Fanfic Junk!

Oh dear! How could a full production team, crew and cast members be this damn oblivious to what they're making! The drama was the apotheosis of human failure, an insidious plague upon the landscape of television, a wretched abomination birthed from the depths of creative bankruptcy and soulless commercialism, a festering wound that infects the very essence of storytelling with its repulsive presence. Its premise was a nauseating blend of techno-narcissism and romantic idiocy, an affront to the intelligence of any sentient being unfortunate enough to bear witness to its abomination, a grotesque mutation of what once passed for entertainment. Characters were grotesque caricatures of humanity, mere vessels for the perpetuation of vapid romantic fantasies and insipid melodrama and their interactions were a cacophony of soulless platitudes and contrived emotional manipulation, each scene got progressively worse than the last. The writing was an insult to the very concept of coherent narrative structure, a labyrinth of a garbled mess and mind numbingly banal dialogue that defies comprehension. In fact, this drama wasn't just bad television, it was an abomination of the highest order, a blight upon the collective consciousness of humanity and the very fabric of reality itself that must be expunged from existence with extreme prejudice. Anyone who dares to defend this abhorrent monstrosity deserves nothing less than eternal damnation, condemned to spend eternity in the deepest, darkest depths of cinematic purgatory, tormented by the ceaseless repetition of its insipid drivel until the end of time itself. Anyway, it could've been worse, I guess.

Worst Kdrama to date

The story line had so much potential but it was ruined by selfish characters. JoJo was by far the worst.
She continues to let SO suffer as if she was doing him some favor by not telling him why they couldn’t be together.
I realize they Heoyoung liked her first and Sonhu snatching his girl was wrong but for me it was easy to say that true love hit JJ & SO.
I mean no one ever got SO love alarm but JJ.
And had JJ cleared the issues with SO then HY would have never got JJ love alarm.
JoJo sucks!

BEST ENDING EVER, DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE BAD REVIEWS

I highly recommend you guys to WATCH TILL THE END!!!! The story is well written especially jojo's feeling and hyeyeong's sincerity. I don't know WHY peoples said they dissapointed for season two?? Maybe just because their couple didn't end up together haha. Jojo's back story and how she can accept herself. Sunoh gets someone who sincerely loves him and hyeyeong also deserves the love he deserves. I really appreciate it because it fits the story of the original webtoon and even this drama is more satisfying than I thought.

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE DRAMA - EXPLAINED! PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ ;)

Hi guys!
I see that many are disappointed that Kim Jojo did not end up with Sun Oh. I wanted her to see Hye young's real love for her and I also wanted her to think about what she felt. Who makes her heart flutter?

SO THIS IS THE EXPLAINING OF THE DRAMA:
1. In the first season, in the first episode Jojo and Sun Oh kissed. Why did they kiss when she already had a boyfriend?
--> Well she did not like her boyfriend she had then. Even when she had a boyfriend he didn't make it up to her. I think she still felt lonely and maybe sometimes invisible.
--> Sun Oh is a playboy. He had his eyes on Juju and kissed her, but before that Sun Oh complimented her. Juju fell for him and she starts to like him. She felt seen by him and he made her happy.
2. She breaks up with Sun Oh.
--> The real reason is accidant with her mom and dad. She survived and left her parents to die. We can also see it from another perspective. The other perspective is that even when her parents wanted to end their life and their daughter's life, she thankfully survived.
--> There are some other reasons as well, but those are mentioned in the second season of "Love Alarm". She did it because of Sun Oh's happiness, because of sincerely for Hye Young and because of her life (Her aunt and cousin complaining).
3. In the second season she ends up with Lee Hye Young.
--> She likes him and knows that without the love alarm ringing.

