Didn't really like Zhang Yu Jian character in this show. He was too immature and like a child. Yes, there was a gradual improvement in character, but it was very very little. Even till the very end, I did not see a big improvement.

That decision to disappear for 2 years at the end without a word to You You was just plain immature. I admit that the decision to leave the entertainment scene and let the online vitriol calm down was acceptable, but that does not mean you leave the girl you like in the lurch, without any word whatsoever. Love is about facing the ups and downs of life together (有难同当). The mature thing to do is the talk to You You and discuss with her what he intends to do and see how they can overcome the adversity together.

I much prefer the character Zhang Yu Jian played in LCDF (Yan Mo), where he is much more mature and responsible. Seeing this 360deg change in the character he plays here makes me irritated.

I am definitely for dramas with character development, and this one does it pretty well for the main male character. Yihan transitioned from being a spoiled obnoxious celebrity to someone who actually cares for people around him and matured towards the end of the drama. Pei Youyou, the female lead, is an independent woman, who basically stays the same throughout the drama. In the beginning, Pei Youyou believes that she has a "lower status" compared to him, which prevents them from actually loving each other. This is further cemented when Yihan constantly does everything for her without consulting her. Pei Youyou has lived all her life as an independent, so she does not need a rich husband providing everything for her. But in the end, she learns that husband and wife should try to face everything together and that she should only be mad at him for a short time, which I think is the sweetest moment in the drama.

The writers also did a very good job with the side characters and their stories, especially Lin Tian Nu and Kandi, since both characters are very passionate about their work, yet they find love for each other.

I started this drama with skepticism and thought it was just another short romantic comedy drama. However, it turned out to be pretty unique with a great cast and good writing with the last few episodes being the best.

I started watching this for the male lead, who impressed me in the delightful Le Coup de Foudre. In that he had to act basically expressionless, not as easy as it sounds. His acting in this one pleased me as it showed he can also display a normal range of emotions :)

I also started it because recently PRC dramas have been doing very well at turning out PURE FLUFF Dramas, sweet stories with ZERO major "drama" or conflict/tragedy. Le Coup de Foudre, Go Go Squid and Put Your Head on My Shoulder are examples of this. This Drama COULD have been, and imo SHOULD have been, but was not. For two main reasons:

1. The villain arc - introduced in the very first episode, the "villain out for revenge" is a clear foreshadowing of trouble to come. And sure enough, it arrives. Episodes 19-23 (and almost all of 24) contain effectively ZERO fluff, instead being angst, misery and tears. As the other Dramas cited prove, this was utterly unnecessary for a story of this type. Cohabitation and contract marriage Dramas CAN be made without resorting to the sort of melodrama that wasted 4 whole episodes of this Drama. And speaking of waste brings me to major flaw number

2. Not enough main lead time in the first third. This 24 episode Drama not only wasted 4 episodes on pain and tears, it spent the bulk of the first eight actively MINIMISING the time the leads spent together with no one else present. The Drama resorted to all sorts of annoying interruptions that served no purpose except to prevent the leads having time alone to grow the pairing. This was exacerbated by major flaw number

3. Three is the problem here - the number of couples the Drama featured. Go Go Squid and Put Your Head on My shoulder nicely showed how to develop a fluffy lead pairing while building ONE secondary pair. This Drama went for TWO secondary pairs. It should have picked one and stuck with it.

For the reasons outlines above, I give this Drama only 6.5. It should have been 20, not 24, with no villain revenge arc, and only one secondary couple. Had it been like that, it would have scored at least 8.5-9.0 because

THE LEADS ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER. This is a big part of why I was so annoyed by all the extra crud stuffed into this Drama - it detracted from the show's real strength, the sweet, cute, funny, HOT, and credible growth of the lead pair. The episodes from 8-18 were pure luff, and so very, very sweet and fun to watch. We saw both of them growing and developing, especially the male lead, who had so much more growing to do. That block of fluff is what the whole Drama could and should have been, with only minor conflicts and disagreements used to allow growth and development. The leads and their sweetness together are the whole reason this Drama gets as many points as it does.

As a hardcore brony, I'll almost certainly be rewatching PARTS of this Drama again, but because of the failings listed above, those parts will be fewer than they could have been. In terms of fluffy romcoms, I've seen MUCH worse (especially from SK), but I've also (recently) seen very much better, from the PRC. 10 episodes of fluff do not a 24 episode fluff fest make.

Contract marriage between an actor and his fan? This genre is my guilty-pleasure but...

