All because of the Male Lead
The storyline had a few holes and wasted opportunities for both the characters and the plot itself. I'm learning NOT to rely solely on reviews and comments in the discussions, and I am glad I overlooked many of the negative ones and stayed with the series to the end. Each story arc was neatly tied up (even if the premises were a little lame) and even though not everybody got their Karma, I guess it didn't take away from the overall story. This is where the writers come in. If they don't keep tight control over the story they are trying to tell, the actors cannot do the drama justice. The reason I watched this and stayed with it was Luo Zheng. He is such a feast for the eyes and is usually stereotyped in these emotionless, stone-faced CEO roles. However, he really did a good job in this one. He does arrogance so well - and the gamut of emotions he portrayed was so moving to watch. The pain in his eyes when she left him, even the psycho-stalking was believable. I like that he can show his emotions, whatever they are in the story - and I always take a second look when he is a main character in a drama.
I liked He Rui Xian in her role too. I liked her a lot in Warm on a Cold Night, and the chemistry between the ML & her was sweet. I wish they had done a little more with her character and had her (and her ridiculous mother) develop and grow a little more. I also would have liked for her to grow with the ML's character as well. She needed some growth and change too. But as I said, I loved their chemistry.
Would I rewatch? Maybe not, but I did enjoy the drama. I think anyone who likes these actors should decide for themselves and not buy into the negatives too much. Remember - it isn't real-life, it's fiction.

Love with your heart, not with your eyes.
Evan Lin carried this drama. his portrayal of Su Nan Qin was almost perfect. Of course, everyone loves a happy ending, so his regaining his sight was a necessary evil, but I think the couple could have been happy if he didn't. The relationship between the ML & FL was sweet in parts, amusing in parts, but also a little disjointed too. As a psych major, Sang Wu Yan couldn't figure things out, but relied on Xiao Lu to analyze Nan Qin's actions? Sure - she could provide information about his past - but a psych major should have had more insight, in my opinion. There were a lot of plot holes - which did not detract from the actual story but left the viewer with unresolved arcs. The flow of storylines did not seem organized. Just bits and pieces thrown in - Cheng Yin's death and 'ghost' appearance and then sudden goodbye; the various male characters (blind dates and Peng Rui Xing's roles) seemed to have little bearing in the story. Nan Qin's father and stepmother's backstories and why he hated her so much. Xiao Lu's relationship with Nan Qin was basically undeveloped.
The couples: Much as I liked the ML & FL characters - there was something missing in their romance. It was apparent that the FL was not into the romantic scenes at all. In a romance drama, the kissing scenes should at least be realistic or feel that way to the viewer. It was apparent that the FL did not want to do intimate scenes, and that kind of spoiled the feel of the romance for me. The second couple had no chemistry at all. Their characters were even less appealing and unfortunately, did nothing for the story and I could not connect with them at all.
The premise of the ML finding growth, love and healing was appealing to me. I appreciated the FL's character not being a shallow, giggling ninny. She really had a depth of character and strong will - and I like that portrayal of Chinese women. No delusional obsession, no petulant foot-stamping when she can't her own way, no silly behaviour, and no childish outfits and accessories - but wearing appropriate, grown-up clothing.
I might rewatch this if I wanted a series to kill some time - because I really quite liked Evan Lin's acting - and he is so very easy on the eyes too. He really earned the rating I gave this drama. I hope to see him in future dramas.

