Award-winning true crime writer Michiko Takamine receives a manuscripted first draft for a biography of Fujiko "the Killer" Uehara in the mail. The manuscript was written and sent by no less than Fujiko's elder daughter, who has since succumbed to a fatal overdose. However, Michiko notices the biases of the daughter's manuscript, and decides to interview the condemned criminal herself to start the project anew.