THE MESSAGE OF THE DRAMA:
* The drama shows us what technologic really can do. It can causes problems. I the "Love Alarm" world people do not even say "I love you". The word love and your feelings have been something connected to an app.
--> She was together with Sun Oh because they kissed. --> Her heart fluttered. BUT THAT DO NOT MEAN SHE LOVED HIM! Guys, think by yourselves. How many timed do your heart flutter when you see a handsome guy or pretty girl. Even people who are together looking are looking at people and maybe make their heart flutter? -->The love alarm rang on both's phone. --> they become a couple.
BUT in the second season, she likes (WITHOUT THE LOVE ALARM APP) Lee Hye Kyung. And he likes her. This is how it was before the love alarm app, how it is today in the world and how it should be. That is what Cheon Duk Goo (The developer of the app) is saying at the end of season two.

The last episode explained the truth of the drama. Please watch it and reason to what they say:

THIS IS ALL I HAVE IN MY MIND RIGHT NOW. I AM THANKFUL YOU TOOK YOUR TIME TO READ. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION LETS HAVE A CONVERSATION IN THE COMMENTS :)

P.S. I UNDERSTAND ALL OF SUN OH'S FANS, BUT HE GOT HIS LESSON OF HOW THE WORLD IS AND WHAT LOVE MEANS.

Rejected all cliches, wonderful ending. Season 2 was way way way better than Season 1

A lot of people seem to be complaining that she didn't end up with Sun Oh. Honestly I loved that she ended up with Hye Yeong. Realistically, she would've rejected Sun Oh. It'd been FOUR years since they'd dated. OF COURSE she was gonna reject him. Even after 4 years, Sun Oh was really creepy and forceful with her. The borderline stalking, chasing her with this car, causing a scene, demanding that she admit she likes him, and kissing her without consent. And yes, Hye Yeong was pretty creepy with all the following her in season 1, but you can really tell he's grown as a person and become more mature and wouldn't do that anymore. Sun Oh, on the other hand, was selfish the whole time. Back in season 1, he kissed her even though she said no. He pursued a girl he KNEW his best friend liked, just because he found her kinda attractive (they admitted it was just pure lust at first). And tbh, their relationship was overall pretty meh. They had some good moments, like when Sun Oh showed up when she was having a panic attack, but other than that, it just felt like infatuation. Teenage love. 4 years pass by, and somehow he still is crazy in love with her?? He strings his girlfriend along, much to her heartbreak. He stalks and chases her. He demands that she admit she still loves him, which was very creepy and not okay. He kisses her without consent. He's the creepy ex-boyfriend character; the only reason anyone still roots for him is because he's cute, so it's easy to look over his creepiness. On the other hand, Hye Yeong understood her. When Sun-Oh and him fought, he wasn't mad at Sun-Oh because he was jealous. He was mad because by going to the classroom, Sun-Oh caused Jojo a lot of anxiety, Hye-Yeong knew this even before he'd met with Jojo. He understood her that well. He wasn't even mad at her, just worried. That's the difference between Hye-Yeong and Sun-Oh. Hye Yeong loved, understood, and accepted her, even when she didn't love him back. Sun-Oh loved her too, but in the selfish way. Sun Oh simply wanted her. He was willing to cause a scene and make her uncomfortable, anything if it means he could have her. Even if it broke his current girlfriend's heart. That may just be a form of love, but it's not the type of love that one should desire. The fact that Jojo didn't end up with the rich, handsome, daddy issues boy makes me really happy I watched this show. It really rejected all the cliche's and gave the underdog the crown, as he deserved. Season 2 was much, much, much better than season 1. I'm really happy with the direction the writers chose to go.

They dealt with Jojo's character better in this season as well. Last season, her motivations felt somewhat contrived to suit the plot. Her motivations for breaking up with Sun-Oh felt pretty weak. How she got together with Sun-Oh seemed pretty weak as well. This season though, Jojo felt a lot more like a character and less like a plot device. Her motivations were more realistic, and she was likable. Her reasons for using the spear in season 2 were a lot more realistic than her reasons for using the shield in season 1. They also dealt with her trauma decently, which was nice. Jojo just felt a lot more real, likable, and less stupid this season. I remember screaming at the screen when she followed Sun-Oh into the alleyway in season 1. I was completely baffled by why she trusted him despite the fact that he was being incredibly creepy. I was uncomfortable the whole time. This season, she was way more likable. She made better choices, and when she did make a bad choice, it made sense. The only problem I had with the ending was that Sun-Oh ended up with the girlfriend he was ditching for Jojo. Even if he was showing up every day, their relationship just left me with discomfort and pity for her, so I felt like it was unnecessary. Sun-Oh's ending should've revealed his start on his path to growth and maturity. That would've been a nice ending for Sun-Oh. I also really liked the Gul-Mi's growth. She became a better person, but not in a super-fast, unrealistic way. She just slowly started making better decisions. Like Jojo, Gul-Mi's motivations made sense.

