wasted potential
even tho i think that the tanked reviews on rotten tomato and google are deserved bc of the insensitivity to the ongoing genocide im going to be completely unbiased. this show had sm potential and the premise of the plot was really interesting but executed horribly. could have been completed in 10-12 eps it dragged way too long and what the hell was the last episode?? they completely lost the plot and threw them into a completely unrelated war like? and no hate to the actor herself, but the main female lead’s character was so annoying and useless they did not craft her personality/ambition/character well. besides that there was absolutely no chemistry between the main leads every time they came on screen i had to skip their “lovey dovey” parts. this was the first drama in a while where i was more excited to see the side couple than the main. there was so many loopholes and things that lacked basic common sense that u had to turn off ur brain and throw all logic out the window to get through an episode. it was full of cliches, and i will say that the first 4 eps were good, but after that everything was totally predictable and very boring to watch. utter doodooEsta resenha foi útil para você?

recently, Iwas so disappointing about Kdramas since 1 year the genres are so focused on revenge, blood, politics, slow burn etc.. but than When the phone rings appeared and now I am totally happy again.. I wish the episodes would be 16, not 12.. but 1 sentence is enough to describe; mind blowing, excited and passionate! I am a big fan of male lead.. For him Istarted to watch but to be honest both male lead and female lead are rocking…story is really so interesting, at leats the start point is good.. waiting for more episodes 😍😍

Good entertainment but bad drama
Before reading please note that this review can contain some spoilers.I must admit that zi had a great time with this drama for most of the time. However in my personal opinion kdramas are geting worse and worse this days.
The strongest part of this drama was acting. Actors surely nailed their roles and made the climate so it was very enjoyable to watch. And that would be end of good parts.
As I watched literally hundreds of kdramas the plot was rather predictible. Maybe two or three things suprised me. So the story itself wasn't anything special or innovative. I would say it was full of typical kdramas cliches.
I didn't like the relation between the FL and ML. This guy literally was treating his wife like invisible for three years but when she wanted a divorce he had a change of heart. As always it was also unbelievable for me that FL suddenly fell in love with ML after being ignored for about three years.
And the ending... i know it was also in the web novel but still it could be made better.
To sum up you can have a good fun watching but sorry this drama definitely is not a masterpiece.

My new addiction
This drama just makes me stay excited for every ep. the acting is great and the cast is my fav actors and actresses. the story and the tension is top tier. we got one of the best chemistry in 2024 series here. love the ost and I keep listening to it on repeat, it is amazing. love everything till now and I hope it remains great till the last. I wish I had waited for all the eps to start watching because now I have to wait every week and it's tourturing I can't wait to see the next eps. really this year is full of amazing drama and this one might top them if it goes as great as now till the endEsta resenha foi útil para você?

No Drama, Just Thriller (with Makjang Ending)
The overall storyline is good. The pace of the story is quite fast, you can enjoy it since the very first episode. The pace picked up a bit after the phone stops ringing, but you may not notice it since it does not have much difference. You will enjoy more thriller in this show. At first I thought we will get a lot of heartbreaks since Sa-Eon statement about "Call me when there is corpse". I was wrong then. The romance is pretty straightforward, no need any painful flavor of faded or unexpressed love (at least until last episode). The thriller itself does a great job, since I saw a lot of theories appeared prior the airing of each episodes. The return of In-A successfully misleads a lot of audience, since she becomes the first person to side with the main leads. Both lead actors have a quite exceptional performance in this show. Soo-Bin does an excellent job potraying a fragile and vulnerable Hui-Ju, while Yeon-Seok potrays a stiff and strict bureaucrat who doesn't know anything about love and how to love.Good storyline does not mean it is flawless. Na Yu-Ri does not get a good purpose for second lead, only to complete a second lead love puzzle. On the other hand, it is a bit weird that Sa-Eon keeps allowing Hui-Ju to use the burner phone, even after knowing that it is her behind the blackmails. Sa-Eon is a government negotiatior after all, he must have experience dealing with some threats against the country. However, he somehow fails to notice that the phone maybe hacked or tracked (which is logically, highly possible). On the other hand, I also feel that the killer does not have a really good motive to carry out all of his actions. When Sa-Eon confronts him regarding what he wants, he does not have a clear answer but "I want you to feel the same pain". This makes the killer sounds like a maniac psychopath. However if he is really a psychopath, why it takes so long for him to do this? I get it that he has tried to threaten Sa-Eon earlier, but why suddenly his threats become more successful (even off Do-Jae's plan)? Also the severity of threats those are addressed directly to Hui-Ju is somewhat more dangerous than his threats against his "other enemies", which makes him looks like just crazy about Hui-Ju. There are a lot of bloopers too (shoes, clothes altered, etc). But the biggest one is during the crash scene, Il-Gyeong arrives with her wife and In-A in a car. How is this possible because her wife doesn't follow him to the Memorial Park? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW SA-EON SURVIVES THE SHOT! IT IS A DAMN SHOTGUN FIRED FROM A VERY CLOSE RANGE!!! The last two episodes look like a spectacular show from the main leads with extreme pace and a bit confusing timeline, and more likely just a fanservice. To me, the last two episodes are total chaos.
I learned from Tiktok that this show reproduces a lot of scenes from Queen of Tears. I was on Episode 6 when I know it, and I did not notice it initially. As I was progressing throughout the new episodes, I began to see it, and I feel they take too much similar scenes (Sa-Eon searching for Hee-Ju in the woods, car chase scene with Sang-U, Sa-Eon first lines when he wakes up at the hospital, and some other scenes that I may have forgotten). This drama also makes QoT ending doesn't look very bad. Unfortunately, they don't mimic the strategy of soundtrack placement from QoT.
I still recommend this show. It has an enjoyable thriller, with additional sufficient romance. Yes the story quality has dropped a bit after Episode 10, maybe they actually deserve more episodes to explain everything. But hey, at least there isn't any super-uneccessary conflicts towards the end of the show. I would like to give a solid 9 previously, but the messed up final two episodes and excessive number of bloopers make me rethink about it.

