A broader exploration and deeper perspective to Sweet Home's universe

Season 1 is surely the best, but Season 2 is also amazing. Compared to Season 1 where the characters are stuck and staying inside their apartment, Season 2 explores more and shows the condition of the outside world. Season 2 has a more serious tone since it includes the military and government. It has political and power struggle that shows the perspectives of various characters - from what's happening with the higher ups who controls the situation and between the civilians who have to survive together. While for the monsters, there's now more variety of them from dangerous to harmless, and even those who are normal yet have special traits. But at the end, they're still humans who have their own feelings and stories behind their transformations.

The new characters are necessary to the plot and it completes the worldbuilding for this Season. My favorite characters are the soldiers and they deserves more credit for their important roles. The best part is when a group of soldiers made a coup against the evil government officials who were mass murdering the people for their own greed. Soldiers are like puppets who only follows orders from their superiors, but I'm so glad how they have their own mind and put their humanity first. It was so refreshing to see a better representation of the soldiers in this drama. I love how they organized a big shelter for the survivors, protecting them and risking their lives outside while also researching about the monsters. I also love how this Season didn't really have villains, there were bad guys at first but they easily got rid of them and even the monsters themselves showed compassion to the humans. For most part in this drama, the focus is on the teamwork and growth between the military and civilians who are working together against the monsters, while the old characters are navigating their new journeys with new people and adapting to the outside world with the monsters.

Season 2 did a great job with its worldbuilding, showing the perspectives of everyone and their different motivations while trying to survive from the monsters, humans and their own selves. It also gave us a grand finale with the return of an old character on his new form. Season 3 is even more highly anticipated and it might show us the epic battle between all kinds of monsters.

Not worth the wait

3 long years after the insanely good and very high rated first season, I have to say I’m very disappointed with season 2. It fell way below what I was expecting, and honestly felt like a completely different show to me.

First off, I was very sad that the original cast made it so far for half of them to be killed off by the second episode. They introduced way too many new and not important characters with no character arch or background on any of them. The cast from season 1 is what gave the show such great charm, and these new characters had nothing to them at all. Not to mention, none of the good characters from season 1 remained except for obviously Hyunsu and Eunyu. Everyone else that was there I could care less about. Give me back Jisu!!!

Next, the storyline was just so all over the place?? There were 5 different storylines going on, all of which added barely any substance to the plot. We definitely could have done without Yikyung and her weird monster baby, that pretty much added no value other than, that monsters are evolving, which we knew would happen at some point. Didn’t need to be some weird sub storyline. Keeping with this thought, I could give a shit less about the people at that damn stadium. It became pointless to me after Eunyu left it to find Eunhyuk, but instead we spend most of our time here instead of the more important plot points. Who was Chief Ji? Why was she so suspicious? Was she harboring a monster? Was she a monster? Guess we’ll never know that because they didn’t explain anything. What was with the old man and Hanni?? What was their added value?? Why did they want us to care about these soldiers so damn much? They were a tad bit more important to the story though as they did come across more neo-humans, but why do I have to care about them? We were gonna end up at the research facility at some point with or without them.

And lastly, my BIGGEST issue with the show: where the hell was Hyunsu for half the show?? Main character but they gave him no main character energy. He was sidelined to make way for these less important characters. Last we saw him, he was petrified/turned to stone by Uimyeong at the research facility as it was crumbling, then what happened?? How did he get out? How did he become unfrozen? How did he find Yikyung and her weird monster baby?? And then he’s just gone? for three episodes? and magically shows back up for the last 2?? For a story about Cha Hyunsu and him being the only one that can stop monsterization (maybe) he sure was given dust. What happened to Uimyeong after he petrified Hyunsu? He was j chillin until Dr. Lim showed back up? I mean none of this story made any sense and lacked what made season 1 so popular.

All I can say is, I was very disappointed with the long and highly anticipated wait for season 2. With the return of Eunhyuk at the end, I have slightly higher hopes for season 3. I hope season 3 can redeem any lost hype that season 2 didn’t have and bring back the feeling of what made Sweet Home so incredible.