Overall, much much better than season 1. If I ever rewatch, I'm only rewatching season 2. All the Hye Yeong-Jojo scenes were really sweet, heartwarming, and intimate. I really wish more shows like this would come out. I really wish the non-selfish asshole second lead would win more often. But unfortunately, with ratings like this from Sunjo shippers, I doubt it. As far as I'm concerned, this was a pretty awesome season from a character standpoint.

A trainwreck of a show

Where to begin?
This is the kind of show where every single person watching has its one perspective and insight of what it means and what the characters feel (mostly because the writers failed at their one job and we’re the ones left to pick up the pieces), so bear with my personal opinion.

First of all, I feel like this season is a whole nother drama. Almost as if they didn’t know in season 1 how the series would evolve. There’s no conductive line, it’s like the first season had its own place in time and then you start the second season with a whole new genre and essence. I think the fact that it was divided into 2 seasons didn’t help at all. For 2 years we were sold this love triangle plot that seemed like the main thing and then in the end of season 2 we find out the real purpose of the show (in my opinion) was to show what happens when someone who has a lot of trauma in her life tries to find comfort in romantic relationships to help her cope with her struggles. The result: heartbreak up and down, to that person and everyone around them. I actually think that’s an interesting approach actually and I think if they had done it on purpose, the drama would be a lot better and people would understand it more.

some highlights (good and bad) on the season itself:

-stunning cinematography in every single scene!

-the symbolism of the seasons (of the year and of the show), season 1 being the comfort of autumn and the second one being the spring, in which the cherry blossoms connected with the blooming of a more mature love and the cleaning up for a new start, the healing of the past and moving on to the future

-the production was on another level on this one and it showed the power of netflix, every single scene was shot incredibly with so much detail into it

-they way they disregarded Duk-gu and his suicide experience, making me him come back just to serve the plot and as mean to help the lead screw eveything up once again infuriates me. He was always negglected by his peers and by the writters aparently. i would really love to see more about his side of the story and understand him a little more. I also think he could have been more explored in this season regarding his come back and the relation with his brother. But i guess they really had to make the whole season about the never ending toxic and unhealthy choices of the FL.

-the main villain (Gul-mi) of season 1 became the comic relief of the second, it was a good call, she was much more likeable but i still think they ended up not going far with her character development

-I really liked the depth they gave to Hye‑yeong, it explained a lot of his actions and personality, and we didn’t just have to accept him as the typical best boy just because. The best written character of the drama in my opinion, the only one you actually came to know, what he liked, his hobbies and interests, and the way he saw the world, very real and tridimensional, unlike the other characters that to me just served the plot most of the time

- the dystopian shit they pulled with the app and how it affected the social interactions of an entire generation, where people don’t even rely on their feelings and trust in the app more than their own hearts, this was a plus, sometimes more interesting than the main plot, could have been more explored tbh, they could really went further with it.

-the scene where Yuk-jo says “we can't go on like this anymore can we” looking at Sun-oh with her eyes in tears and a smile… it really broke me inside, I think she did an incredible performance, since I saw her on season 1, I really liked her and the fact that she wasn’t your typical SL was so refreshing, one of my fav characters this season, really glad that she ended up with Sun-oh, I think he really liked her but was just too caught up in his first love where he never got any closure. However, I must say I find it really wrong the fact that this drama always tries to push the "i'm gonna fake that i love you until hopefully one day i wake up and i really do" idea. that's ridiculous, love doesn't work like that. It's really unhealthy even for a kdrama, and they did it in every conversation,/interaction/relationship. Sending some really messed up messages to everyone watching. Dangerous and irresponsible, plain out wrong in my opinion. For a drama that wanted to pierce our morals and make us question our own actions, it really missed the whole point.

