They could never do better than season 1 !
Color Rush Season 2 was the Korean BL I was most excited about this year!Although I knew it wasn't going to be easy - because Hur Hyun Jun wasn't gonna be there and I was really wondering (worried about) how could they make the plot evolve without him.
Season 1 introduced such an interesting (never seen before) concept to us: monos/probes and this "obsession" of seing the world in colors (for monos). Besides this main plot, there were also some side plots (Yeonwoo's mother missing / Yeonwoo's aunt's researches) that helped carrying the "mystery" part of the drama. This world of monos/probes could have been exploited so much more in season 2!
I dont want to be mean but I feel like season 2 totally ruined everything season 1 built.
For me, it was written kinda like a fanfic; it felt a bit amateur/childish and also rushed but I guess its because they wanted to keep the same format -8 episodes X 15minutes as season 1. This season was not as great and creative as season 1 - like when you're watching it, you can see something's missing ( Yoohan duh) and they tried their best to "cover it".
* Story: It was not enough for me. Where is the passion/obsession we witness in season 1? Where is the Yeonwoo that wanted to kidnap Yoohan to keep him forever?
They could have exploited the probe/mono world much more than what they did (like Mono's website/underwold this need for colors / and the importance of stones like Lapis-lazuli...) and other questions around monos and their relations to the world (is it possible for monos to fall in love with someone else?).
They could have give us something (more) / more chemistry between Yeonwoo and Sehyun.
What about Sehyun's sister - Yewon - and her obsession for surgery? What about their parents?
What about Yohan's friends - why throughout the episodes - was I feeling that they knew much more on the probe/mono world than what they were saying?
Yeonwoo's aunt - she's giving him so much freedom in this season lol + the ending to the "plot" she was giving really disappointed me - it was too obvious, and they could have done it better.
* Acting/cast : It was my first time seeing Hyuk as an actor and I was really surprised (I used to be a big VIXX fan back in 2012-2015, never thought he would become an actor haha) but I guessed he played his role okay. It was a "cliché" role in my opinion - I don't know if I make sense, but he was the side kick that Yeonwoo needed for the story and thats it. There was some cute moments, but the chemistry wasn't as mind-blowing as Yeonwoo-Yoohan in season 1.
Oh Yujin is cute, would have loved to see more of her in the drama! + Yoohan's bestfriends - they need their own stories too in my opinion.
Some passages between Yeonwoo and Sehyun felt forced, and not that cute (to me). I really didn't like the part when they were in the lab - it felt really amateur and too simple for me.
* Rewatch value: Its a no from me. Once was enough. Im glad they released all the episodes at the same time though. (its a real torture to wait for days) But I'm not watching it again.
*Overall value: I feel that this season raised more questions than it answered. The ending wasn't satisfying - was it even a real ending with that kind of "end"?

Color Rush 2, a BL without the love and the color rush
Color Rush 2 is not bad. If this was a new series to even a side story I would have enjoyed the series quite a lot. The problem is: Color Rush 2 is a completely different show from Color Rush.Season 1 is a teen BL romance with the extra spice of the mono/probe world, for that reason, the mom mystery not being solved in season 1 was not a problem for me. Season 2 already started with a big disadvantage when one of the protagonists chose not to come back. With that, at least 2 of the major aspects of the show were weakened. Without Yoo Han we don’t have the romance we spent 8 episodes developing on season 1 and we don’t have a Color Rush, since Yeon Woo doesn’t have probe anymore.
As far as the new stuff, I actually liked Sehyun, and Hyuk was great in the role. I was quite surprised with the dark tone the show took very early on. Despite the 1st episode starting with Yeon narrating how his boyfriend was kidnapped 6 months earlier, by episode 2 we have the death of a teenager by the hands of an evil organization. Yes, season 1 had presented us with several crimes related to the mono/probe relationships and a suicide attempt. But season 1 still had the, literally, colorful moments of the protagonists falling in love. Season 2 is a teen crime/investigation show, where people don’t go to school. That also means that we barely get Min Jae and Joo Haeng scenes.
Based on the post credit scene on episode 8, I’m intrigued with what they’re planning for Color Rush 3. I think it’s far to imagine that they’re recasting Yoo Han’s role, since I doubt the actor is coming back.

Wow...

The story did indeed develop further, but was too rushed and sometimes a bit forced too.
Changing the main cast just made the whole series drop a whole level...
The the overal feeling was not conveyed and especially actions scened were just akward..
I mean, the acting between the two leads wasn't bad and they do have cute moments together, but it does by far not reach the chemestry of season 1 (also the explanation for that change in the storyline was just waay to forced and just stupid...only random comment on the first episode and then never to be spoken about).
Kinda sad, as I really liked season one.

A little bit disappointing
Though I know that it's for the plot and stuff, I still kind of don't like having Hyun-jun missing, though the name "Go Yoo-han" was mentioned multiple times during S2, I can't help but want him back. Though he might be back in Season 3 unless he becomes a different person then I'm not sure about that. It's just that I liked Hyun-jun and feel like he should've been in Season 2, I didn't mind it either, it was just that I kinda wished he was there though it might probably ruin the plot so Idk.

