Hayata Shin, a member of Scientific Special Search Party (SSSP) — an organization dedicated to protecting Earth from monsters and aliens — encounters an enormous glowing orb in the sky and crashes into it. As the rest of Scientific Special Search Party tries to figure out what happened to him, a monster appears in a lake and Hayata encounters a gigantic alien from the Land of Light in M78 called Ultraman.