-the scene when Jojo met with Sun Oh for the last time and the flashback of them running down the same road… i was devastated, not because I was rooting for them (at that point I was really at peace with where it was going) but to me they did it in a very beautiful way. I'm a crybaby but I didn't shed a tear the entire drama until that scene. I don't know if it was because of the nostalgic feeling or the fact that I'm just sensitive to goodbye scenes. The idea of saying goodbye to your first love really moved me and the fact they hurt each other so much but are now finally able to move one... I just couldn't handle it, it broke my heart when they looked at their younger selves. They were genuinely in love at the time, and it felt so painful to see how sometimes life happens and reality strikes and your life can change in a very drastic and painful way, leaving scars that could last a lifetime. It was heartwarming at the same time, to see those memories of the past of when they made each other smile and helped each other cope with the horrible world around them. a lot of feels indeed, one of the most heart shattering scenes of the drama but also one of the most pure, beautiful and intense one.

-JOJO…. i mean they ruined her character by making “being the victim” her only personality trait.
They took it way to far, and actually made her feel less real and nuanced, they lost her essence behind that label, i think it really made it hard for anyone to relate to her, feel sorry or understand her. To me I really think they gave her an exaggerated amount of obstacles, even the one healthy individual thing she had, her drawings, was used to give her more trauma and guilt. jesus christ, the girl couldn’t even draw without causing someone to die?! of course she’s not okay and only screws up, so much trauma and never once a visit to a therapist or a sign she was dealing with all the trauma the writers put her through.

-the breakup… i’m not even judging her reasons, but the way they wrote it was awful. Even in the end I would be okay with everything if it wasn’t for that main event that kinda started the entire plot of this season. You just can’t ignore it, because they made the plot all about it. It’s ridiculous the way they NEVER actually explained the why behind it, not to Sun-oh, not to us, they just moved along, always referring to it as the cause of the entire plot of the season, without actually explaining it. It’s not only disrespectful to the character that spent 4 years of his life heartbroken and traumatized, but to us that were invested in this show for 2 years. I really can’t understand how could a drama with such a high production level could make such a blunt stupid choice. It’s obvious that doing that would make everyone feel like something was missing and that the ending and everything that led to it were just wrong and empty. This particular choice really sabotaged the entire drama for me.

-the running scene, that for me was one of the best of the entire season, I really liked the symbolism of it. Maybe this is because healing dramas are my cup of tea but I really think this is what I wanted from her character all along, no boy drama, but to see her face the past and deal with it and be able to see her move on, I think it’s a plot much more adjusted to the tone of the drama, being that they always tried to portray it as something mature with symbolisms and traumas and very introspective, much more a fitting than a love triangle plot focused. However beautiful it was, it wasn’t therapy and that’s what Jojo really needs. She can’t be in a relationship until she fixes herself and that’s a process, it doesn’t happen overnight. The drama itself was all about how someone like that can hurt other people so the fact that in the end they gave her a love interest without any real growth blows my mind.

In conclusion, it was a mess. They had a lot of potential and good content, but they just did awful decisions and didn’t deliver any real and consistent idea. It’s a shame how they managed to turn a good drama into a common joke that will always be remembered as a trainwreck beginning to end. I feel sorry for the actors because they did their best and I’m genuinely curious about who approved this script and thought it would work. I hope they fire that person or else I would politely ask Netflix to stay away from the kdrama world. please.

Wasted opportunity...

