Hun and Ga-rin carry this kdrama

i really liked this kdrama. the main character could be a little annoying sometimes, but the comedy makes up for it. there were some boring parts, but you can't really escape that. definitely recommend this kdrama for beginners, because i was also one when i watched it. by the way, Choe Hun and Oh Ga-rin were definitely my favorite couple and i loved their humor so freaking much!!

ALSO:
i was team Tae-oh FROM THE BEGINNING. like, Do-hyeon was fine and all but he was a little boring to be honest.

My First First Love was a good drama. It started kind of slowly and a bit oddly too, but it picked up quickly.

I did like Ji Soo's character and he portrayed him very nicely, with boyish charms and boyfriend quality shots. Jung Jin Young was adorable as well and he is blooming into a great actor. However, the leading lady was a bit annoying. I found her character a bit messy, as she presented two personalities throughout the drama.

Another thing that i didn't like was the way they had ended the drama. The ending could have been a bit more smoothly, even if there is a second season coming soon.

The second couple, finally, was cute and promising. And they provived some solid funny moments overall.

So, seven out of ten.

Tae-yo's Bunkhouse For Stowaways ¤ How They Rock The Boat Until They Float. °Excellent°

This breezy series is like riding a skiff, whisking along the ebb & flo. We all know it wouldn't be a Kdrama without some stormy moments, as well as a sad sense of loss for a 'sailor', or two. For all that, MFFL, like a summer shandy&soju, is lite and full of good cheer.

Tae-yo is from a (pause) comfortable family. As such, he gets to live alone at one of the family docks (a spare house) while bobbling through college.

In the span of a dozen bells or so, several of his mates suffer a boarding crisis and show up at Tae-yo's 'gangway.' This mishmash of stowaways all know Tae-yo, but none of them know each other. Aigoo, why did he answer the door? His one friend, Cho-hun, (Hun) played by the charming Kang Tae-oh, boards wearing a dress(⁉). The captain, his $father$, you see, had ordered him to jumpship and leave anything Hun hadn't bought with his own money. Iin other words, leave with nothing. Pushed out to sea on an iceberg, he has no lifeboat... or pants. Dangerously exposed to arrest, said dress, swiped from a clothesline, is what bare-ly spares him from the MP's and the brig.

All aboard! Tae-yo fails to take any prisoners or to make anyone walk the plank. He accepts that they'll be bunking with him for weeks out to sea. He must keep their enlistment at the quarters hidden from his father, The Logistic CDR, or lose his own cabin. Bon Voyage! Wave❕ MFFL pulls up anchor and begins merrily drifting with the tide.

In our spy glasses, we view Tae-yo's Crew adjusting to close quarters, while unavoidably forming a band-of-brothers and making allies with the broader circle of Tae-yo's friends, while at the same time keeping each other's secrets (mostly). These shipmates are like warm currents. It's cozy and cheery sailing with them. There's Song-i, Tae-yo's best friend, who's mom went awol, there's Gar-in, who ran away from her suffocating mother, (Gar-in's cuter than a Pekingese Dog Fish) and you've already met Hun. Hun's an out of work/never worked actor & singer (but not much of a dancer). He and Gar-in are the live entertainment. Hun also astutely marks the 5 stages of Tae-yo's breakup, in real time live feed. He's wrong about it all, and yet he's so right. Wrong or right, he's adorable.

In MFFL there's another of those ubiquitous Bermuda-love-triangles, but with its own twist. Predictable? Given that they meticulously forecast the weather, it's clear to see where things are headed. (Predictable is generally a tedious criticism of romances & feel-good jaunts. For a thriller or mystery - or an M. Night Shyamalan film - predictability is a shipwreck; but for works like MFFL, it's an empty net). The love triangle is integral to the plot in MFFL, so we shouldn't blame them that so many other productions forcibly wedge it into their scripts. Nevertheless, Kdramas are flooded over with unnecessary formulaic love triangles. While we're swabbing the deck, we can address one more overused device - MoMPs: Missing-or-Misplaced-Parent(s) show up too often as well. In MFFL this is not well used and is a plot weakness.

But MFFL doesn't take on water just because, in a house of 20 year olds, romantic pairs form and reform. Close quarters, particularly on this "Love Boat" lead to such. They're all looking for the perfect oar to go with their rigging, afterall. It's the journey, the swelling attraction, imbibing truth about one's feelings, and the GoPro filming keeping things afloat, along with the smiles and the warmth.

