Very boring.

There was not much history because it was over in the first season, nothing has changed. There wasn’t much plot or things to happen, besides that every episode the Sun Oh character was crying, which made you not even cheer for the main couple, which was kind of boring (in my opinion), but they were even cute at times (no hate). Waste of time. I finished at full speed by accelerating. Very disappointing.

I think they wanted to convey the idea that love can be built with time and choice, I don't know if that can be true. I didn't even understand why she chose not to like Sun Oh anymore. But, I think that this idea may not always work.

I Never Actually Hated a Drama Until This One

I am so pained right now!!!!! I can't believe I wasted my time to get that horrible ending. This drama was badly written and the character development was so poor.

Okay, I lied all the time I said I wanted the girl to end up with the second lead. No, it didn't work.

As a firm member of Team Sun-oh, I was stupidly waiting for Jojo and Sun-oh to resolve their misunderstanding and have a happy ending. It's the only reason I watched until the very end. Otherwise, it was too painful to watch a heartbroken Sun-oh struggle to handle his emotions and get hopeful when he thought he had a chance. Oh my gaaaaash, I ended up hating Jojo for doing that to him.

This drama was just the worst things about love triangles in full brightness with absolutely no comic relief.

Was it necessarily needed

Love alarm season 1 I did not really like but decided to give season 2 a try but still left the same opinion.

With love alarm I love that it has a deeper meaning and can be very sociological, physiological... But that was all. The ratings I thought was to high on the first season.

Season 2 brings alight the some what love triangle, I did not think JoJo look at both sides, it made me annoyed since I did not read the webtoons so I still did not know who she would end up with and it would of disappointed me if she went with Sunho. So I guess it did get me in thinking, but it was 6 episode for that to happen.

I did not really think all the story lines (plots) were necessarily needed.

In conclusion

It's crap.

Completely different from what season one was. It's like watching a whole new drama.

At this point of the show where they're now adults, I thought they would be able to clear up misunderstandings and move on. Talk properly and be able to convey their feelings with more ease but boy was I wrong. It just got more confusing and messy. Sun Oh barely got any screen time despite being the male lead?? JJ literally being inconsiderate of Sun Oh's feelings too.

The storyline is frustrating, starting from ep 1 everything just went downhill.

A completely different drama

Firstly, I would like to do a very quick recap; As it's probably already known, the story is revolving around a love triangle between two best friends (Sun oh and Hye young) and their classmate, Kim Jo jo.

The first season started off well with a very interesting and different kind of concept, that showed a very quick development of its own story between the two mains (Sun oh and Jo jo), and later with Hye young trying to win over the heart of a hopelessness girl.

With the arrival of the second season though Love Alarm felt like a completely different drama where, most of the time, had an unclear and confusing aspect. Its turning point happened when the screenwriter swiftly put aside Sun oh’s leading role, along with his feelings towards Jo jo, which felt like a regrettable decision that not only ruined the concept of the story but also the viewer’s patience.

With every chance Sun oh is shown on screen, it feels like the viewer is battling with him to understand all those upsetting feelings that are coming forth and with him not receiving any proper answers to his questions, there is no development around his character which leads to the thing I mentioned earlier – putting aside his leading role – and making him look like a clingy person that “begged” to be loved back.

The ending of the story becomes clear by episode 4 as you are left there – in front of the screen – asking yourself “where did this come from”. By the time you realize that there is no turning back to the decision-making, the screenwriter decides to finish this off by showing us how unnecessary the love triangle and its story was, from the beginning.

As it is probably already known, stories that include love triangles never end up in a good way and this drama here proved that it is no exception. The most frustrating part though is how it manages to turn a diverse story into a weak one that makes the viewer regret to even spent those 6 hours of their time while hoping that it would have followed a similar pace to the 1st season without making these last-minute "changes".

Not Good Enough

The second season of the Korean Drama " Love Alarm " takes things from where the first season left off, years after the events that lead to the main couple splitting up. This season doesn't have the advantage of the school genre that always adds some innocence and freshness to the plot. It actually doesn't have a plot, as the story focuses on JoJo and her struggle to accept herself and her feelings. The whole drama about her art, her past life, and the shield was sloppily handled and the family drama was overlooked. The side characters were also boring.

