Unfortunately Won't Stay In Mine

Liked the cast, but the story has a lot of flaws, as do some of the characters.
Kim Dong-wook plays Jung-hoon, with his incredible memory, which unfortunately enables him to not only recount events in video-like accuracy, but with the attached emotions too, beautifully. He is gentle, mild mannered and polite, but ruthless in his profession of news anchorman. Due to the pain that close relationships have caused in the past, he is a little reserved and closed off, but not cold.
Moon Ga-young as Ha-jin, is saccharin sweet and comes across a bit ditzy, but this is due to an event that caused her mind to block off all memories during a specific time in her teenage years.
The 2 are linked and their growing relationship begins to uncover a hidden story.
Within this are stalkers and murderers, as history seems about to repeat itself. Jung-hoon is pretty unlucky on the GF front it seems.
Keeping the facts from Ha-jin (for 'her own good') whilst also trying to maintain their relationship, protecting her from the past as well as present, are the general story lines.
The 2 lead characters are chalk and cheese. He is mature whilst she is like a teenager. Yes, she lost memories, but of a specific point in time and the people related to the incident, not of everything before that point. The way she behaves is infuriating. I really struggle when grown women speak in a child-like manner as a large part of their character and behave like one too.
She is disorganised, treats her manager-sister like a servant and brushes off low-key inappropriate behaviour from a film writer/director, when she should nip the advances in the bud.
The story has a lot of toing and froing as well, as they are caught up in countless scandals, which become an eye rolling "not another, please".
Frankly, I would have preferred he found someone else during the lazy '2 years later' bit of the story. Another thing I'm not at all keen on.
Two characters that really pushed the bounds of realistic, for me though, were Park Kyung-ae ~ how the hell an agency survives run by a woman like that...; and Yoo Sung-hyuk, a morally challenged, unethical, inhuman excuse for a professor/clinician (never mind father), who should never be allowed near patients and whose character should have been held way more accountable for his actions.
Not a drama I would watch again, or recommend. I watched to tge end because I wanted to know the outcome, but it really wasn't worth it.
Dong-wook playing Jung-hoon was its only saving grace. Oh and Ha-kyung and Il-kwon were sweet together.

Conquering your Past, Moving Towards your Future

When I first heard about this show, I was disinterested in the plot. I have viewed many Memory related dramas and movies, contemplating whether it is WORTH THE TIME. I am a person who studies and examines a broad array of topics, and Hyperthymesia (HSAM) piqued my interest. Superhuman intelligence or unique, supernatural powers is a common thread among Asian dramas. HSAM is unlike Eidetic Memory (Photographic Memory) because people with HSAM (less than 10 in the world) can remember and recall specific events in their life vividly like it was yesterday. Find Me in Your Memory is an appropriate title as the synopsis described the Main Leads' predicament.

The plot is full of clichés and things you have not seen a million times before except adding HSAM to the script that I have witnessed before Remember: War of the Son (2015) and other dramas. It is unique, but I found some of the subplots a bit boring and repetitive that does not add anything substantive to the main story. It did not take away from the story as a whole, but I thought it bogged down the story just a tad in the middle and towards the end of the drama. It has romance, a little mystery, steady character buildup, and fantastic chemistry between the ML and FL that kept the drama from sinking. You might be like me and feel the sparks whenever the ML and FL smiles, cries, or even look at each other. There were no cringe-worthy moments for me.

Lee Jung Hoon is an admirable character as the story progresses, and we learn about his condition and his job. A few people hated KDW because of his age, but age had nothing to do with the character. No matter the person who depicted Lee Jung Hoon, he would have to act as a person who has HSAM. KDW did a terrific job, especially considering what his character goes through daily, except I am a little disappointed the script did not go far enough regarding living with HSAM. I mentioned above, the few people who are living or have lived with HSAM can recall specific events in their life vividly. The first few episodes do a marvelous job regarding HSAM condition, but then it gets off track from the HSAM standpoint only for a couple of episodes.

Some people mentioned his character memorizes news articles and scripts, but it does not necessarily depict HSAM. They are partially right and wrong as people living with HSAM can memorize information in bulk but to some degree. Their brain takes information in rapidly like a running film of a movie, but it is nonstop. In the drama, we would see him gazing off in the past, reliving a memory like it was yesterday.

