There’s something undeniably magical about War Wanarat and Yin Anan when they share the screen. It’s more than just chemistry. Maybe it’s their friendship. Maybe it’s their uncanny ability to tap into nuanced emotions while weaving romance effortlessly into their performances. Whatever the reason, they consistently bring a depth to their characters—a depth that resonates even when the story itself falls a little short. The Thai BL Jack and Joker: U Steal My Heart is a perfect showcase of the magic Yin and War create together. But it’s also a reminder of how much more they could achieve with a series that truly challenges their abilities—one as well-written as the performances they deliver.

This short but unsullied movie, broken into 7 episodes, is surprisingly effective and very entertaining. While a few cringe worthy scenarios brought it down a few notches, there is one big framework that catapults it back up into the stratosphere, making it exceptionally rare for a KBL. This is an obviously low-budget production that has essentially two main characters and only a smattering of other characters. Thus, it is character driven.Sales Team 2 has just received word of its dissolution because of a management crisis. Han U Jin (Jung Jae Bin) is the team leader and must wrap things up with all the partners in a few months. With no one left to assist him, Yun Su An (Jeon Ju Bin) is assigned to help him with closing details. Unbeknownst to Yun, Han harbored a previous fascination with him. For reasons unknown, he has awakened within Han memories of meeting him many years ago while Yun was working at a coffee shop. He became enamored with him then. Han is now surprised and delighted to see him standing before him as his new assistant. Han is rather inept at trying to win Yun’s attention over and comes dangerously close to harassment on several occasions. That indeed could have been handled better. The term ‘awkward’ comes to mind immediately.

Had So Much Potential Which Was Wasted
Eccentric Romance starts strong, quickly grabbing attention with its intriguing mix of romance and mystery. The first episode set a thrilling tone, opening with a murder scene that transitions seamlessly into the lighthearted friendship between Jay (Save Saisawat) and Seong Hun (Yoon Jun Won). The initial chemistry between the two leads creates an intimacy that anchors the series, even as the alternating language shifts occasionally feel awkward. However, despite its promising setup, the series quickly loses focus.Read the complete article here-

Star Crossed Lovers with a Fantasy Twist
“Reverse 4 You” is an interesting take on “star-crossed lovers” who have to overcome their fate and find a way to be together, not just with each other, but with their loved ones. I believe that the show would have benefitted from telling stories of Jattawa (Mae Methakarn Anektanasuwan), Vivi (Manao Natnicha Polsombat) and Four’s (Christine Gulasatree Michalsky) past and/or alternative lives to drive the story and add tension, instead of following just one timeline, because it left the ending feeling too rushed and the pay off was lacking because some crucial things were not explained or dealt with. With enough care and thought, this could have been a very compelling series, but it because boring very quickly due to the writers focusing on all the wrong aspects of it.Read the complete article here-

Another Masterpiece from Hwang Da Seul!
In life, we’re all searching for a lifeline—a smile, a sunrise, a reason to keep going each day. For those who know only pain, that lifeline becomes even more vital. The Korean BL Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo offers just that. It brings together two young men—abused high schooler Lee Do Hoe (Kim Nu Rim) and the equally abused but cheerful Sin Ju Yeong (Lee Seon) who are both desperate for a glimmer of light in a world filled with shadows.
From the moment Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo was announced, I knew I’d fall in love with it. I’m no stranger to director Hwang Da Seul’s work, and I admire how her dramas delve beyond romance to explore the psychology shaping relationships and how people process trauma in their own unique ways, both on-screen and off.

An Interesting Adaptation Indeed!
Based on the manga series of the same name, “Chaser Game W” is a love story between two women, Fuyu and Itsuki played by Yuuka Sugai and Yurika Nakamura. Fuyu and Itsuki were in a romantic relationship during their time at university. However, due to certain reasons, Itsuki ended the relationship, which caused Fuyu to harbor resentment towards her. This led Fuyu to making unreasonable demands that Itsuki felt compelled to meet, as she was Fuyu’s boss. Nonetheless, it’s often said that if there are still feelings involved, no amount of bitterness can erase them. This dynamic unfolds beautifully in the show, and I enjoyed witnessing their reunion and the rekindling of their feelings.Read the complete article here-

Oxin Film's Best Selling Pinoy BL Yet!
This is a classic. When it first arrived on the stage in 2020, it was quite notable. In a sense, it was refreshingly different because it dealt with more adult content. However, it is a roller coaster of a series, honestly. This is one of those series that everyone will profess to dislike but secretly love. It is a guilty pleasure for sure.On balance, this series is messy, cringe worthy, and sometimes makes no sense. But is so much fun to watch! The cinematography is quite good, with its nice settings and realistic environments. The wardrobes they wore were first-rate and are just stunning on these guys and greatly enhanced their natural charisma and charm. The music (which honestly, I rarely notice in series) was very good especially the theme song. But I am getting ahead of myself.