Writers make or break a drama - and they broke this one.
The storyline of this drama started out like any other revenge plot. Along came the amnesia trope. And then again. Overkill? Definitely. The anger of the ML's character and his quest for revenge was all-encompassing and controlling. And yet, when he could not fight his feelings for the FL's character, the change in him was torturous to watch. I read a lot of comments damning his character - his evilness, his cruelty, haters hated on him. However, the FL's character was not without serious flaws herself. She blinded herself to everything but her own hatred and desire for revenge. Both of these characters hated with ferocity and could have loved with the same passion and perhaps overcome their differences. What a tale that would have been!
The writer's ending: ML resigns himself to die by the FL's hand. He loves her anyway. FL dies before she can realize the truth of her own misjudgment and ignorance of trusting the wrong person (the real villain). Villain dies without punishment. Everybody dies. Two years later - what the hell was that!?
A more realistic ending: FL, as she lay dying in her ignorance of the real truth, should have been alive enough to hear the confession from the villain's lips. She crawls with her dying breath to ML and prove to the villain that it was him (ML) that she loved despite it all. No two year later fantasy that very few of the viewers were able to discern or understand.
What a wasted opportunity. Li Jiu Lin did a masterful job portraying the badly flawed, revenge driven survivor of his family's demise. Guan Chang was wasted on her character who was blinded by her own hatred and obsession with vengeance. Using the amnesia trope not once, but twice was a real waste of time. Their chemistry was sweet but doomed. The supporting characters were weak and under-developed. Even the villain Zi Chen seemed delusional and unhinged, and his sister was just the stereotypical spoiled brat. The General too, was a joke. This drama had potential, but the opportunity was squandered by poor writing and directing.
The reward for me (and several other viewers on the discussion boards) was the absolute smoking hotness of Li Jiu Lin in the love scenes. If not for that, I would not have given this drama as high a rating.

Sweet Love Story
Luo Yunxi & Bai Lu - what's not to love?! However, I did not watch this following their last collaboration (which I dropped because of the heavy angst). I love the pairing of these two actors. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they seem like they really enjoy collaborating! I digress. The storyline was interesting and not so draggy that I got bored. I watched all the scenes with the ML & FL, and with most of the other characters. I felt a mixture of outrage, anger, disappointment, pity, sadness for their stories. I read somewhere that the director wanted the actors to 'overact' and they did even that well. I liked this series very much.
The one character that I did fast-forward through was the best friend, Xu Li. OMG talk about annoying! Silly! Ridiculous! If I had a best friend (or any friend) like her, I'd be a hermit! Her character was the one I liked least of all, and they could have done without. Give that cute Riley Wang's character Li Xiao Chuan a girl with sense! In fairness however, when an actor plays a part well, the audience reacts to that character, so give Xiao Yan kudos for her performance.
I would definitely rewatch this for the moments of comedy, tragedy, and so much sweet romance. The kisses and PDA were definitely worth it!

A good way to reel us in
OK - I took the bait. I enjoyed this first season (not knowing it was a Season 1) but I got to know the leads and their backgrounds, enough to be interested. Hopefully Season 2 will be equally interesting and then I will be invested!I like the ML a lot - and the FL too. No simpering miss, this one, and she fell hard and fast for her man and wasn't afraid to show it, and to sacrifice all for him. But he loved her too - too much to risk her life. Just a sweet chemistry. The jury is still out regarding her 'sister' and his second-in-command... but they could develop into a couple as well.
The villain is your typical villain, and I would like to see him get his Karma in the Second season. So, on we go - and hope for more of the same quality in both story and acting. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long.

Surprisingly entertaining with a couple of exceptions
After a while the outcomes became predictable, and the plot repetitive. However, I did enjoy the little storylines and how Jian solved the mystery. The interactions between the characters were very entertaining, and I wish that there could have been more development of the individuals and their relationships. Unfortunately, 24 episodes don't allow for that and that was a waste of a potentially good long story.I liked the understated love story of the ML & FL - their chemistry was a bit of a slow burn but was there. I wish the second couple could have had their happen ending as well - and we might have had a third couple if the drama was longer. Alas, too many possibilities in too little time. The only reason I gave this drama such a high rating was the performance of the actors.
The ending was very unfulfilling. In fact, I stopped short of the 'big reveal' that would have left me scratching my head and wondering what just happened! Without the indication of a continuation, that was pretty lousy after getting invested in the main character. Having read the reviews and gotten a heads-up about the ending, I was able to quit watching as they rode off into the sunset together - the last 4 characters. I can honestly say I won't re-watch this unless there is a second season and I need to refresh my memory.