One thing that this drama had going for it, at least, was the strong performances from the cast, especially from the leading lady. The twist with the romance was original too. However, the whole drama feels strange compared to the first season, like it's not its sequel. Rather, it's boring and rushed.

So, overall, 4 out of 10.

wtf jojo?

y'all this girl JoJo is the most selfish person on god. Sun Oh is another story for another day, but at least I can understand some things from his point of view. But Jojo? She makes so many choices that has left me confused and at times, violent.

I'm sure those who are watching S2 has already seen S1, so imagine this: You're finally in a relationship with the girl that you love. Things are going great, you both feel the same way. Then one day out of nowhere, she suddenly breaks up with you. No explanation whatsoever. Her feelings suddenly changes. Well that's Sun Oh's story.

All he deserved was a goddamn explanation that JoJo couldn't even provide. And even down to the very last moment, she was still selfish to the core and even used a spear to ring Hyeyoung's love alarm...wtf? Haven't you already went this route and learn that this is not the way to go? And she also didn't even have any plans to correct her ways until someone actually got in her face and told her she's being selfish. Sun Oh had to find out about the shield himself and Hyeyoung had to overhear it himself about the spear. Only until then did she take any actions.

And she only really did anything because she know she's about to lose Hyeyoung, and her last conversation with Sun Oh still left me feeling ill cause it's obvious she didn't give a single fuck about Sun Oh and only said what she said so she can go on her way and make up with Hyeyoung. After her "bye" she just yeeted. Like imagine waiting 4 years for that. And I also don't get it why she didn't just simply explain the shield situation to Hyeyoung. He would've understood her. This girl seems to have a knack for making shit 10x more complicated than it should be.

What I found amusing was her initial reaction to finding out Dukgu is dead. Instead of actually sympathizing, the first thing that pops up in her head is "I'm never going to be able to remove the shield." Like hello?!!! People are dying, Jojo!

Let's also not forget that she kissed Sun Oh when she was in a relationship and then kissed him again when she was in a different relationship. We love cheaters. So all in all, idk what Hyeyoung and Sun Oh ever saw in her.

Trash

Waited 2 years just to be disappointed!!!
I regretted waiting for the season and I also regretted recommending this dram to my friends!
Worst KDrama ending!!! Don't watch it guys, super waste of time.
Season 2 is badly written!!! Deserves to be trashed.

Kim Jojo and Hye young, doesnt have chemistry, I never liked it, watching their sweet moments feels like forced, I didn't even smile or even felt a tingling feeling of love. They look good together as friends, but a couple? nah!

Writers and director wasted everyone's time! They built up sun-ho and jojo in season one, they have a great chemistry only to ruin everything in season 2. Had I known this will be the ending, I wouldn't have watched it all together and save myself from pain and disappointment.

Love alarm is one of my top 5 kdrama so I'm really angry that season 2 is so bad, it's now the the bottom of my list!

Season 2 is such a disappointment

Unlike season 1, season 2 is extremely slow moving. Wonder whether the production company was just trying to drag out the story over more episodes. It was too slow. The acting got dragged down and became boring and trying. A BIG BIG LETDOWN after season 1. There was not much music or scenery or acting or good-looking actors and actresses could do to salvage the disastrous production and directing and editing. Netflix should make sure that those key people responsible for season 2 are not again in a (originally) good drama.

Total Disappointment Love Alarm 2

After so long waiting for this drama season 2 disappointment. What a depressing drama nothing like the 1st season. There was more crying then there was lines in this drama. Three characters that when to high school together and now did not know how to talk with each other. JoJo and Hye young care for each other but they could not talk with each other. Secrets were kept and Jojo did not communicate at all. She did a lot of crying but no talking. Sunoh had so much anger but took no time to find out what happen and acted like he would not think his parents had nothing to do with it. Other then the 6th episode that you get a little happiness and understanding of what is going on the second season fail terribly. The total 2nd season maid me mad, frustrated, annoyed, and depressed. Not what I wanted to watch. the music also made you even more depress. Bad script.