I get why everyone is so upset with the show and how it all turned out but I still think that there are things that should be appreciated and people seem to miss that fact... (So I really felt the urge to write a review for the first time)

I watched this show in a marathon yesterday and I didn't get bored. That for me means that the story is catchy and that itself is a great thing in kdrama. I personally loved the atmosphere, cherry blossoms, red and yellow ... the scenery, and the work with a camera made the drama look like a high-quality drama. It is overall darker than season 1 but I honestly didn't mind that much.
So now the highlights in the cast. Many people were disappointed that Hye Yong didn't get enough screen time, well he got more than what I expected in the second season! So if you are team Hye Yong you should watch it. I honestly fell in love with Jung Ga Rams acting and I will be waiting to see him again in another drama. The next character that grew on me is Gul Mi. I think she made big progress from being a school bitch to a more responsible and appreciatable person.

Another thing that caught my eye is how writers tried to put reality into the story as well, like how people who like each other don't need to stay that way forever, that people can change. Also, I'm glad that they tried to avoid some cliches (- Gul Mi and Dok Gu for example don't end up together like in a fairy tale). There were some wise words that made me think too. The story itself is good.
And the most important thing... Have you ever seen a kdrama in which the second male lead doesn't end up being the second male lead at the end? I have never seen a thing like that and the writers have my respect for that decision because that really blew my mind! I have never expected it to turn that way ... BUT

A the same time (this morning when I got over the fact that my boy won) I realized how messed up this thing is and how they could have done a much better job when they kept us waiting for 2 BLOODY YEARS!

I will keep it short because many reviews basically already said what I had to say.
First thing, I am a Hye Yong stan but for the whole time, I felt so sorry for Sun Oh. They made him look like a wreck. He got only a little screentime, much less than he deserved. Also how he ended up was literary sad, he seemed forced into a relationship that didn't work for already a really long time, and in my opinion, he didn't look happy at all!
The story is a mess. Not only they didn't explain what happened at the end of season 1 it looks like a whole different show. And also what the hell was the thing with Hye Yong's dad I still don't get it and it is not the only one. Jojo looks pathetic and I just can't sympathize with her at all. I really pity her friend at the school. And the last thing WTF was the whole Brian Choi thing and what actually happened to Dok Gu?! These are the main things that really angered me and there is more.

I wrote this review because although this drama is not the best it has its highlights and I honestly quite enjoyed watching it!
I just feel that with what they had they could have done a real masterpiece... This all is just my opinion!!!

(I'm not English speaku master so if you find some mistakes I'm sorry)

Never felt pain like this

I have never felt more frustrated and annoyed with a Kdrama before, I literally have an assignment due in 2 days, which I have barely started FYI, but I chose to watch Love Alarm instead, BIG F****** MISTAKE. I waited 2 years for season 2, only to find out that Jojo doesn't even end up with Sun-oh, are you kidding me????? The two people who were literally made for each other and had the most chemistry didn't end up together? And you wanna know how I found out??? I googled it. because when I got halfway through episode 4 something felt off to me so I gave in and googled, only to find out that the ending is complete BS. I really wanna sue Netflix for this emotional trauma. I may sound like I'm exaggerating, but oh my god if you saw the look on Sun-ohs face, I felt so bad for that poor puppy, he suffered the entire two seasons, his friend literally stole the love of his life and his dad is the worlds biggest prick. And to be honest, Fricking Hye-Yeong was a shit friend, as soon as he saw Jojo again he jumped at the opportunity to go after her, despite what had happened between her and Sun-oh. Hye-Yeong's character felt forced and honestly he was so boring, and what was the need to bring his dad into the picture, it just felt like they were trying to make the storyline interesting which did not work at all. I haven't even finished the drama, I can't bring myself to finishing it because I know that all I will feel is anger and disappointment. I didn't like Sun-ohs girlfriend either, like grow a damn backbone and go after a guy that will return your feelings. And as much as I liked Jojo, she pissed me off too but let's not get into that.
This drama was toxic in a way, it was kind of teaching us that it's okay to be with someone who doesn't feel the same as you, which honestly isn't healthy at all, that type of pain isn't worth it. You should be with someone who loves you for you and doesn't inflict any emotional or physical pain on you.
Rant over I guess, probs gonna cry myself to sleep.

im 4 eps in, and i must say, season 1 was way better. honestly, it isn’t that interesting, and got quite boring. there are a lot of lacking factors in this drama.

some scenes seemed so long, but weren’t even that important. i’ve also been watching in1.5x speed btw. i feel like i would still get a gist of the story if i skipped some parts.

could’ve honestly been better if they placed it all in one season.
——————————————————————————
i feel so bad for sun oh... it seems like they quite cared for each other in the first season. here it seems like she didn't even consider his feelings much. kim jojo was quite indecisive, and it just hurt others??

i already know the ending even tho i havent watched the whole thing btw, i spoiled myself on purpose bc the story was getting to draggy.

it wasn’t worth waiting for not gonna lie except finding out who she was gonna end up with.