This disproves what they say about sequels
I absolutely loved season 2! The acting here, chemistry and the way the story flowed was so much better than in season 1. We got to se a gradual growth in interest between the two MLs. Yoo Jun got to show more of his emotional range and Auntie too! XD whack him again for me Auntie! haha <3 This was worth seeing although the fight scene could be done a little better, the bruises/makeup was on point for where they were hit. The 8.5 is more so for the overall story; the mysteriousness of one of the MLs seemed a little off, followed by the strange, sudden death of a character I was getting attached too, the oddity of the friends intervening out of nowhere & how the ML figured it was them. Seriously, there's no way he'd have a way of knowing that... But I stop there, watch all of the ending (^_-) I look forward to another season!Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Ultimately as (un?)satisfying as season 1
I finally finished Color Rush 2 today (since I watched it on Viki), and I have honestly concluded that it is neither better nor worse than its previous installment. I decided to go in with no expectations since I gave myself too high expectations for season one. I wasn't even disappointed with the news of a new character instead of Yoo-han, I was just impressed that the screenwriters were able to do it. After completing the show, I've come up with this conclusion: this show was better in ways Color Rush was worse, but it also lacked the things Color Rush did right. The story was once again quite innovative, something we haven't seen before in dramas. The problem is that they introduced a bunch of new things that weren't established in the first season. Probe drugs? Secret online forums? Some weird cult? Yeon-woo's aunt is suddenly a news anchor? It threw in way too many new factors that the viewers had to adapt to in no time. Sadly the budget was also a hindrance. You could tell they wanted to do more things that weren't possible because of time constraints and money. Still, I feel like they did well with what they had.
Acting-wise, this installment was better, even if only a bit. Yoo Jun once again carried the show, but Hyuk was honestly a better actor than Hyunjun. Acting matters because acting was the primary reason for my negative opinions of Color Rush 1. Yoo Jun might honestly be an acting prodigy because I feel like he was noticeably better than everyone else. An exception could maybe be the voiceovers that were sometimes stiff. Also, kudos to Baek Seo Hoo, he has improved a lot! His role in "Idol: The Coup" did him justice.
Once again, the OST was nice. But oh my god. The sound mixing... I have never experienced worse audio mixing in a drama before. Who allowed this? Who allowed the music to overshadow the dialogue? Who allowed the action scenes and all the punches to go without sound effects? I don't even know if the budget is to blame, because just turning down the music a little bit would've made it better. The action scenes were sadly just laughable. I can't tell if it was the filming or the fact that all the punches and kicks were silent, but it was so underwhelming to watch. This is just a bummer because I can tell that Hyuk worked hard to make the fights look good.
Overall, yes, I liked watching it. Was it messy? Very. But I think that if Color Rush 3 were to ever happen, I'd continue. I think I have to find a way to read the book. I believe it might make more sense.

Good
I personally did not like season 1, and found it really slow and boring, but I still decided to give season 2 a shot, because I liked the concept. Overall, I think that its a huge improvement in the story and I would recommend people give it a try! Go in with expectation of it being as meh as season 1 and I think you will truly be surprised by how the story improved, but do not go in expecting too much and make comparisons with other BL films, because I personally do not feel that comparing BLs is like comparing apples with oranges, they're both fruits, but they're different fruits. Likewise, just because 2 shows are BL, it doesn't mean we should compare them! BTW, Hyuk is an amazing actor and the 2 ML did a very good job! Hoping for a season 3!Esta resenha foi útil para você?
The story of season 2 is as not good as season 1 BUT there is an improvement overall
I don't know why this has a lower rating than Season 1? I'm reading some reviews and comments about being disappointed in Season 2? Whyyy? Because of re-casting???Actually, I don't know who the actors are, so I know for sure that I am not biased. Yoo-han's (Hur Hyun Jun) character in Season 1 is perfectly written but he isn't giving me the emotions. Don't hate me, fans! That's my opinion while watching the entire Season 1. As also mentioned on my review in Season 1, Yeon-woo's (Yoo Jun) acting is too much for his character. But in Season 2, his acting was improved. Se-hyun's (Hyuk) acting was also good for me. I checked his details here in MDL and he played a bunch of dramas before.
Still, I'm expecting there will be Season 3 for this series because the story is unique, and I hope to see Yoo-han again (waiting for his improvement in acting because his mesmerizing looks are there).

Not really worth it
I was pretty excited that color rush was getting a season 2 and while they could have made it a success without the actor playing Go Yoohan they didn't. The story was everywhere and they basically tried to cram a full drama into 8 10 min episodes. I understand that miniseries have more restrictions but this story was everywhere. I also agreed with the other comment that they really didn't touch on Yeonwoo losing another person well. Even if he can hide it give us some sign that this upset him.The first season was able to touch on so many things because of how it gave information. In this a character died and I'm still not entirely sure how (though I'm pretty sure what I'm assuming is correct) and they never even mentioned what happened to Yoohan (like if they found him etc).
And this maybe be stupid but if you read the book they gave a bunch of scenes that were originally between Yeonwoo and his aunt to Sehyun and his sister and that upset me cause Yeonwoo's aunt is my favorite character because of those interactions.

Stopped having an interest watching the s2 upon knowing there's a major huge changes
I was in good state watching the S1 but when I was one ep1 on s2 cant stop thinking why s2 messed up like that, maybe because s1 hooked me maybe? (Well I can conclude that way). I forced my self to watch it but I really cannot help to keep on thinking abt s1. Rating this cuz it doesn't suit on my taste so you can watch the s1 and s2 if you like to but then again as what ive read online, the series do have a lot of loopholes which deserves a s3 but hoping the first male lead will be back when that time comes. There so much things need to be tackledEsta resenha foi útil para você?
Need better writers
I'm so surprised that people rated this season so highly. The acting was great in my opinion. However, there was too much story and not enough air time to include it all. I doubt there will be a season 3, as the actors are moving on. It made me happy to see the different actors as they came on screen but as far as the story goes, it was a waste of my time. And that's sad, because I rarely find fault in a drama and can overlook a multitude of sins. This was too much though. So I'm conflicted with my love for the actors and their acting, and my dislike for the story I just watched.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