A moment of silence for what it could.ve been

I.m just coming out of a kdrama break and I stumbled yesterday upon LA2. Oh my god, I said, finally. Oh my god, I said a day later, this is terrible.
If you.re reading this and you.ve watched kdramas for a couple of years now (personally I started 9 years ago) I would like to comment on 2 things that I absolutely hate about what we.ve been offered these years>
-Kdramas have become less focused on actual good plots and that focus has been put on details like fashion, hairstyle, makeup (that are usually way overboard- I mean, I like it, but too much dude)
-Actors are like plastic- they can't act anymore and they look like babydolls. Girls are way too perfect (to the last hair strand) and guys are just as perfect and what is worse is that (at least in my opinion) they are too feminized.

What does this have to do with love alarm?
1. Not one of them is actually playing a role. Everything is resumed to staring into blank spaces looking dramatic af. Let's add some tears in the eyes while looking like we blanked out at math class and this is what this drama is made of.
2. I can't help but compare> do you remember I miss you? Where Kim So Hyun played as the young character played my Yoon Eun Hye. Do you remember HOW INTENSE EVERTHING WAS? Do you remember the first 4 episodes where she appeared most often? Are you telling me that looking sad is all that she can do? GOD! I'm so angry about this. And that was 9 years ago! What happened?
3. The guys- (I mean she is also a part of this but let's look at the guys for now)- they have no personality. They have nothing special about them. The badass what-his-name-was is basically a hot stalker by season 2 and the other one- he's only worth of pity. I don't know why the writers were so cruel to the characters, they are so superficial, there's nothing profound about them (and adding a sprinkle of family drama really does not do the trick).
4. No, really, take a minute to look at their acting- all we get is close-ups of them staring and that's all
5. Must not forget the plot: But is there even one? :)

Don't get me wrong, I love a good old casual kdrama but this is too much. I'd rather watch some Love-evil parents-amnesia-I don't love you-Oh I love you- kinda crap. But in that era, the actors tried to SHOW THOSE GODDAMN EMOTIONS. Chaotic and stupid as they were, they were more complexe.
This aesthetic shit that they are trying to give us is really not appealing. Give me real acting and aesthetics if you want. I'm not accepting less, it's 2021 already.

"What did I expect from this?" is what I'm asking to this day

To start this off, I don't have any personal grudge against the writers, the cast ( who I love ), or anyone involved in making the show. I wanted to make this review to purge my thoughts because I want to let go of the mess that this show was. This has spoilers so don't read it if you haven't seen the show ( if you haven't I respect that in all honesty ).

The plot sounds original, but the so-called love alarm is a device to embed the same clichés found in high school dramas with a submissive female lead bearing a tragic past, who now has two of her classmates fighting over her in a love triangle that is the primary focus of the show - that being, a love triangle that somehow spans over years. This wouldn't be the type of show I normally watch because 1) I respect myself and 2) I knew I'd be in for some intense ship wars. I watched this because of the cast. I am a huge supporter of Kim So Hyun and I discovered Song Kang through this drama so I give the writers that point. But what was this show? I binge-watched season 1 in a day ( back in 2019 ) and there were evident flaws, such as the way the relationships were written. Sudden and poorly developed romantic attraction, backstabbing friends, fights over the main female character for no reason, and mean girls galore. I was a fan of Sun Oh, to be honest, but then I watched other dramas after Love Alarm and I realized, "What the hell was I thinking?". The characters that I once thought were mediocre were now written abysmally as I watched actual good dramas that shifted my perspective and common sense. Sun Oh's actions were selfish to a degree, but also how did he Jojo fall in love to begin with? They kissed once out of him asking her to talk in an alley on the way home from school ( which to be fair, that has happened before in real life, and could very well turn into another Junko Furuta case - may the girl rest in peace ) so why was that romanticized? Aside from the very serious implications, they don't even know each other that well. Moving on, Hye Young was fine, but he didn't act upon his feelings for years. Again, that's fine, but if Jojo were to end up with Hye Young, why make her fall in love with Sun Oh? She broke up with Sun Oh for a dumb reason, and I know the show tried to be realistic with saying that passionate sparks of love don't last... but those were senseless sparks of love. The love triangle was the selling point of the show and it had been dug in deep. Okay, but I did cry my eyes out and feel for the characters. The flaws in the show I dismissed because I believed that Season 2 would resolve all of the loose ends. But did it? No. No it didn't.

