldn’t perform to the best of his ability. She then says, “King spider,” which causes him to suddenly turn around. She asks if he is scared of king spiders to which he answers no. He begins to walk away when she suddenly yells “King spider!” causing him to yell and jump around. She then asks again is he is scared of king spiders. He argues that he’s not and walks away, wondering how she knew that.
Gwan Woong is still at the gisaeng house, and is taking his sweet time. Meanwhile, Lord Park waits for his attention. Finally, Satan meets with Lord Park and Tae Seo. Lord Park says that he heard that his kids acted rudely the night before and came to apologize. Gwan Woong says that Kang Chi must have 200 hits to compensate for his behavior. Lord Park replies that Kang Chi is not a bad person and that 200 hits is punishment for a far more severe crime. Gwan Woong responds that no man that has messed with him has lived. Lord Park offers him something else if he will forgive his children. Gwang Woong asks for the 100 Years Inn, he then says if that’s too much then he wants Lord Park’s daughter. Instead, Lord Park volunteers to take the 100 hits himself. Satan allows him to leave, but plans to have him killed and frame Kang Chi for the murder.
Kang Chi tries to follow Gon Yi and Yeo Wool stealthily, but they know he is tailing them and easily lose him. Gon Yi wonders how he is the same person that fought so many men last night, and that he only seems to be able to fight those with bad intentions.
Kang Chi runs into the group of thugs from earlier, and they are terrorizing the local merchants. Yeo Wool and Gon Yi are reporting to an unnamed Lord with a list of unsolved murders when Kang Chi comes into the frame, throwing the thugs around. He then gets all the thugs to get on their knees and gets back the money Lord Park gave them. He then turns around and gives the money to the merchants.
Yeo Wool sees So Jung and asks what would happen if she wasn’t able to avoid the person under the tree with the moon--if she could run away from fate. He answers that one of the two may die. She asks who will die, but So Jung replies that the life and death of a human being is according to Heaven’s wishes.
Kang Chi returns home to bring some gifts to his father, but sees his father, his mother, Chung Jo, and Tae Seo spending time together. Kang Chi watches from afar when a guard approaches and tells him he doesn’t belong there. Kang Chi replies that just watching makes him feel like part of the family (aww poor gumiho baby).
Yeo Wool is practicing his swordsmanship skills in the courtyard. She recalls that she might have met Kang Chi as a child. A gust of wind causes the petals from the tree to flow around her. Kang Chi appears behind her clapping, exclaiming that she is quite talented to cause the petals to move without touching the tree branches.
Yeo Wool tells Kang Chi to continue patrolling, but he blocks her path and asks her how she knew he was scared of king spiders, because he never told anyone. He asks if they had met before. She asks him if he remembers her and he says no. She says, then they haven’t met before, because if they don’t remember meeting each other, then there is no meaning to it. He asks if he did remember then there could possibly be a meaning.
They stare at each other for a few seconds and then Kang Chi rushes over and pulls Yeo Wool down just as a throwing star zooms past. They look up and see assassins on the rooftop.
Lord Park is in his study when a gust of wind blows out the candles. As he lights them again, So Jung enters his room. Gwan Woong is playing a game with a gisaeng and says that the hunting game should be starting now.
Yeo Wool and Kang Chi follow the assassins and corner them only to watch as the assassins begin to multiply. Yeo Wol states that they are trapped in an illusion. So Jung and Lord Park are seated in his room. Lord Park asks him about Kang Chi’s identity and his bracelet. Lord Park starts to explain some weird occurrences about Kang Chi, but So Jung seems a bit off. Suddenly So Jung puts a sword to Lord Park’s throat then changes form into a masked assassin.
The large group of assassins closes in on Kang Chi and Yeo Wool. He asks her if the swords are illusions as well to which she replies to be careful, because they could still hurt them. They prepare to fight as the group attacks.
COMMENTS
Goliath1357:Is Gwan Woong behind the multiplying ninja assassins or is another dark force at work? I like this drama and Choi Kang Chi ( he really reminds me of his dad with his puppy dog smiles and adorableness). However, my fears about Suzy proved correct. She is very stiff and shows little to no emotion on her face. I fear that no matter how good the rest of the drama is, it will not compensate for her lackluster performance and lack of chemistry with Lee Seung Gi.
Laugarza:
I'm excited to see other supernatural elements appearing in the show besides Choi Kang Chi. Something is definitely going on with one of the men working with Jo Gwan Woong. He took to much notice of Choi Kang Chi during the confrontation with Gwang Woong. I'm loving how Kang Chi goes from helpless guy to the strong tough guy who acts as the protector around town. What do I find interesting about Yeo Wool? Her companion!^^ Yeo Wool's character is a little vague (what type of personality does she have?) but I am hoping that changes as we get to know her past history with Choi Kang Chi and her character develops more. Poor Choi Kang Chi looks like he is in for a lot of trouble as he gets closer to age 20.