So much potential - wasted.
Like other reviews, I agree that this story had the potential to be much better than it turned out to be. The cast was pretty good - the chemistry between the ML & FL was sweet. For these short episode formats the writers need to keep the story focused and tight so that everything ties up neatly at the end. This one wrapped like they had run out of time with a wink and a nod. Loopholes all over the place, unanswered questions. Sloppy storytelling. Not worth the rewatch, and an underwhelming OST. Aside from the likeable characters this series has nothing else to offer.

He could be my pet any time!
Cute, light rom-com. Easy watching for the weekend. Loved the ML. I had not heard of him before but will watch out for other shows he's done. I like him. Chemistry between him and the FL was believable - who wouldn't fall in love with that innocent face. The other characters were cute too - and everybody pretty much interacted well - no vicious plots or nasty alliances.Nice if you want a happy ending, although there was a little nail-biter there for a minute. A couple of loopholes, but for the kind of show this is it didn't hurt the production in any way. I came away feeling satisfied and happy with the way things ended. Wish we could have seen a little more of the happy ending, but hey - I'll take what I can get!

Watch if you want to kill some time
I liked the actors a lot, and the chemistry between the characters worked. I was sad about the meaningless deaths - too many for my liking. There were some holes in the storylines and unresolved arcs which I think should have been addressed or closed out. Too much time spend on slow-mo shots and actions, which pushed me to fast-forward through a lot of scenes. I didn't even care if I missed something.Didn't care for the OST at all.
If you're just looking for something light to fill the time, give it a go. I liked that the ML & FL are a couple in real-life. Wish there had been more happy endings in this drama, but unfortunately, no - and so many unanswered questions.

I'm lost in 'time'
I should start by saying that Xianxia is not my thing. However, I read the reviews and they were pretty positive; plus, the cast of actors was appealing too. So, for the most part, I have no regrets. It was difficult to follow the timelines sometimes, but that was not really a deterrent.I like Xu Kai, love Liu Xue Yi, and Leon Lai. The FL was ok in her role - but looked a little young for a 'Chief God' - and I really wasn't convinced of her development from carefree, silly girl to bad-ass God. The supporting actors were pretty good too - the evil ones really did a good job, especially the Heavenly Queen and her bitchy, overindulged daughter. Liked the romances along the way and wished that everybody could have had a happy resolution, but I guess that's how it goes - you win some and you lose some. The fate of alter ego lovers Qing Mu and Hou Chi was heart wrenchingly sad but so beautifully done, and acted out by the ML & FL. The OST was hauntingly beautiful too.
Overall, it was a good watch, but I don't think I would rewatch simply because of the genre, and I found myself fast-forwarding through a lot of the war scenes and 'cultivating' scenes. I did have a hard time following the time lapses and figuring out how the lifespans play out: who live forever, who reincarnate, who die, and how those processes work in that world.

A lot of holes in the story, but I liked it anyway
The acting was great in this series. The ML & FL carried the whole thing! She was strong but not bossy and overbearing. He was just plain gorgeous, and his facial expressions were tender, amusing, wicked... that was fun to watch, but also heart-wrenching when he showed his anguish. I felt it too! The interaction between the characters was great - I love the ensemble acting, especially when there is chemistry there too.Big letdown was the number of holes in the storylines. Too many to name them all, but the writers could have tied up and cleaned up much better than they did. Lazy? Or they just didn't care after a while. Whatever it was, they didn't do a good series any justice. We were left hanging for more than a couple of characters - and so many scenes were unnecessarily drawn out to waste time. And not enough Karma for the 'bad guys'.
The biggest letdown was that ending! What the hell was that about!? Dismal writing - they took a pretty good storyline and dumped it in the trash. Maybe the writers should have put a disclaimer so the viewers would know what they were thinking, instead of leaving us all out here making endings up. Shame on you!
Don't think I would watch it again - too many episodes for too little reward, and too many holes in the story!!! BUT - I am a fan of Yang Mi & Ethan Juan from now on!