Season 2 developed Hye Young and Jojo's relationship more, but did Jojo ever develop? She prioritized herself more, by hurting Sun Oh. Which again, I'm trying to dismiss, but no matter how selfish he was he shouldn't have had to deal with such a messy breakup. Hye Young I didn't hate or love, he was just there. He loves Jojo, but then I thought, what is there to love about her? I genuinely understand her past, but she had minimal character development and whatever "development" she did have it was borderline nonsensical. She hurt the characters through her decisions, which weren't that hard to make. Yook Jo is cute but she and Sun Oh didn't deserve so much heartbreak over one person - which to your surprise, was Jojo. I'm personally relieved that at least there was one decent thing that came out of the show, and it was that it ended. I used to be a huge fan of this drama, but I got so bored in season 2. I look back now and think "what was I on to call this mess good?". The love alarm app that fueled the whole drama was once more, a tacky add-on to a non-original plot with so many clichés that were poorly executed, to where half the show didn't make sense to me. Which, if I may add, the series tried to be progressive by saying that love doesn't depend on technology. Which brings me to say, "then don't make it such a significant plot point/mechanic..." or at least don't bring it into the show at all. This was a typical high school drama with a useless quirk that didn't have any point, and this series gives a bad name to youth dramas, because some of my favorite shows are school dramas. This love triangle was worse than School 2015, good grief. It hurts my brain to go back and think about this show. I'm disappointed that such good actors were put in a burning mess of a drama.

To be honest, I have no hate for the actors. They're the saving point of this, as I discovered my new favorite, Song Kang. Song Kang is the cutest, and I'm excited to watch Navillera with him because he has such range ( after I saw him in Sweet Home ). I could stomach Sun Oh's character ( not really, but I could tolerate it ) because SK gave such a stellar performance. For me, the way he emotionally touched me through his expressions is nice. I'm surprised to say that Song Kang's appearance didn't affect my opinion of him because I thought of that as secondary to his skill. Kim So Hyun is one of my favorite actresses in general, because of her versatility and the amount of comfort I have when just seeing her on screen ( because any drama of hers I watch usually becomes a favorite of mine ). Jung Ga Ram was okay, I didn't see anything particular about his performance that made him memorable but he didn't do so bad. To be fair, Jung Ga Ram and KSH didn't have that much chemistry to me, but that could be because of how much screen time Jojo and Sun Oh had in the first season. Kim Shi Eun ( who plays Yook Jo ) is really adorable though, to unconditionally love Sun Oh. But again, I was searching for something good to come out of the show because I didn't want to call this a waste of my time, so I tried to slap a gold star on the most normal-looking relationship. Also Go Min Si is commendable because I hated Gul Mi so much, so props to her for accurately portraying a terrible character, personality-wise.

I forgot to add in my opinion of the OST. The soundtrack is beautiful, and I listen to some of the songs to this day, mainly “Blooming Story” and “Falling Again”. The OSTs are perfect for what the drama should’ve been, and resonate deeply with me. I don’t know why such well-done songs were put in this drama, as they’re so hauntingly magnificent. I don’t know why I didn’t mention the OST here, but oh my god I have no words, if that makes sense. Love Alarm is basically the Domestic Girlfriend of Korean dramas, as much as I know I shouldn’t compare. This is the one undoubtedly good thing to come out of this drama as even after 2 years I still listen to these songs.

The main point is, do I recommend this to anyone? The friends I have/the people I'd recommend this to have brain cells so no. But if you're the one person who reads this and still wants to watch the show, go ahead ( I know I shouldn't have made a dumb pun/reference to a good drama that didn't deserve to be put into this review about a trashy show I saw ). I think if you're able to have no expectations and go in, regardless of the questionable characters and plot development, frustrating "twists" and the painful love triangle ( not that the outcome was painful, it was how it got to that point ), then go watch it; it may be your new favorite- yeah no I can't compare this to a good drama again because I don't need to drag an innocent show into my venting.

If you're too lazy to read this unintelligible, long review: don't watch it if you have brain cells, if so you'll be in for a ride of how to interpret trash that tries to fool you into thinking it's gold. If you respect yourself, then save yourself from this. I waited 1.5 years for nothing I guess. Oh well I'll bleach my eyes out with Seo Kang Joon or something, that should do the trick.