MFFL also dives into growing pains, especially adjusting from kiddie pool friendships to the wide open seas of adulthood. Tae-yo and Song-i have been inseparable since age 3. We watch them each drop anchor into a relationship. There's a big adjustment for all parties, given how close those two are.

When Song-i is first dating, she keeps the identity of her boyfriend classified, because he's Tae-yo's friend, and they aren't ready to go public. Tae-yo is thoroughly agitated over everything happening with this phantom bf of Song-i's. He says: 'This jerk let you walk home in the rain' (he had to work). Then Tae-yo comes out with: 'A decent guy would never let the woman he loves doubt herself'. Of course, right then he's causing her, his best friend, to doubt herself. 'She's got to break it off with that dude', He complains to his friend. Said friend and Song-i are each getting dating advice from Tae-yo, who doesn't connect that they are the two dating, even when he comments that their stories are similar. He loves to complain about the jerk Song-i is dating to that "jerk," who can only listen and take it. Cute.

Director Oh Jin-suk is 2-for-2 with me, as I love "My Sassy Girl," (2017). That show is also weatherproofed with straight feelgood joy, despite the usual impossible outlook in ep1.

Cruisin on this 'houseboat,' and with this blended crew, following them on their excursions to school, work, dates (why is that jerk keeping Song-i out so late! Grrr) and back home again, is what makes it skip like stones on a brook. MFFL is not trying to be a tempest. It gently flows, so these friends can coast near the shoreline and stargaze from the top deck. It's a swimmy recess, a winsome escape, and plain old smooth sailing.

In short, slipping away briefly with MFFL is just happy hangout time whilst catching the high tide with buoyant allies. If you hate smiling, just take the next charter.

Now pass that Soju shot!

IMHO...

The storyline, like others are saying, is very predictable and kind of corny. It is the typical old friends realize they like each other after seeing them with other people. I'm not even going to watch the second season because I (accidentally read a spoiler but also) can completely guess what will happen.

I don't think that the chemistry of the actors was that good; I enjoyed the main two as friends, but didn't feel the romantic tension they were so clearly trying to insert. Do Hyeon was cute with Song Yi but nothing heart fluttering like most people want.

Mostly the acting was good, but I have to say, Choi Hun, or Kang Tae Oh, was pretty bad. I cringed quite a lot watching him overact to the EXTREME. It was way too much. I felt this a little with the main male lead, Ji Soo, as well (but not as extreme).
Overall, its fine, but I do regret watching it because I could have been doing somthing much more productive with my time.

Rip off of "Because it's the first time"

Rip off of "Because it's the first time"
Characters background and featured, plot and theme is very similar. However, this one is well produced. So thumbs up to the director & thumbs down to the writer. I would've given it a 10 of it was not someone else's deserved praise.

Not much else to say.

I think the writers were wrong with this one!

The storyline was okay. I liked the idea of the two main characters having known each other for years. The acting was good for the most part (some of the comedic relief stuff was a little over the top). It was going along quite well until, WHAT THE HECK!?!?! Warning, rant coming...

Most of the episodes demonstrated how Yoon Tae Oh and Han Song Yi had been friends for years, and that she never thought of him as more than that. He had first love syndrome but then moved on to someone else. Multiple episodes served to show the developing relationship between Song Yi and Seo Do Hyun, including discussions about heart fluttering, confessions of affection, first kisses. They had beautiful chemistry together and his character was warm, caring, sweet, and genuinely a nice guy. Then all of a sudden, he's out of the picture and Song Yi and Tae Oh get together!?!?! In the first place, Tae Oh was not the most likeable of characters. He was selfish, immature, entitled. And let's be honest, you've known each other for 20 years, if you were going to have a relationship, you would have done it in that time. It also left a bad taste in my mouth because it made her seem too fickle. She really liked Do Hyun, then she didn't all of a sudden?

This show actually made me mad for having wasted my time.

As a huge Jisoo and Jinyoung fan, I was definitely ready for this drama. I know how amazing both our male leads are, so my expectations were high, and thankfully they were met. I was hooked from the first episode and literally stayed in bed all day to finish the drama in one go.

