When a Little Lie spirals out of Control

9/10 is my rating. This is a 2011 South Korean t.v. drama with 16, 60 minute episodes. Gong Ah-jung (Yoon Eun-hye) is a dedicated civil servant who worked hard to work in her career with the hopes of impressing and gaining the attention of her first love. Before Ah-jung can enact her romantic plan her seeming friend steals her guy and marries him. Flash forward a few years and Ah-jung has maintained contact with this frenemy but is determined to get revenge. Still unmarried she chooses to lie about her status and says she is married. The lie snowballs through the gossip chain until it transforms into she is secretly married to the most eligible bachelor in Korea, wealthy hotel heir, Hyun Ki-joon (Kang Ji-Hwang). Ki-Joon is none too happy with the lie and is determined to exact his own revenge. Hilarity and heartbreak ensue amongst plots, revenge, romance, and love triangles.

Spoiler 🚨 There were some slow parts as well as some parts where I felt sheer frustration with the female lead. The romances were believable and the plot held together well. I recommend this highly but warn there are some slow spots.

Lie to me reseña

Este drama de primeras es un drama normalito en conjunto se puede decir. La verdad es que comienza muy bien y es interesante pero a medida que vamos avanzando la verdad es que va perdiendo fuerza. Para mi es un drama aque prometía ser un buen drama pero que se quedó en un simple drama para ver una vez y ya está. Las actuaciones son buenas he de decirlo pero la pérdida de fuelle a medida que avance hace que se desinfle por completo el drama. No es un mal drama, por qué lo dicho tiene un buen comienzo pero no supieron seguirlo como se debería para mi opinión. Lo mejor es verlo y juzgar pero os recomiendo ir sin ningún tipo de expectativas

Watched it for the kiss scenes

All and all this was a cute watch. But that was pretty much it. The main leads did a good enough job in their roles and provided some good chemistry and some lovely romantic scenes. That said, there wasn't enough of a plot to sustain this drama for 16 episodes. If you solve the characters' main problem, then what is left to progress the story further?

The drama also changed the writer mid-way and you can really tell that the characters slightly changed personalities, making them seem sorta bipolar if you're not aware of the change. This also hurt the side characters, judging how they simply got forgotten, making the flow of the story seem inconsistent and messy.

If you like the rich man/poor woman romantic comedy trope with plenty of fluff, somewhat cheesy to the point of cringing, then this drama is for you. Sometimes you just want to see some happy couple scenes and that's something this drama provides.

Okay, okay. I do love sappy and cheesy dramas with a strong female character. An added bonus was that it was fun to watch and some scenes made me laugh so hard. Honestly, I started to watch this because of Yoon Eun Hye. I find her cute and I think she has great acting chops. I liked her pairing with Kang Ji Hwan since they have good chemistry. I also like the main male lead's character of being thoughtful, supportive or staying strong for his woman despite oppositions and criticisms. We also get to see beautiful views of Jeju Island which I wish to visit in the future. The only downside at the end was her hesitation to get married to him when he proposed. I think that part dragged a bit. Aside from that, it was an enjoyable romantic comedy.

This drama is a total surprise. I like the actress, without a doubt, because she's one of my favorite and she never fail me with her acting skills. At first, I'm a bit hesitant to watch it because I don't necessarily find the actor cute and I wonder if he and Yoon Eun Hye will make a good tandem and surprisingly they did. I even find the actor cute and adorable. I really enjoyed the movie in the sense that although its a typical romantic comedy type of drama but it was a sort of breathe of fresh air at the same time. If you'll ask me if its worth the time..I would definitely say a big YES.

Good but could have been better

Production is superb. Great locations or setting; high quality venues. Excellent actors with good acting. Quality or top notch actors. However, script and screenplay could have been improved. It has the potential of being a quality rather top quality drama.
One of the issues (among many?) is:
As seems typical of Korean Drama, has difficulty when it comes to portraying or rather establishing love connection between ML and FL. Its either too shallow or done the shortcut way - thereby depriving emotion or drama into the romance or love between ML and FL. Its like, they saw each other - voila - they are on already........