So great and entertaining! Knew since last year that Ui Myeong was actually Sang Won

Sweet Home season 2 is an electrifying rollercoaster that doesn't just meet expectations but exceeds them in every aspect. This gripping series not only continues its heart-pounding narrative but elevates it to new heights. The character development is profound, diving deeper into their complexities while maintaining the perfect balance of action and emotion.

The storytelling remains top-notch, seamlessly weaving together multiple storylines that keep you on the edge of your seat. The visual effects are nothing short of spectacular, bringing the monstrous creatures to life in a way that's both terrifying and awe-inspiring.

What truly sets this season apart is its ability to explore profound themes amid the chaos, delving into the human condition, relationships, and the resilience of the human spirit. The performances are stellar, each actor bringing an undeniable authenticity to their roles, making you empathize with their struggles and triumphs.

Disappointing!!!!!

Started this season with really high expectations but it turned out to be a let down.
The thing that bugs me most is how little screen time the ML had in all of 8 episodes. After that huge growth in the last episode of S1, they just removed the ML as if it was a spin off with side characters, still didn't do any character development of those new characters.
Many scenario just happened repeatedly to increase time slot.
And trust me when I say the creatures looked more like TRANSFORMERS to me🤣

Sweet Awaited Home: Depth That Makes The Heart Ache

Are we monster-like humans or are the monsters human-like? In this series, this gap becomes narrow, as fighting for survival brings out the worst and most deadly primal parts of us.

Finally, Lee Eung Bok and his team of staff, outstanding actors, and editors have provided us with the long-awaited second season of "Sweet Home". Needless to say, I was one of those waiting for a continuation. I´m glad the day has eventually come. The sadness and tragedy of the first season have found their revival in the second season. This time, however, the location isn´t as limited anymore as before, which results in even a less predictable outcome. If you wanted a lowkey introduction to the second season, Netflix has a surprise for you: An immediate invitation to watch full of excitement, as they lead you into a world of horror and chaos. No time to spare brutalities when humanity is facing its last trial.

The only mentionable "minutiae" would be that the plot gets a little confusing because there are many characters introduced and it´s not easy to decipher their importance. The more information one has to consider, and the more demanding this series is to remember a lot of details, the more it could lead to a wave of confusion. However, I do see that the screenwriters were trying to deliver and portray various sides of this hell of a dystopian world and needed various characters to do so.

"Surprisingly hopeful and at times heartwarming tone for a show full of monsters and death" (Kate´s words in her review of the first Season - recommended read if you haven´t done so yet); watch for yourself if these words are still the case in Season 2, as the circumstances have taken on a dramatic extent. What I love about this series is that the monsters also get a personality and "humanlike" attributes. There is no good or bad, we humans are always on a spectrum of both trades, which is prone to quick and at times unexpected shifts. The implementation of this makes "Sweet Home" more than just any other series with monsters.

The acting is disturbingly good, and I am speaking of almost all longtime on-screen performances. Song Kang´s portrayal of Cha Hyun So is still an eye candy. The same goes for the entire main lead, including Lee Jin Wook as the unpredictable Pyeon Sang Wook and Lee Si Young as the unyielding firefighterSeo Yi Kyung who tries to not become as inhuman as all the others. Honestly, I could spend hours and hours naming all these actors, as each one of them gave me goosebumps at one point or another.

Not sweet

Skipped a lot of scenes; Song Kang is the main character but his screentime was as little as an infant's thumb. The plot is all over the place and unnecessary. They could just make Lee Do Hyun come back early off in S2 and focus on both that and the military (+cause/origin/cure of disease/virus) part rather than letting the viewers focusing on watching a kid with mommy issue majority of the time. S1 is a lil bad already, considering how they change the webtoon's plot so much but this is hell lot worse.