Why I liked this season of Love Alarm and why you should hear me out

Guys, I know most of you are mad but hear me out!
To me, this season made sense. It was not as aesthetically beautiful as season 1 was (honestly, season 1's beauty was the reason I watched this drama ) nor it was as engaging. But I genuinely liked it.
Let me tell you all this, we all fell for Song Kang and not Sun Oh (if you did fall for Sun Oh then please get some help) Sun Oh was madly in love with Jojo, to a point where he was possessive and he was obsessed with her. He got frustrated when she didn't reply to his texts and he always clung to her like some leech. The first episode of season 1 made me really not like Sun Oh (I watched the first season only a few days ago and I thought I was ready to make Sun Oh my next kdrama boyfriend because of the hype he got from people saying that he's the sweetest ) I didn't have any prior info about this show so my opinion is really unbiased. But Hye yeong was too sweet. He didn't do much and practically gave up when he found out that Jojo likes Sun Oh and I respect that about him, because Jojo already liked Sun Oh so he didn't try to change her feelings or anything (not to mention that he still remained good friends with Sun oh and told him to be there for Jojo) Here's the thing : Sun Oh wanted Jojo to be happy with him but Hye Yeong wanted Jojo to be happy. It didn't matter if the person who made Jojo happy was him, Sun Oh or someone else). In season 2, Sun Oh becomes this obsessive ex, he went wherever Jojo went and demanded for an answer. Honestly, I do agree that the reason that Jojo dumped Sun oh was extremely dumb. They were in a relationship so they should've talked about it (they must've done that) but Jojo decided to become a dumb bitch and didn't explain herself and I really wished she did. Although I do feel bad for Sun Oh but I like how they didn't stick to the "first love" bullshit. It happens so often in kdramas (and all dramas honestly) when in reality, it hardly comes true. I was also a bit upset about the ending, not because Sun Oh and Jojo don't end up together but because Song Kang and So Hyun have great chemistry when the other actor and So Hyun don't have that much. They look cute but chemistry? Nope.
Trust me, if I were Jojo, I would've picked Hye Yeong any day because I've been in a similar situation like this. The guy may love you a lot but is he any good for you? Let's be honest, who would you choose? A guy who loves you to death but he's possessive and literally so fucking obsessed with you that he doesn't even leave you alone or a guy who loves you, respects that fact that you like someone else and still waits for you without genuinely wanting his feelings to be reciprocated? If you choose the former, trust me you really really need some help because possessive behaviours and stuff like that shouldn't ever be romanticised even when the person is smokin hot and is madly in love with you. It just shouldn't.
Many of you would hate me for writing this but with time, you all will realise it.
PS: I gave this season an eight out of ten because of its acting, music, some really beautiful shots. Not because of the ending or the poor writing.

Love

Okay, JOJO is a gold digger, and why? who paid for her field trip to Jeju island? Who paid for their ice skate date? It was SUN-OH, TEAM HYE YOUNG!!!!! as all HYE YOUNG gave was nothing! TEAM SUN-OH!!! and the fact that HYE YOUNG made SUN OH suffer and made him as a love bridge so he could make JOJO fall in love with him. Like SUN OH respected you and all you gave him was NO=RESPECT! I would actually not recommend you to watch this crap. We just wasted our wifi bill just for this garbage drama. If you ever watched season one there's a scene where HYE YOUNG just moved SUN OH and said give her a time... And guess what in this garbage drama B=+-H HYE YOUNG just made her focus on him! #teamsunoh
