Watched for the hype

Story is good but exactly not my genre. 50 episodes is too lengthy for me. Starting few episodes and direction is poor. Really hated that they converted bl to bromance due to chinese regulations. The novel is definitely great. Casting is superb. Only gave 8 for my favourite character Wei Wuxian. I want his chenqing and whatever lol.

Lan Zhan's headband was so cute including his poker face.

I hated the fact that every other person had 2-3 names. It maybe easier for Chinese people but it's difficult to remember all names by the international audience. Another thing, some names were too similar to be not confused. (Jin Zixun- Jin Zixuan) (Jin Guangyao - Jin Guangshan)

Maybe you can try this, it's good but just not my type.

Work of art

I think Masterpiece would be a little less to represent this drama. I was a little skeptical when I saw there are 50 episodes in this drama. But I really didn't feel it lagged anywhere. If only I can watch this in one sitting!!! I really really enjoyed this drama. The story, the CGI, the story telling and the characters. I would say I fell in love with this drama. This drama depicts lot of emotions, relations and the story telling was top notch. I couldn't help but think how they made this drama possible. It includes too much of hard work. Acting was fabulous. It combines everything and outcome is just out of the world.
I can proudly say that I'm off to read the novel. I heard that drama is heavily censored.I want love scenes b/w them. The emotions b/w main leads are over flowing. I want to experience more..?

Best film ever! The cast played their character well and music fit perfectly. I cried and laughed with each character. I've never been so addicted to any fantasy drama before but in this was another story. I love all about this drama. Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan have very good chemistry, and they're both very good looking. I mostly just watch the drama for their interactions.
Every things about this drama is beautiful and elegant , any post about it just touching my heart I love the main characters and others, thanks guys for this drama you made it so perfect, thank you for your hard work

EPIC!

Epic! I cannot say this enough. I was excited when I first read the synopsis and heard about this show. From the first minute of the 1st episode, I was hooked. I don’t think I slept more than a few hrs a day while binge watching.
The story is so well written, the CGI, script, locations ... everything done so well.
The cast, oh the cast. I thought everyone was great in this, not one slacker. But, the two main leads... stole my whole self, my whole attention! Major props to Xiao Zhan & Wang YiBo for portraying Wei Wuxian & Lan Wangji so well! The chemistry between these two...! ❤️
Xiao Zhan’s little teases and smiles, his laugh gave me life (especially when they were directed at Wang YiBo’s character Lan Zhan)..he was addictive...I got it Lan Zhan, I totally get it! With all the longing looks and smiles thrown at each other, I bought there was more between them (even if they didn’t show me the goods :))
Wen Ning & Lan Sizhui were a joy to watch as well.
This drama is well worth the 50 episodes.. it’s actually worth more. I could watch this for another season.
With the Perfect amount of drama, awesome humor thrown in, great action & a dedicated couple that redeemed themselves to each other (the only that matters :)) ... The Untamed was and is my favorite Chinese drama!
Loved every second!
I’ve already rewatched 5 times and counting!

A rare treasure

OH my God .... I just watched this drama recently and am like how on earth did I miss such wonderful piece of art.... the drama is nice, the cast, the story line , music ... everything was utterly sweet ??

when I started the movie , I was already laughing all thanks to zhain who made it impossible to stay calm ... then we traveled to lotus cove and am like Damm yibo? it was given. am not a fan of Chinese drama.. I don't really watch them but since I finished this drama ... am having a hard time watching any other movie .. cus am scared I won't lyk them. this drama makes me have a high taste in movies... I need more ???

Really don't hesitate to watch it....
We can mainly divide drama into three parts.
1. How the both leads grow their friendship
2. Main Leads sorrows and struggle time
3. Revenge part for their beloved ones
Everything is perfect in this drama, I like both leads their acting and expressions, I am looking forward to watch the drama Gank Your Heart as my favorite Wang Yi Bo is Main lead
Please don't hesitate watching this drama only because there is no female lead.

So this was and still is one of my favourite TV shows of 2019. It really struck a nerve with me. The acting was fantastic, as was the music and the lighting and the costumes. And don't even get me started on the chemistry between Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan. The relationship between their characters was so deep and incredibly moving. You could just see the love communicated in the littlest expressions and movements. There was absolutely no question that Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were in love with each other, and that cannot have been an easy thing to convey under the rule of censorship.

Basically, The Untamed was awesome from beginning to end, not just for the quality of the acting and the story, but for its representation of LGBTQ relationships. Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, produce another season, because the world needs more stories like that.

AMAZING STORY!

My only regret is that I didn’t watch this sooner or savour it more before it ended. I’m now looking forward to ravaging the book series and then watching the anime or rewatching this drama again. I’m so happy now that I’ve watched it. It’s one of those great dramas that tells a story extremely well and feels like it’s a unique story and its characters are always mesmerising to watch. The eye contact, facial expressions and emotions expressed from the male leads and cast were really great and I love that Wei WuXian and Lan Zhan are more polar opposite than perhaps any characters I’ve seen on TV before. From the beginning to the end I love how they never changed themselves and who they were but overtime became closer and more open-minded and mature about the world and so on.

Somehow Captivating

This review comes from a re-watch a couple of years after the first run. As with many of the newer historical dramas, it isn't without its common flaws. So why the higher score despite some shortcomings? Because it was fun to watch the first time and was still fun to watch the second time.

- Even if the acting is slightly cringe at times, the chemistry still manages to work and you'll still laugh out loud, then shed a few tears, and go back to laughing again. Xiao Zhan also does a good job in keeping the momentum going.
- Even if there are some plot holes and inconsistencies, the story and twists were well-paced and interesting enough to keep you wanting to get to the next episode even when it's already past midnight.
- Even if the action scenes are flimsy at times, it's too late to care because you're already drawn in to the plot.
- Even if the dramatizations can get a bit much as usual, it actually works well here for the comedy relief which balances out the grimmer undertones.

Despite having dropped other series for less, this one just manages to blend itself well. For a fairly long drama, it surprisingly had minimal draggy moments because the plot usually shifts when it threatens to reach that point. The underlying morals Asian films usually try to incorporate, is actually much more realistically done in this one. And although I don't agree with the romantic censorship, it works out well for me personally because romantic subtleties are usually much more meaningful.

Overall, it is a memorable one and it makes me think the novel must really be great.

Experience

So my experience was the best i loved it from the actors to the writing to the way it was portrayed this was my experience and I think everyone forgets that it is a after a BL romance novel but they also forget that in other country’s romance between men is forbidden so that’s why it’s a little confusing to some of others but they should also look more into the show as they legit got married like 5-6 times. Also the bunny and donkey kisses the bunny represents lan wangji and the donkey is Wei ying. And the ending is like the most satisfying to as you can clearly tell lan wangji went back for Wei ying and it’s such a happy ending compared to like half the couples who didn’t get one, so I would say this was one of my favorites. And it’s like my 15 time watching it