to much going on

i just finished the series that ive been waiting for nearly 3 years for and it felt unsatisfactory,
Theres was way too many new characters introduced this season and there wasnt really any closure for the MANY subplots they had going on this season, there was way too much chaos in new storylines to even follow up on the original plot and characters. I felt as if the original cast was being overshadowed and almost hidden with all the new characters that were introduced, they had very brief intros and it didn't quite make sense how it all played out overall. The cgi felt like the creators or animators i should say picked and chose what monsters they wanted to look real versus some looking like a bad video game especially in the first 2 episodes. I really love LOVE hyun soo, eun yoo and cha young the solider i really loved their screen time and chemistry throughout the episodes, it sort of felt like a love triangle which gave it the episodes a more interesting factor. I do have to say i feel like Hyun Soo was completely sidelined and almost hidden most of the episodes and i was really confused as to what he was doing and where he was i feel like he should've been the main focus after he turned into stone at the laboratory but they just completely skipped and he then appeared with yi kyoungs daughter which was very disappointing. This whole story line with yi kyung and her having a monster baby was really unnecessary to me and it made me loose track of the plot even more. The fact she dies with horrible illusions as a monster in the end made me feel so sad and it really made it worse when her daughter didn't even stay with her and just left after turning her into a monster, there was no emotional attachment and it had me confused. Moving on i feel like the stories and plots were left on too many cliffhangers especially the story and history of chief ji, her existence and suspicion was really driving me with curiosity the whole season and she never got disclosed or explained, I also feel like the relationship of the sick girl and the solider had a good focus when it really wasn't needed, This season has too big of an introduction for all the characters then it didn't lead anywhere! i really loved the 1st season and cast so i had to watch this season but it seemed like these three years weren't taken into account into making this season it seems rushed and too chaotic, then to leave on another cliffhanger to wait 6 months for the third season without having any closure is absurd, I watched the whole season 2 in just one day now i will forget everything by the time it comes out ill have to rewatch it!
if eun soo met her brother early on in the show and they had developed a clean story line showcasing hyun soo as the main focus in the lab escaping and finding more infectees like him trying to find equality and safety then expanding the love story with eun soo then introducing solider cha leading to chemistry and action it then would've been so much more enjoyable then having to understand this craziness with yi kyoungs monster baby who had no point in the show at all as well as the focus with the scientist being obsessed with finding all these new monsters! Anyways i've never written a review before so this has been a real rant! Let me know what you thought of the season 2 and well see if this comes to make a little sense in the third season! Hopefully i didn't repeat my self too many times lol and hopefully this doesn't offend anyone who read the webtoon because i did not read it so i don't know if my words are contrast to what the webtoon portrays!

Not as compelling for me as the original Sweet Home

I really loved the original Sweet Home even though I normally cannot bear gore and horror. It turned out to be more about humanity, at both its best and worst. I found myself really moved by the relationships forged in that microcosm of the apartment building. Sweet Home 2, however, was too diffuse for me. Too many characters in general to do justice to in merely 8 episodes, too many uninteresting or off-putting characters and storylines, and just not enough of the human relationships that made the first Sweet Home so special for me. Perhaps more episodes might have done justice to the more compelling elements - for example, what happened to Hyun-Su, Eun-Yu, Yi-Kyung, Eui-Myeong, some of the key soldiers, and even that twisted Dr. Lim. It was a missed opportunity.

The second installment of the scientific horror is not only dull and mundane but a cold watch.

Song Kang starrer Sweet Home is back with fresh new episodes. Stemming from where it ended three years ago, the story is still delving through monsters and political threats. But the latest version fails to catch with the viciousness and suspicion that the first one played to keep the audience hooked.
The series which starts where it ended in the previous season. The monster series has returned with special infectees and a headquarter who is running test to develop a vaccine. Hyun Su who has been abducted by monstrous Sang wook is not ready to give up on his humanity yet. But with numerous people standing on brink of life-will humanity survive the wrath time?

No, no, no, no, no....