The relationship between Tae Oh (Jisoo) and Song Yi (Jeong Chae Yeon) was really cute. They individually portrayed their respective roles brilliantly too. Jisoo's smile is enough to make me giddy. I love this man with a passion, and he makes everything worthwhile to watch. I didn't know what to expect from Jung Chae Yeon, I was just hoping she wouldn't disappoint, and she didn't. I would be happy to check her out in something else after that performance.

The relationship between Song Yi and Do Hyeon (Jinyoung) was just as great as the two besties mentioned above. They had great chemistry and I was once again impressed with Jinyoung and Chae Yeon. Jinyoung especially pulled off the various emotions very well, might I add. I really wanted Do Hyeon and Song Yi to get together quicker though. I kept wondering if they were ever actually going to get together. Am I the only one who felt that?

Choi Hoon (Kang Tae Oh) and Oh Ga Rin (Choi Ri) were super cute too, whether together or with the others of the friend group.

I genuinely despised the female that Tae Oh (Jisoo) falls for. I hate that this typical annoying and evil role was given to someone. I must give credits to the actress, because she does a great job of making me hater her.

Overall, I really enjoyed this. I am looking forward to season 2. Directors better not keep us waiting too long after that ending.

This drama was really good but also predictable many episodes before the actual end.
I loved Do Hyeon character, he was so human with his feeling and thoughts that was way long better than Ji Soo character. If you like romantic dramas, this one is the for you, there are no high expectations, nothing so dark or sad stories just a really, really light story. Probably could be less long, due to the end, because around episode 13 you can fully understand how this one's gonna finish... I really liked how also the focuses on the secondary cast people, by adding their stories and not being left behind like many dramas, also the second couple was super sweet !!!

This is a good example of a light hearted drama that can be entertaining without getting corny. I had dropped the Chinese romcom Sweet Dreams because it was stupid as $&$@&! When I saw this I was hopeful because I was very impressed with Ji Soo’s work in Strong Girl Bonsoon.

Although there are some cliche situations, the story is well written and engaging. I loved watching Ji Soo as usual. He has a charisma that draws you in and you can’t help but love him. He is annoying but sympathetic and I would love a big brother like him. I find his overprotective attitude of his best friend endearing.

Although there are only 8 episodes filmed, I am liking it very much and am looking forward to see how it ends. It keeps me guessing about what the outcome will be and I like that it’s not quite predictable yet.

Acting is so-so. Some performances are weaker than others but nothing noteworthy. Looking forward to the next episodes.

I only planned to watch this since it was a short drama, plus Jisoo is finally the lead. The friendship between the characters is very nice to watch. When something good happens, they celebrate together and when something bad happens, they are also deeply affected. I believe that the actors and actresses really brought to life their specific roles. I personally am shocked with Jung Chaeyeon's acting, not because she is an idol, but because I have heard so much reviews saying her acting is bad. In this drama, she looks so relaxed and maybe it is also the character of Song-i that makes her act it out well. As we all know, Jisoo is a phenomenal actor. He just brings comical banter while he acts and adds that laughter effect we all need once in a while. My favorite character is Do-hyun because at a young age, he thinks maturely and makes decisions himself. You can sense he has a sense of responsibility and the writers in my opinion, wrote that part well.

I personally rooted for Do-hyun but I think it is a personal bias hehe. However, there is a reason why Tae-oh is really the main lead. Though not confirmed, the ending says a lot for a new season of this drama. I'm pretty excited for the continuation of this story. Hopefully Se-hyun just fricks off because Tae-oh and Jisoo does not deserve this disrespect !!

Meh.

I’m split on whether I like this more than the original. I like that it the cast and story are aged up a bit and some of the storylines have changed for the better. In this one I felt the relationship and chemistry develop between Do-Hyun and Song-Yi, but I’m also partial because I like this casting of Do-Hyun a billion percent more.

I hated the casting and plot of Ga-Rin in this version. That character was much more nuanced and interesting in the original. Hoon is also a lot better in the original too. Funnier, less cloying.

Oh and Se-Hyun was the WORST in this one. Ugh she sucks.

I think for Ji Soo's first role as main lead it really doesn't feel like it, the drama focuses a lot on Chae Yon and Jin Young's relationship that I feel bad when they broke up. They create an attachment to the viewer, and you start to actually want them to be together. I feel like Jin Young plays a pretty bland character, so I understand why they couldn't keep them together in that sense. It's a pretty plotless show, they don't really focus on anything else except Ji Soo moving mountains for another girl, he won't end up with. I think that was also unnecessary as well.