Moon Ga Young is a great actress. The character she portrays is beautiful and loveable, not without flaws, though. It is difficult to pull off a memory loss role (Amnesic), especially in this drama. Some people will criticize her because memory roles are repetitive and overused, but if you are like me, who the bleep cares, whether it is a memory, disability, scheming, hidden identity role. She is an interesting character as we understand her background and personality little by little. She is tall and well-built. Some people may find her personality off-putting at times, but do not let it influence your decision to watch this great show.

I have not watched all of the screenwriter's works, but she delivered on a couple of decent dramas like Duel (2017) and Nine: Nine Times Time Travel (2013) that gave me pause to consider Find Me In Your Memory. Screenwriting is a tough job as they have to research and do several revisions before the final draft. I was pleased with the performances of the supporting cast except for Yoo Tae Eun's father, a professor, and a few episodes scattered here and there as expected. I never anticipate polished acting with no flaws. I was annoyed with Yoo Tae Eun's father for questionable decisions because he is a Professor of Psychology/Neurology Department, but it is not called a drama for anything.

The OST is catchy; it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it works nonetheless. Some scenes the music was uncalled for, yet oddly I am drawn to it. I especially like the song "Here We Are" by Jooyoung. For the most part, the cinematography was not bad. You will fall in love with the main leads stories. Some dramas you binge-watch, while other dramas not so much. Do it at your discretion. Here is a tip if you like the first 30 minutes, watch the next 30 minutes, and so on—little at a time. The Last scene gave me butterflies of the film Notting Hill (1999) - Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, but Korean Style.

Final Rating: 8.33/10 stars
Story: 7.93/10 stars
My rewatch value varies on any given day, but I will come back to this drama in the future.

As I've mentioned in some comments I've made here, I am not the type to appreciate dramas with "age-gap issues". But still, I gave 'Find Me In Your Memory' a chance since I found the condition of the ML quite interesting. I am very glad and will never regret my decision to watch this drama.

STORY and PRODUCTION
I included production in this section of my review since it very much contributes to the storyline. The teamwork of the writer, director and those who worked for the drama's set, costumes and cinematography shines in the way each episode came out. I will not deny that some parts of the story may better have been excluded, but these do not, in anyway, make this drama less beautiful. Watching this drama felt like a journey on the sea aboard a cruise ship - the waves and winds may sway the ride at some point, but it is overall a relaxing trip with a view that delights the eyes and warms the heart.

CAST and ACTING
Kim Dong Wook and Moon Ga Young's age gap wasn't in any way noticeable - for me, at least. It is very obvious that they studied their characters very well and worked hard to make them come alive in their acting. The same is true for the other actors, whose characters are all loveable, but I'd like to mention in a special way, Yoon Jong Hoon, whose character, Yoo Tae Eun, is my favorite. I found myself being able to sympathize with his struggles and I was very happy with how his own story turned out in the end.

MUSIC
All the songs in this drama's OST are worth playing on loop. Period.

REWATCH VALUE
I could find myself watching this again after a string of heart-pounding and nerve-racking dramas. ^^

OVERALL
Having 'Find Me in Your Memory' as my first melodrama makes it all the more memorable.

To anyone who would give this drama a chance, you can expect 1) a comforting time with the characters where they are able to express themselves with honesty and sincerity, 2) moments that would challenge your detective skills in solving the thriller parts and 3) to discover that the impact of memories on our life is often based on our attitude towards them.

This is such a nice take on the melodrama genre. For a melodrama, it made me feel a lot of things - it has comedy, thriller, mystery, romance and strong casts and story. I never watched a melodrama that made me feel hopeful and good. Despite its gloomy vibe, there's something about it that drew me in. I did like it overall but have to say that its a shame it had some stupid tropes it could have very well done without. That's such a game changer for me. Without those, this drama would have been a perfect classic. It was already a satisfying watch but definitely was capable of doing better.

Things I liked:
-The strong points of this drama are for sure its characters and the music. Without the characters/actors who played their roles so well, this drama would have been average overall.

-The music was part of the viewing experience. Its been a while since I watched a drama that was able to cleverly use music/osts to accompany scenes. Every osts was wonderful because they were used at the right scenes and at the right timing. The scenes wouldn't have had the same impact without them. The last time I felt strongly this way was from My Mister and Doctor John.

-It took me a while to warm up to the idea of our main couple together. I didn't immediately see what a lot of people were talking about in regards to their chemistry together. Later on, after seeing their instagram lives and as we progressed more in the story - its safe to say they have become one of my favourite onscreen couples. They were polar opposites but complemented each other so well.