Ever since the trailer dropped audience has been waiting with bated breath to catch on where they left. But the fresh season seemed to have lost track of time. Untimely death Ji Soo followed by Eun yoo searching for Eun Hyuk frantically, the story goes disarray every second. As the uninfected people are made to shift to a complete new location and made to undergo test, conflict about saving them or discarding them comes in fore. At the end, only matters is who is going is make it alive. People are losing sanity and its just not monsters but living who are attacking others. Let's see who gets to survive till the end-

The latest installment is a huge disaster. From losing narrative to over dragged performance, it could not offer a single element to make the audience stay.

1. Plotline: The story felt dragged since the second episode. The old characters are moving through the old curve. The director did injustice to them by giving nothing new to do. The new characters re not warm and entrusting like the previous set. You often fail to understand= what they are really planning to do. The story goes like a brake failed vehicle on loose. It lacks the necessary grip which helps in keeping the story aligned.

2. Characters: Characters of s story play a decisive part in holding interest of audience. Adding fresh set made nothing new in the story as proper narratives are not given. Lack of proper grid and poor availability of background story makes the characters lost in the concrete jungle full of monsters.

3. Monsters: They are the hero and also villain of the story. IT was necessary to build them with utmost acre. But they are less vicious and more dirty in this installment.

After watching All of us are Dead, Sweet Home and Duty After School, its okay if you want to skip this story.

Sometimes Humans are more dangerous than the Monsters

No Spoilers:

They certainly pushed the story, action and thrill up a notch as compared to S1 followed by a lot of heartbreaks and pain.
No one knows who will make it till the end and chances are your beloved characters might just die or have a fate worse than that.
S2 proved that Humans and its greed can be far more dangerous, inhumane and ruthless than those monsters.
The acting was phenomenal, as they did manage to show all the emotions and decisions that a human can make in those drastic situations. I would say i ended up hating the humans in the show even more as compared to the blood thirsty monsters.
Both the budget and production value has increased and it shows in the series too. Eagerly waiting for S3 and the final showdown.

Do monsters have more compassion than humans do?

I have mixed emotions about this season and I'm not sure how to feel about it. I was completely immersed in the first two episodes because they were amazing and emotionally wrecked me. I think the reason for this was the emotional attachment I felt towards the characters from the first season, which was very strong even though I watched it three years ago. The characters and their stories made the first season fabulous, and that's what I missed in this season. I was disappointed by the lack of emotional connection.

I loved how the monster's perspective was presented in the show, which ironically made them more relatable than the humans. It kept me guessing about who was on the right side and who deserved to live and thrive. Instead of answering questions, this season left me with more confusion and questions. I disliked almost every new character introduced and they annoyed me. The story's pace was off in the middle of the drama, and almost nothing notable happened in between. Then, too many things were thrown into the mix all at once. This season had less blood than the first season. I remember my dad dropping the show after the first episode because of the amount of blood lol.

I missed some characters terribly, and that was a downside of the season.

The acting, music, and CGI were great, as expected from Netflix.

Though it didn't live up to first season, but it was enjoyable... if I just see it as an individual drama than the drama having a great first season. Some twists were really great and left me wanting to know more. Deifnitely waiting for next season as now I have wayyy many questions that needs be answered right now.

Disappointed

this was one of the most boring season I’ve ever watched, I’m so disappointed.
s1 had such a unique vibe, the characters all brought something to the show they were all very interesting. whereas in s2 they added pointless characters that we could’ve cared less.
half of the og charcters either died or got forgotten. the main character was gone for like half of the season, same with sangwook (the gangster), but at least he is still alive sort of ig and yikyeong who came back with a grown kid.
some charcters looked also so much alike, like the priest and sang wook. it showed how desperate the writers were to get us attached to the new ones.
the monsters in s1 used to be individual, and in s2 they all look alike?? the monsters attacked in groups and were literal clones. you transform yourself from desires/fears so why are they the exact same?? this took the point of the show away.
the storyline was as boring as the characters. eunyu walking around for 3 episodes trying to find her brother was pointless. they could’ve made it so much interesting.
same with chief ji, we never knew what she was hiding and why she was acting like that.
thankfully the ending looked more promising for a better season.