Story: 6/10
1) Plot:
I have so many complaints regarding the story line. It was typical, too predictable for my taste. Actor gets into some trouble and the main girl steps in to help i.e via pretending to be his fiancee. Ok, this far it was good but things went downhill when they got married. It was abrupt and lacked chemistry between the main leads enough to make me keep expecting something like: 'hahaha, I was just kidding.' To be honest, I watched it till the end just because of the side characters who were pretty interesting but their story lines, even though were interesting, were rushed. This is the kind of drama which can be summed up in one sentence and that's all you need to know to understand all 24 episodes.
2) Characters:
Poorly written. Simply terrible. Especially the main lead. Maybe people enjoy characters like him but I'd use 2nd ML's words for him: 'He's a Giant Baby'. Yi Han really is a giant baby from the start till the end. If he wants something, he'd throw tantrums to have it and would bother his agent Kan Di (I loved her) till our FML comes along. Only one word to describe her: Moneygrubber. She's not exactly greedy or bad but her world revolves around calculating money all the time be it her own or her husband's. Like, seriously. Don't we earn for ourselves? I hoped for her to change by the end but she didn't. The main leads were already lovey-dovey and married by episode 14. Rest of the drama was THEIR drama which was pointless and stupid. Here, where the stories for the second leads started and much to my dismay, these got swallowed by the MLs drama that was supposedly the climax of the story.
=> The only thing I loved about the drama were the Inspire squad. They were precious friends of Youyou and then there was their shop. It was so cute and nice.
3) Character Development:
If there's one thing I appreciated in all the mess, it was a little bit of character development on the main lead's part. Where Yi Han is a giant baby, he changes to become a baby by the end. He grows out of his throwing tantrums and deals with issues in a bit more maturer way. Just a bit. Youyou on the other hand remained the same throughout. That's all. Other characters remained the same from start to beginning.

Acting: 7/10
Disastrous on the main leads part in my opinion but...I think they did their roles so well that I actually don't like them (>m<) So, basically I'm complimenting by not complimenting them XD
Again, the second leads' acting was tons better and I enjoyed their scenes. Tbh, I was looking forward to Kido Gao's role for he's the only one among the cast I'm familiar with. Lu Zi Zhen (Kan Di) impressed me though. She's GORGEOUS and was PERFECT for the role of Yi Han's agent, Kan Di. I understood the feeling of guy's crushing on her because, hell, even I fell for her (´∀`)♡

Music: 7/10
Bubbly and nice. That's all. Nothing about it stood out.

Re-watch value: 5/10
Nah, not the kind of show I'd sit down to watch EVER AGAIN.

Conclusion:
If you love the shows with bubbly characters who're on the borderline of being immature while being adults then this show is for you.
I'm not judging or anything but I well understand that everyone have their own preferences. This drama, simply, wasn't my cup of tea.

The only reason why I started watching this drama because I already familiar with some of the cast.

Story- I already watched some drama's with same plot like the chemistry between the celebrity and commoner that's why in the starting I thought it will be same as few more drama which I already watched before but after watching some more episodes I realised that I was wrong it is quit different from the other drama's with same plot.
I really liked the emotional part of this drama it's really touchy that I also got emotional. Apart from this the comedy and the romance part was also good.

Character- the main cast was done the great job. But I would also like mention that before this I always thought that Zhang Yu Jiyan can be fit only in arrogant role but After this my perspective got wrong. I really liked the Ran Zhi Shu ( Lun Yan Qi) and Lu Ming ( Wu Chen Xu).

You may watch this drama on Vikki and You tube with eng sub.
Love from India ❤️

This is a nice drama to watch while waiting for a great one to come. If you don’t mind a leading couple that is both immature and insecure, then you might find some enjoyment while watching. Although in the drama, for the most part, the male main character receives all the blame for the couple’s failure, it’s irresponsible to not focus also on the female lead’s insecurities and lack of communication. The drama intended to show characters development and, although it happened toward the end for both leads, the writer chose to separate the couple for two years to make that happened instead of learning from their mistakes by working together. The fact that the leading lady is portrayed as a moneygrubber and the writer chose to use it as an endearing and comedic trait on her part; it is really a turn off on her misleading personality. The romantic story was going well until they got married and everything went downhill when the couple’s chemistry took a nose dive and they lost trust on their capacity to love and work things through. The supporting cast was nice but they were also a mess in more than one way. Acting was subpar, the music was nice, but the storyline was mediocre.