-The supporting actors helped take the viewing experience up a notch. There was variety of personalities so it really improved the overall mood of the drama. I always looked forward to seeing their scenes too because they were fun and entertaining.

- The drama used a lot of symbolism and parallels to showcase development and progress. I really liked those details, and they were easier to spot thanks to My Mister.

Things I did not like so much:

-As a lot of other people have pointed out already, the beginning started out strong only to peter out in the end. I don't know what happened, but the fact that they had to use some cliche tropes didn't help the drama. I am not against using cliche tropes especially if they're executed well and help the story progress, in this case though I felt like it was completely unnecessary because it took the overall quality of the drama down.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In general, that was all that I didn't like about the drama really. I feel like it's all encapsulated there. Overall, I'm glad I watched this drama. The vibe was exactly what I was looking for. I loved both our leads in their other projects. With Kim Dong Wook in The Guest. I saw Moon Ga Young in Live Up To Your Name and the fact that she stood out to me so much despite the minor role means she's done brilliantly. I wanted then to see her one day in a main role and she didn't disappoint. The range of emotions she's shown here was admirable. It's always so nice to see actors be so completely immersed in their roles.

Find me in your memory. At last! I finished watchin' this drama. This drama caught my attention last month yet it took me weeks to finally finished it.
I got hooked for the first 5 episodes and got distractred for the other episodes because the next episodes dragged down the story (sorry✌?).
Moreover, I did promise myself to finish watchin' this drama because the ML reminded me of one of my favorite kdrama actors-Park Yoon Chun. His acting together with the other casts was quite amazing.
I also loved the second leads?-Ha Kyung and the reporter. They made the drama lively.
This drama deserves an applause???.

This drama was a surprise. The first half came out strong. The story was not that unique but it blended well with how it was executed.
This was my first kdrama of Kim Dong Wok and he's acting was perfect. He can connect with everyone in every scene. I like the personality of his character as Anchor Lee, and how he portrayed it. His voice was a plus.
As for Moon Ga Young, she's good. Her chemistry with KDW worked well on screen. Her portrayal of a very honest and straight to the point actress suited her.
I also love the other couple in this drama the newsroom couple and youngest couple was a breath of fresh air.
I gave this an over-all rating of 8 because I felt that the last few episodes were a bit rushed. I feel like the first part was well written their lines were remarkable. Though I appreciate the location where they shoot some of the scenes on the latter part, it doesn't make up for the script. The last scene was close to perfect if only I did not have that rushed feeling on the back of my mind.

To sum it up, its a good drama. The cast was good. This was the first kdrama I watched where I have no idea or background of the acting works of the leads but it came out worth it of my time. It's a must watch.

the chemistry is superb!

THIS IS MY ONE OF MY FAVORITE! i never rewatch a drama or its behind the scenes before.
but Kim Dongwook-Moon Gayoung chemistry is totally changed me! :''') i even watched their live on yeohajin's ig acc haha
honestly the story somehow is light and familiar for kdrama lovers. but their chemistry, the dialogues, the cinematography, the soundtracks (which is not as many as other drama) are great!! we can learn from their mature relationship, and how anchornim and hajin give some space for each other at the right time. this drama definitely made me fall in love with Kim Dongwook!!

Poor plotting, lack of chemistry, no identification with leads

The plot is way too contrived and relies on several clichés and ridiculous, forced external conflict to develop. Lack of patient confidentiality is central to how the story develops, which to me is demonstrative of how poor and inorganic the writing is.

Overall, I thought this show's plotting was on the bad side of soap opera, with much of the conflict coming from deranged stalker psychos that push the characters forward. At one point in the show, the FL basically says outright that she didn't know if their relationship could last because she was out of danger from a stalker. And that's just it, their relationship seemed fueled by forced feelings of obligation brought about by antisocial deviants, more than from the chemistry of the characters themselves. I don't want characters falling in love because some sick paparazzi pervert pushes them together, but because their feelings emerge naturally from their dynamic, personalities, and freely made choices. Having some shamelessness in setting up a plot is fine, but this show is shameless throughout.