Wasn't Worth the Effort and Time
The only thing that drew me to this reality show was the constant buzz on our website. Readers have constantly flocking to the “Season One Review”, maybe in the hopes that they might find something connected to the sequel. I wanted to know what all this buzz was about. Even though, our team member who reviewed Season One warned me against it, I still decided to give this show a chance. Presumably, I was surprised but also disappointed. While the show doesn’t dare to draw comparison to the recently concluded popular dating shows like “His Man”, “Sparks Camp” or even “The Boyfriend”, it is definitely missing the uniqueness that would set it apart from them. Hosted by Vinci Wong, who is also the producer of “Boyscation Too”, this LGBTQ+ dating reality show is set against the stunning backdrop of Bali and features a diverse cast of participants from Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.Read the complete article here-

Could Have Been Slightly Better
The Taiwanese BL First Note of Love ventures into the universal experience of loss and healing, using music as its emotional language. Led by Charles Tu as Neil and Michael Chang as Sea, the series introduces two characters whose lives converge by chance but are bound by shared dreams and mutual healing. Neil, once an idol, left the stage after his brother Matt’s untimely death. Sea, a budding musician, admires Neil’s former band Magnet, longing to mirror its success. Through this journey, they find solace in each other while piecing together fragments of their dreams.Music in First Note of Love serves as more than a backdrop; it captures the essence of emotions too complex to articulate. The story presents music as a force that empowers yet exposes vulnerability. It’s a voice of courage for Neil, who faces the paralyzing fear of stepping into the spotlight alone. For Sea, music represents a dream he’s yet to fully realize, which is ignited by his admiration for Neil’s former band. Together, they’re drawn into a world of harmonies, grappling with the inner turmoil of grief, self-doubt, and healing.

Not So Good, Not So Bad!!
This series is best described by the beginning line from Charles Dickens novel, “A Tale of Two Cities”: “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times.” In other words, this story had such salient and poignant moments in it and then it slipped into cartoonish and hackneyed over-the-top silliness, not worthy of the story. It almost seemed schizophrenic in nature. No matter how hard I tried, however, I simply could not dislike this series. Perhaps I became enamored with the two main protagonists’ love story and conveniently then ignored the rest of it. Honestly, this could have been a great series and to some extent, it showed promise. But then there was always something that made it crash and burn.

A Taboo Romance with an Edge!
I was thunderstruck by the theme of this series. It is a story in an anthology labeled “Club Friday”. Its content is one I have never seen before and certainly involves a very controversial topic. If they had been more adult about its fruition and handled it like a ruminative production, this would and could have been up there as the Best BL for 2024. However, in my opinion, they lacked the courage to push the envelope here to make it more consequential.Guy (Aon Kasama) lives with his mother, Rin (Yuyee Alissa Intusmith). Guy, a handsome young college student, had a flirtation with a friend of his named Kem (Tae Chayapat). He had been fearful of telling his mother that he is gay. His mother has become a successful businesswoman and developed an advantageous working relationship with a small company whose president is Got (Lift Supoj). One look at him and Guy seems to be smitten by him. Got, an older distinguished looking man, senses that Guy is attracted to him. While Got has never seriously acted on his gay impulses before, he seems to be drawn to Guy as well and uses Rin to get closer to Guy. He manipulates both Rin and Guy into believing that he is in love with both.

The Most Heartwarming Romance Ever
Sometimes, the greatest strength in life comes from the special connections we build with others, especially in those quiet moments when we realize just how much simple gestures like saying “good morning” or “welcome home” truly matter. In the Japanese BL Sugar Dog Life, the journey of finding that special connection is explored in depth. A Angsty Romance with Dark Undertones!
The end. Two words. Sometimes sad, sometimes happy, and sometimes left open to interpretation.Yet, all of them are endings.
Adapted from the manga series Happy of the End by Ogeretsu Tanaka, Keito/Haoren (Sawamura Rei) and Kashiwagi Chihiro (Beppu Yurai) are both broken men whose only experiences with “love” have been through abuse, rejection, and pain.
Their life together begins at “the end.” It’s as if both men are merely existing, waiting for the inevitable, even after they find each other.
Each comes from different circumstances. Chihiro has been raised in a world that rejects him because he’s gay. He’s been beaten down by the love he desperately tries to cling to, until he believes he’s worth little more than the garbage he steals. Keito, on the other hand, is raised in a world of abuse and anonymity, one that has stripped him of his identity, his body, and his heart.

OffGun Magic Saves the Day Again!!
“The Trainee” is a lighthearted BL series featuring OffGun in prominent roles. The series revolves around internships, careers, and personal growth. It follows the story of Ryan, Tae, Pie, Pah, and Ba-Mhee, recent college graduates who meet at an internship interview at GoodPick. Gun Atthaphan plays the character of Ryan, who is unsure about which company to choose for his internship. After listening to the advice of his close friend, he decides to apply for an internship at Goodpick. He gets selected as an intern in the Assistant Director department, where he meets Jane (Off Jumpol), his supervisor. Jane is strict but kind-hearted. Despite being strict, he teaches Ryan to be more open and brave in making decisions. The chemistry between Off and Gun is wonderful, and they are very comfortable with each other. Pie starts as a stiff and almost like a loner character, but as the series continues, her character becomes softer, more jolly, and open. She is a very talented character and View Benyapa did a great job playing “Pie”. Finally, let’s talk about our adorable couple, Tae and Ba-Mhee.Read the complete article here-