Viewers deserved a better final episode
After investing time on 60 episodes of what was a pretty good story with great acting, likeable (and hateable) characters, the most disappointing thing about this drama was the way they ended the series. Whether they ran out of time, ran out of good ideas, or just plain didn't care about how it would affect the loyal viewers, that last scene was ridiculous and senseless and grossly unsatisfying. That being said, the ML & FL rocked in their roles. Loved the FL - very loveable (not so much in the first few episodes though). I started watching this series and dropped it, then came back after my sister highly recommended it. Loved the chemistry between the military characters, some of the royal family, and even though there was more tragedy than I liked throughout, I think the actors all did a phenomenal job of work. Enjoyed the humor, the familial bonds, and the side romances - although I think they deserved a little more screen time and development.
A lot of time was wasted on the politics - the petty bickering in the court, and on the immature frivolity of some of the male characters in particular. The writers tried to tie up all the stories, but there were still a lot of holes and storylines left hanging. The segments were choppy and did not flow well. Maybe if I rewatch I might see something(s) I might have missed.
The crappy way they ended the story really spoiled an otherwise entertaining series. The viewer is left to imagine their own series of events and guess what might or might not have happened. Assuming everybody ended up with who we wanted them to end up, it would have been nice to actually see what transpired through flashbacks or narrative, instead on two old geezers we don't know with two kids we don't know, making vague chatter.

The Hero & The Moron
What a disappointing production! And what the heck was that ending? I must have fallen asleep and missed something, but I didn't!If the character Tao Mo was supposed to be naive and simple-minded, that would have been kind. He was a moron! I couldn't even like the character. Gu She was convincing and probably the character I liked the most, but I just couldn't get any chemistry.
I had hopes for this storyline, being controversial and with great potential. Unfortunately, it didn't deliver.
The reviews were so positive and promising - and I'm wondering if I watched the wrong series because it didn't come close to anything that I read.
I absolutely would never watch this again.

Not the best series I've seen, but I managed to enjoy it anyway.
There were quite a few loopholes and some pointless plotlines, but I think the actors did a great job in their roles. I got attached to a few of the characters, and really despised some of the others. But even with some of the villains, you got to see the softer side of them too.I liked that many of the storylines got tied up neatly - but some were a little vague and left hanging. But for the most part, there was continuity with the episodes, and I didn't feel lost from one to the next. It did get a little draggy in parts, so I fast-forwarded through quite a bit of those parts.
I was disappointed in the lack of romance, even though there were several couples whose stories I was following with great interest. Unfortunately, there was very little chemistry between the ML & FL, but I liked them anyway. This actress did nothing f or her character - her facial expressions were really blank most of the time. It was only in the last episode as she professes her love that she seems emotional. And wow! I waited long and hard for the one kiss in the very end.
Not a series I would rewatch - because there weren't a lot of scenes that were worth looking at again. Still, I did enjoy the series. I like these long dramas because I can always find something to hold my interest.

Vigilantes (but not too many masks)
This drama was just ok. I really liked the chemistry between the 4 main characters. The character development was interesting, although the stories got a little ridiculous at times (Hu Ge's story with his daughter and ex. What a mess!). But it all tied up in the end when ML brought everybody together to fight the good fight (not too much action there) but we got the story. That emperor was a dope! Everybody was more enlightened than him. And I wish the villains had gotten more fitting Karma, but oh well!Even though I watch these dramas for the romance, this one didn't deliver much of that, so I was disappointed. There was obviously chemistry between Li Ge Xiao & Yan San Niang (more than between he and his first wife). However, watching their relationship develop was rewarding too. (Did they really have to kill off his Master? I didn't think so.)
Overall, this was an entertaining series. I gave it an 8 because of the cast and the great job they did. When you despise the villains as much as I hated the ones in this, you know the actors did a stellar job. When you like the good guys as much as I did, then those actors did a good job too.