The leads are passable in their independent roles (the ML more than the FL), but I felt like they were poorly suited actors to pair with one another. Visually, they didn't work for me, and I thought their roles and acting were also incompatible. It wasn't convincing to me how their romance developed from antagonistic to loving. I really like this dynamic which is what attracted me to this show, but here it didn't work. Their dynamic seemed more like uncle and niece, since the actor is obviously way older and more experienced than the actress (and yet the age dynamic isn't brought up). She does a bit too much deer-in-the-headlights, doe-eyed listening, especially early, though there were aspects of her characters I thought she did well with. Her friendship with her sister is very engaging and cute (as is the sister's whole character honestly), and she's well-suited to the underestimated, shallow idol type. As far as my viewing went, though, I didn't feel any strong connection to the leads, their motivations, or the choices that they made.

Lastly, I felt like like the ML's powerful memory should have both caused more conflict and been able to solve more problems. The show didn't maximize the potential of its setup and focused too much on a weak, and frankly confusing, backstory plot. I wouldn't recommend this, especially for those who prefer character-driven stories.

This started out as a pretty decent drama, but I had a pretty hard time getting into it. More specifically I just couldn't easily ship the OTP in this show. I'm not adverse to age gaps at all, but the leads are just too far apart not in age, but in maturity and the production team made this even more extreme with making Moon Ga Young's character and visuals as juvenile as possible. It was kind of like watching a cartoon about the romance of a polar bear and an alien robot, I could only follow the story with detached amusement. (At least there was no love triangle)

With that said I have eventually gotten into it just fine and I felt pretty entertained, unfortunately the writer felt the need to ruin my fun almost right away. The three hours preceding the finale were pretty much garbage tier. First they broke up due to noble reasons, then they made up for like 5 minutes & finally the writer proceeded with the mandatory 2 year separation plot. I'm sick and tired of bullshit separation plots and the one in this drama felt especially bad. At least the final episode offered a pretty decent, but short happy ending.

I started this drama with little to no expectations, but it did surprise me in some ways not gonna lie!
It has a pretty nice concept, interesting characters and beautiful cinematography, especially the female lead looked extremely stunning in almost all the scenes, breathtaking! I liked some parts of the story like the stalker situation, doctor publishing illegally and all that,it really pull you in during these episodes, especially the whole deal with the stalker was super well written and executed. I loved the second lead couple, both seulgi and jin hyuk(who actually surprised me with his acting) did a great job .I must really compliment the artists who made the osts, they really outdid themselves, was super impressed!
What reduced my points is the fact that the plot is so messy, some parts good, others were very, very cliche. The writers tried to include way too many story lines into one.The last 2 episodes were a disaster, including the dialogues its like the writer gave up in the last episode. The ending was cute but still the way they executed it in the end made me feel little iffy. The story line itself was a little too unrealistic(?), like the whole love story line, something about it made me feel uncomfortable.
Still a good watch,was entertained :)

I was telling myself, I hope the story to be beautiful but after when I saw i was shocked and I never expected the story to be very perfect and The beginning was very beautiful.
anchor Lee Jung Hoon although he possessed a super memory, however it appears quiet and moderate on the screen and he was attacking mistakes and lies from famous guests, he was terrific in his work as an announcer...
Yeo Ha Jin was a famous actress with a successful and strange character and she was suffering from memory loss, and that shocked me the most friendship between Ha Na and Young was beautiful friendship, and The end was not bad or good, let's say was perfect.

I thank Directors and Screenwriters for beautiful story, and I Thank actors and actresses for amazing acting, In particular Kim Dong Wook and Moon Ga Young, On terrific acting.

This is a very good romantic suspense drama. The plot is well developed and it is about a girl that has lost some of her memories and a guy with hyperthymesia, which isabout having the ability to remember abnormally large number of his life’s experiences in vivid detail and sentiment. The drama revolves around the leading couple’s meeting, getting to know each other, falling in love, and having to deal with the trauma of loosing someone they both loved on the hands of a psychopathic stalker. The plot develops slowly as it fleshes out characters and their relationship with each other. The romance is nice and subtle, but also steadfast and endearing. The lead couple has good chemistry and the actors performed their roles beautifully. The drama has other side relationships that flow nicely into the plot. Moon Ga Young as Yeo Ha Jin and Kim Seul Gi as her sister and manager Yeo Ha Kyung rendered their characters fantastically with their strong support, care, and love for each other. Although not a perfect drama, especially because the writer(s) felt compelled to throw in some unnecessary clichés, it’s still very entertaining. Enjoy it!
