Hi, dear MDL'ers! Spring has just begun so let's take a look at what kind of dramas we can expect in April and the beginning of May 2019! March wasn't a very active month IMO but April has a lot of surprises for us in its store, especially in Japan (where it's considered a month of prosperity so it's no wonder they will be releasing so many dramas!)

The 100th Asadora (morning drama) takes us back to the Showa era and it follows the adventures of a girl Natsu who lost her parents during the war so she moves to the Tokachi region in Hokkaido with her foster father who is a dairy farmer. Upon graduating from senior high school, Natsu moves to Tokyo and joins the budding animation industry in order to fulfil her dream of becoming an animator.

My Fellow Citizens

This criminal drama shows a story that a con man, who marries a police officer, gets involved with unexpected incidents.

What Did You Eat Yesterday?

Shiro’s daily routine is to leave work on time and head to a discount supermarket nearby. His partner Yabuki Kenji is the affable hairdresser. The two of them share a two-bedroom apartment and the finer points of two men living together come up at the dining table every day.

Beautiful World

The drama tells of an incident of school violence which leaves a young boy on the precipice of life and death as his family seeks justice in his stead. Park Sun Ho, who is in his 3rd year of middle school, becomes a victim of school violence and gets seriously injured. His parents try to reveal the truth behind the assault that hurt their son.

Perfect World

Architect Ayukawa Itsuki is left paralyzed from the waist down by a sudden accident and is confined to using a wheelchair. Tsugumi is charmed by Itsuki and endeavours to optimistically live life together.

HIStory3: Trap

Radiation House

Igarashi Iori is a talented radiographer who believes the “truth” is definitely captured in CT and MRI images. He and radiologist Amakasu An work at a hospital’s radiology department where they determine the causes of patients’ illnesses and injuries.

Secret Garden

An arrogant and eccentric CEO and a poor and humble stuntwoman swap bodies after a strange sequence of events.

Different Dreams

An espionage melodrama that takes place in Gyeongseong (now known as Seoul), Manchuria, and Singapore during the Japanese colonial occupation. Lee Yo Won will play a surgeon who has been raised by Japanese parents. Yoo Ji Tae plays the leader of a secret society fighting for Korean independence. The two characters become undercover operatives for the Korean provisional government based in Shanghai.

The Best Twins

The story of the twin brothers, Per, the straight and Pond, the gay. Pond have a relationship with their neighbour Tee. The family life is shaken by the twins older sister Pad, who is against her brother Pond being gay. When Pond ex-boyfriend Tee returns, things start going even more chaotic.

The Secret Life of My Secretary

Do Min Ik is an intelligent man with a heart of stone and the Chief of Team 1 at T&T Mobile Media who always relies on his secretary. After losing his vision, he begins to find his true identity and in the process, learns to respect the people around him, including his secretary, Jung Gal Hee.

In Hand

Himokura Tetsu is a scientist who specialises in the study of parasites. He loathes people and is very sadistic. Tetsu bought a huge botanical garden in Hakone which he converted into his home and lab. He holes up in the conservatory where he researches his favourite parasites.

The drama about a man and a woman who tragically dies and is given another chance at life through soul-reviving marbles in a magical abyss. Go Se Yeon and Cha Min begin to work as a lawyer and an administrator at a private law firm and decides to investigate the magical incident. Romance blooms in the office as the two intertwine together to accept their same fate.

Mirror Twins

An attempted murder takes place. Detective Katsuragi Keigo investigates the case. The only evidence found at the crime scene is the same DNA as Detective Keigo. He believes the criminal in the attempted murder case may be his older twin brother Yugo. At a young age, Yugo was kidnapped.

Put Your Head on My Shoulder 

As Si Tu Mo’s graduation is nearing, she is confused about her future plans. She tries out all sorts of things all the time and is unable to make her own decisions. Her ordinary days are suddenly shaken up when the genius Physics student Gu Wei Yi appears in her life. The two accidentally end up living together and chaos begins.

Mung Bean Flower

Set during the Donghak Peasant Revolution which took place from 1894-1895. Two half-brothers fight on opposite sides of this rebellion.
Baek Yi Kang is the first son of an important family. His father is wealthy and he is notorious as a local government officer. But, Yi Kang’s mother is from the lowest class. Due to his mother's low social class, people look down on Baek Yi Kang.