I genuinely enjoyed watching this series. It had a different take on dramas that are not really seen: it should the actually ups and downs of a married couple. Having that aspect ensured that the relationship was more tangible and there less of chance for a sudden break up.

Plot:
The story was really good and displayed the relationship of Yi Han and Youyou really well. Whenever they had problems with each other they just talked it out rather than ignoring their problems and giving each other the cold should. Watching them trying to develop a relationship is actually quite hilarious because they hate each in the other in the beginning, so it transforms for a relationship to a love relationship. I really do appreciate how Youyou was able to accept her brother once he came into her life instead of resenting him. Youyou cares for her family amd it actually shows. The only thing i wish they did different was show the relationships of the side couples more. I felt like they were there, but there wasnt much to them.

Acting/Casting
I think the actors suited their roles well. Not only could i believe that weren't just acting, but living through their characters, they delievered their scenes really well. Im especially fond of Zhang Yu Jian, ive seen him in Find Yourself, and this role was very different and he did a great job acting it.

Music:
The music complimented the scenes well and the lyrics went along with what was going on the scenes. In my opinion it complimented the whole ambiance of the show.

Rewatch Value:
I personally wouldnt rewatch, but it is because i never rewatch dramas. For me the ending dragged out a bit, so thats why i wouldnt rewatch. But the beginning of the show was hilarious and i would rewatch for that.

Love contract or marriage contract are very common theme for chinese drama/movie. It's indeed not a very original theme, but still tolerable and watchable.

Honestly I can't stand with male lead, he's so childish, arrogant, grumpy and often out of his mind. But the time he (slightly) realize that he has a feeling for the female lead, his character become more acceptable. I think my acceptance to the male lead cannot be separated from the presence of the female lead. She's so independent, have a strong will (especially about money (≧▽≦)) and didn't chase the male lead blindly. Those characteristics makes her character become the great match (or the great counter attack should I say) to the male lead character.

The conflict is around the hatred of some people about their relationship or their personality individually or as a couple. The conflicts feels repetitive for me, thus I feel they have lost their power as a conflict, because somehow I can predict their appearance. Also, for some conflict the disclosure is not too strong, so that it feels the writer just ignore it.

The best plot is at the 3 last episodes. Really played with your heart and emotion, and I really feel suffocated to see them hurt like that. It would be better to have one extra episode to satisfying the viewers, but it's the best to make a season 2 for this drama. Especially more focus for Lin Tian Nuo-Kan Di couple and Lu Ming-Ran Zi Shu couple.

The casts acting are great. They did a great at portray the character’s personality and they’re all have a good chemistry. But, I want to highlight Kido Gao. The first time I saw him is in The King's Avatar and still can't believe to see his character is 180 degrees different from Yu Wen Zhou's character (≧▽≦) I always waiting his appearance, especially in a drunk state. His acting is so good and natural. I can't choose between Yu Wen Zhou and Lin Tian Nuo, he did great in both character.

The music I found in this drama :
1. Midnight Conversation of Fish and Sky by Dai Jingyao
2. Rescue (挽救) by Ning Yanyu
3. Obviously (明明) by Zhang Liange
4. Because of Me (因為我) by Wu Chong Xuan

This was one of my highest anticipated dramas of winter 2020 as I was getting into a lot of web dramas and the premise seemed interesting - the classic marriage contract hate to love relationship.

Overall thoughts? If you want to watch something light and silly to kill some time during this hard time, this was pretty good. To be honest, I watched the drama in two parts. The english subtitles were still coming out, and the site I was watching it on released 3-4 subbed eps a week. After some time, in the middle , decided to just stop and wait until all the eps were out so I could binge watch the drama like I do all others. but after a while, it was hard to get back into, and I ended up forcing myself to watch a single ep. So I gave up. Until I realized how much I hate to leave things unfinished, so I started up again.

