I actually didn't intend to write a review for this. But since there's only one submitted so far, I thought one more opinion can't hurt.

The King's Case Note is not a movie with deep meaning but purely for your enjoyment. It's about a king and his scribe who together investigate strange occurrences which turn out to be part of a conspiracy (again). I know, it's nothing new, I thought the same. The beginning was a bit slow and unspectacular, and the plot was very predicable.

But I still enjoyed the movie because of its cast. The further I watched the more the characters and their bonds (even though only shallow) grew on me. Lee Sun Gyun just has this special charm and his voice is like a clever bait or something. Silky as honey. Then there's his acting which always gives his characters something unique. He played his majesty and was striking. He was fun to watch and by no means stuck up or something but rather flexible in his actions - and still preserved his royal demeanor.

Even though the story itself was not new or deeply impressive, the dialogues and comedy were still amusing. And together with some other colorful elements, it felt like a historical steampunk movie that doesn't take itself too serious.

Whether you watch this to pass some time or to enjoy the hidden gems in this (aka Jung Hae In or Jang Young Nam), it's definitely not a complete waste.

combining historical and comedy together is actually a really entertaining watch. I wish they went a little more hardcore with the comedy, but it made me laugh a couple of times and smile all throughout the movie.

the appealing part of this was the unusual bromance between the king and obbo, and the fact that the king was actually smart, compassionate and cared for his family and his people.

the story was not overdramatic with the palace politics and instead made it into a "investigation" rather than betrayal and fights.

also I really loved seeing several of my favorite side actors, though I'd have wished they had a bigger part in the story -especially my girl Kyung Soo Jin- I did like the fact that this was just about the king and obbo~

I really liked their use of the pirate like dramatic background music, and the scenery was beautiful~

I never rewatch movies, so this was a fun 1 time thing~

Is he Sherlock Holmes? Is he a Augustus Caeser of Rome? Is he Musashi Miyamoto? Is he Neo? Is he Batman?

Wrong, he is all and none at the same time; he is above all.
King Ye Jong a.k.a. Lee Sun Kyung has the speed/time perception of Neo from the matrix, deduction skills rivaling that of Sherlock Holmes, benevolence equal to King John I of England and the pacifism and greatness of King Augustus Caeser, the swordsmanship of Musashi Miyamoto and the pure badassery of Bruce Wayne.

Was sort of funny but no real LOL moments. Decent cinematography. Acting was good, casting was relevant to the characters but the characters were one dimensional.

Decent movie as long as you don't mind how predictable it is.