Another drama that a serial killer killed
They should’ve scrapped the unnecessary sociopathic serial killer mess and made the story about him, her and the phone.Two people living together in silence and apathy until the phone rings. What starts off as threatening phone calls grows into a shared connection. They spend their nights talking and sharing everything with each other on the phone. He falls for her without realizing and she falls for him but has to pretend to be indifferent.
And the mystery (for him) is who is the caller?
Wouldn’t have minded a whole drama with him running around trying to find the caller and pretending not to know it’s her once he does to keep the calls coming.
It also would’ve fixed the issue of him “having feelings for her for 20 years” and never learning sign language🤷🏾♀️ because in my version, there was no childhood connection or secret feelings and they really were strangers in a contract marriage.
The side plot would’ve focused on the abuse she faced in her family.
But as it stands, with the story we got…I’m gonna give it a 7/10
And that’s me being kind cause the last 2 episodes were absolute shit from a butt (and the mystery was nonsensical trash)

Akhirnya, drama "When the Phone Rings" tamat juga! Ceritanya ngingetin banget sama drama-drama khas Indosiar—penuh konflik yang dramatis dan emosional. Tapi, ada beberapa bagian plot yang bikin penasaran, kayak "Siapa sih?" atau "Kenapa gitu?" Jadi, meskipun ceritanya agak klise, tetap bikin betah nonton sampai selesai.Salah satu hal yang paling oke dari drama ini adalah chemistry pemeran utamanya. Mereka bener-bener cocok dan berhasil bikin penonton ikut ngerasain emosi karakternya.
Sayangnya, endingnya agak kurang nendang. Walaupun begitu, secara keseluruhan drama ini tetap asik buat diikuti.

Great Story, Bad End
The show was AMAZING! It was so good to see another kdrama like this. I missed this genre of dramas. The whole story was really sweet and unique. Seeing the main character not take shit from anyone was so refreshing. The guy also didn’t turn out to be red flag, so yay! The kdrama was perfect for thriller fans as well, like me. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. It was so random and unnecessary. They could have had a fun, fluffy ending but instead they tried to add some weird, political scenes into the ending. first of all, the ending was not good but it wasnt THAT bad for me atleast. this drama was really good up until the 11th episode so naturally i was expecting a much better ending compared to what went down. way too many disappearances in one drama that made the story repetitive. the story couldve wrapped up much better if only he didnt ran away at the end. they shouldve just talked, talked about how they will work their relationship out despite their extremely complicated pasts which would've been simpler and some hard to please people wouldve called it boring but for me that wouldve been much better compared to the whole punishing myself so im gonna go to a war stricken country or whatever that was. the chemistry of the leads was amazing, even their behind the scenes moments had me giggling which is probably the reason why i cant find it in me to wholeheartedly say that this is a bad drama.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
A perfect Romantic Thriller drama..
The best I've watched till now and I don't think this will change in this lifetime. Story is great and the acting is too wonderful. The male lead is not just a green flag but a whole green forest :) He is the man of dreams and I really wish him to exist in reality.What I loved mostly is the part that even though they both knew their secrets and lies, they didn't taunted each other nor exposed to the public but instead they both accepted, loved and supported each other as they are. Details in this drama are too good.
This story isn't something like you sit silent and I will do all the work. They both truly worked hard for each other in their own ways. No wonder ML and FL received best actors awards and best couple award of the year.
OST is wonderful. I loved 'Say My Name' by ML 'Yoo Yeon Seok', and 'See the light' by 'Lim Hyunsik'. I felt soulful after watching this drama.

Drama per chi ha la sindrome di Cenerentola
Bel drama, ma non ho capito tutto l' entusiasmo che c'è dietro, non ci sono argomenti profondi, la protagonista è una vittima senza via di uscita, come al solito la donna è una schiava del terzo millennio e non riesce a liberarsi se non con l' aiuto di un uomo che l'ha amata fin da quando erano bambini e succube di una madre che pensa più a se stessa che alla figlia, da madre e questa è una cosa che mi fa incacchiare non poco! Mah! Va bene per chi ha la sindrome da Cenerentola, trama assurda come al solito soprattutto nel finale, con errori di scene, e vabbè come sempre penso che bisognerebbe fucilare (in senso figurativo) gli sceneggiatori che non sono proiettati nel 2025, ma fanno sti drama con altissimi rate, per quelle che vivono nelle fantasie di fiabe che ci hanno raccontato da bambiniEsta resenha foi útil para você?

It was good until it wasn't!
I was very excited to watch this series, and honestly speaking it delivered until it didn't. Everything was going smoothly and it kept me on the edge of my seat. Everytime an episode ended, I couldn't wait to watch another one, waiting was absolute toucher like pin in the eye toucher... 😑 but the last 2 episodes was lacking a lot, it felt like watching a derailed train.. When the phone rings could have been a 10 star series. They just had to ruin the last two episodes. The last episodes was supposed to be a wrap up, but i felt like they just opened a can of worms that was really unnecessary.