In the beginning, everything was light and silly, as it was a romance between Yi Han, an aspiring actor who is immature and is in love with his manager, and Pei You You, an orphan who is working as a nail artist to try and buy her childhood home in order to feel closer to her mother. In the beginning, it was cute seeing You You as a strong, independent woman interact with her contracted fiance Yi Han, and basically babysit him. Eventually, we got to see a fun side to You You, and a very cute middle school romance bloom between the characters. I was actually really surprised how quick their romance started as they got officially married on their own within the first 10 episodes and the rest of the drama was them learning new things about one another and falling more in love. That was when I started to fall off as the drama seemed to be less about their quick romance (which I also appreciated because I hate waiting til (for example) ep 16 for the mains to finally kiss) and more about the romance between the side characters. First we have, You You's half brother Lu Ming and starlet Ran Zi Shu. At first, I absolutely HATED Zi Shu. She was borderline insane and throwing her affections towards Lu Ming who traveled to China for the summer to meet and get closer to a sister he never knew he had. He honestly, looked confused and terrified. But as the drama went on, their relationship was actually the healthiest one. Which blows my mind. They normalized and it was very simple and cute. On the other hand, we had Kan Di (Yi Han's manager) and Lin Tian Nuo (You You;s childhood friend and film maker). I won't go into this one much, but I felt like their relationship was unnecessary and forced. It seemed like they wanted to make a happy ending for everyone so they were like oh...Kan Di, the divorcee, and Tian Nuo, the childhood friend who never had a chance. I actually really liked Tian Nuo as a character - he was the opposite of Yi Han in the beginning as he was mature, level headed, and always accessed every situation as well as always put You You's friendship before any other feelings. But when he started to "develop" feelings for Kan Di...I lost interest.

It was the middle that lost me, BUT I had a glimmer of hope thinking that this drama could save itself by having a big conflict that came to light toward the end....and boy was I surprised. We all knew what or who the issue would be at the end, but I didn't expect it to unfold the way it did. I honestly, couldn't put my laptop down the last 5 eps as I wanted to find out what came next.

In the beginning, this drama was silly and fun, and I didn't expect AMAZING acting from a silly and light web drama, but for SOME REASON, the actors decided to pull a 180 the last few eps. It was like the actors who played Yi Han and You You decided to show up the last few minutes and then win the game with a huge victory. I found myself tearing up as I believed that they were both actually heartbroken. It ultimately made me bring this score from a 6 to a 7. Yi Han went through crazy character development and matured so much after all hell broke lose, and seeing him cry, BROKE MY HEART. I think I fell in love when he explained everything in his little speech at the end and now really want to see him in other dramas. Was I a fan of the ending...eh...it was super emotional and pulled at my heartstrings, but I already knew the fate of the two mains, as it was spoiled in the opening credits. I get why they chose to go that route as one of the reasons why they were having issues was because You You was feeling inferior to Yi Han and his career, so it was a little slap in the face with reality for You You, but it made for an emotional ride that made Yi Han and You You realize what is most important and what their dreams were.

Full of draggy tropes but enjoyable for different reasons

Like everyone else in the reviews, I was not a fan of the tropey draggy parts in the 2nd half of the show
and I went into this show knowing I'd be expecting to see some appalling "they fall in love but they break up due to a stupid understanding and there's this weird conspiracy that's trying to destroy them and the male lead disappears for n years" stuff

But this drama was still enjoyable (and hence an 8/10 instead of <7.5) because of an amazing male cast and some funny easter eggs.

Let's talk about the male lead Zhang Yujian. I found out about him from Le Coup de Foudre and he was this very mature, quiet guy when you first know him but secretly very clingy and funny. Here, he's an immature idol actor with not exactly a lot of character development, but there's a certain charm to this character setting *precisely because Zhang Yujian plays him.* He brings Yi Han's weird antics to life and if you look closely you can see some of that Yan Mo (his character in Le Coup de Foudre) as well as his authentic self (according to his media interfviews) sprinkled in. His portrayal of a man in great pain in the later parts of the story pretty much brought me to tears...

You'll recognize the second male lead (Lin Tiannuo played by Gao Hanyu) from a super big-hit drama this year Love is Sweet. The bromance between him and Yujian's character Yi Han was OFF THE CHARTS and those scenes are worth watching out for. The other second male lead -- Lu Ming (played by Wu Chen Xu?) is new to the drama business, but he's so cute and I love forward to seeing him do more in the future.

Finally, if you watched Le Coup de Foudre, you'd recognize some of the amazing easter eggs they sprinkled in:
like certain keywords they placed in the lines (like a discussion of how they don't like the world)
and the actor choice for the drama-within-the-drama -- Eden Zhao.
YES! The second-male-lead brother in Le Coup de Foudre plays first male lead in the drama-within-drama where Zhang Yujian's character Yi Han plays second male lead.
And Eden Zhao's character makes a joke about it too.

I guess there are also some other themes of Coup de Foudre to look out for, and it's especially a treat to see Zhang Yujian play such a different character in this drama (with a hint of similarity).
