A thriller with a gripping story and grey characters
The show which looks it is gonna be some romantic cliche stuff turns into dark gritty thriller. The actors both main and side have nailed their roles. The best part of the story is that no one is good but all have their evils and demons that slowly unravel with each episode.
FL is a girl and all she ever wanted was to perform and be loved by others but just because of her face was instead mocked and ignored by the society. Just when things couldn't get worse she meets people only used and hurt her, the only girl who ever befriended her and cherished her died in her arms.
The show also shedded light on the beauty standards that are set by the world not just in korea but everywhere. If you are a girl having a perfect physique with doll like looking features, you are cherished and loved but if you are just some average looking with a lot of talent you are still ignored until you end up going under the knife and turning into one. The same happened with her. Till the moment she died, all she ever saw was misery and pain be it because of her own actions or others.
Atleast she was finally able to see her daughter even if it was for once.
A good love story with less cliche shit
One of the most mature relationships I have seen in C dramas so far. Instead of dragging issues, misunderstandings and blaming each other for it they just sit down, talk about it and fix it . That is what a good healthy relationship is supposed to be and both the characters played their part quite nice.FL wasn't some damsel in distress waiting for some prince charming but rather a strong independent woman who could deal with her problems be it professional or personal. ML turned from a guy who isn't fond of committing to a good doting boyfriend who only sees FL in this world. From being strangers to friends to teasing to a healthy relationship and finally the proposal it was really beautiful.
FL's sister Xinzi too went from being in a toxic relationship to a painful breakup to finding love again was actually a good relatable story that many girls go through. Instead of just continuing a relationship with a possessive and insecure boyfriend which could have gotten way worse with time, she ended it no matter how much it hurt as she knew it was for the better and thank god they didn't show the ex bf as some violent and parasitic guy who ends up kidnapping her (which usually happens in mostly C dramas) but rather a guy who knows he has problems and needs to deal with it.
Overall from start to end a nice show with less cliche shit
A good rom com story but lacks the chemistry between the leads.
I enjoyed the webtoon and the drama did manage to live up to it too a good extent. The cast was good and each member did justice to heir character.
Honestly when I heard Jeong Seo being casted for the role, I was quite skeptical of whether she can pull of the role as most of her roles till now had nothing to do with rom-com stuff but she for sure impressed me.
The drama is good, lighthearted and humorous. It is quite different from the cliche romcom dramas and also manages to shed light on topics of how LGBTQ folks live and are treated in a country where it is still not openly accepted.
The chemistry between the leads is lukewarm. It just didn't feel organic or warm or sizzling . Maybe due to the casting or execution but it was a letdown.
It started with a good pace but went a little draggy in its last episodes. Overall it is a good one time watch.
Sometimes Fates can be way worse than Death.
The show and the cast did total justice to the webtoon. Each and every character was played so well you do end up feeling all the emotions they wanted us to feel, from sympathy to hatred. The show sheds light on many dark topics that exist in our society and shows the monstrous side of humans.Park So Dam's comeback as the entity "Death" was a damn killer. She nailed it with her gothic vibe, cold and mysterious swag.
There were moments where it felt that the emotional development could have been done more like in the case of police inspector and the little girl one but otherwise there were moments which brought tears to my eyes like Yi Jae realizing the pain he ended up giving his mom by killing himself and then living as her watching all the pain and suffering she went through before and after he was born was so hard hitting.
Damn I felt so satisfied with the fate of KimJi Hoon, dude was evil to the core and deserved fate worse than death which he got. Live the rest of his life rotting and wishing for death. KJH really knows how to pull psychopaths off and make everyone hate his characters.
I hoped for a more concluding ending rather than just a 5 sec clip. After all the pain, trauma and self realization he went through I really wanted to see the ending being a happy moment of reunion between him and his mother or Ji Soo.
Overall the show had a stellar star cast and an engaging story which will keep you on the edge. Hell of a start for 2024 with this show.
A Wholesome and Sweet Love story with two gorgeous leads.
A wholesome love story without unnecessary crap added to it. No love triangles and no misunderstandings just two mature people loving and cherishing each other to the fullest. Both ML/FL were pure green flags and had utmost respect for each other and their professions. Never complained about it but only motivated each other to do better.
Yang Yang and Dilraba were the perfect casting and the chemistry between them wasn't intense but soothing and sweet as it should be for their characters.
The show's ost was quite beautiful and matched the shows vibe entirely.
If you are bored with the cliched love triangle dramatic love stories that you see in most of the C dramas then this is the show for you.
The cliche trope rides high on the strong chemistry between the leads
The show won't bring you something out of the box or something that you haven't seen before but what makes the show a good watch is the strong chemistry of the leads. The show has many cliche moments but won't feel cringey . Another good thing was that the entire past life trope not dragged which many shows often do.Song Kang as a charming and narcissistic demon was the perfect cast and so was the Kim Yoo Jung as the feisty nutjob Do Do Hee. The chemistry between them was top notch since the first episode. Their relationship arcs was quite fun too watch and was the strongest point of the show.
Kim Tae Hoon as Noh Sok Min did one phenomenal job as one ruthless and cold businessman. Kim Seung Ho as one psychotic teen did just a good job. Even though it was his first time main stream acting, he did total justice to his character. He impresses me the most and was the dark horse of the show.
The show is a good time one time watch if you are looking for some Human - Entity relationship dramas.
Shin Hye Sun is the Queen of the kingdom and Acting
The story is funny, chaotic, emotional and engaging. It will make you laugh out loud so many times during the messy situations FL keeps ending up in. There wasn't a moment where the story felt dragged or unnecessary. Each and every member of the cast did their job well depicting their characters but the star of the show would be Shin Hye Sun.She has proven again why she is one of the most versatile actresses. Be it humor or emotional, she nails each and every scene. She managed to show a man in a woman's body so smoothly that it does make you believe the character.
Her sweet yet chaotic loves story with the king. Knowing that the person king fell in love with is actually a dude and FL having conflicting feelings at first regarding this is quite fun to watch as to king this just a normal love between a man and woman but for FL it is pretty much being gay. Both of them went from fighting each other to fighting for each other and the entire journey was beautiful.
I would say it is a must watch whether you are Shin Hye sun fan or not. You won't be bored at all while watching this.
Cheong Ah and Yi Chan steal the show
A heart warming drama full of cute, fluffy, comedic, chaotic and emotional moments. You will feel butterflies for the cute romance that brews, get teary eyed during the emotional moments of the characters and hate the guts off the evil ones. The entire cast be it the leads or the supporting ones nailed their roles. The star of the show would be Eun Soo as her acting of a deaf and mute Cheong Ah touched hearts. She was phenomenal not just with the sign language but with emotions she showed through her eyes of a girl who is only looking for some affection which she never got. Girl didn't even have to say a word to bring tears to the eyes of the viewers.
Hyun Wook as the chaotic and dramatic Yi Chan started off as annoying brat whose only goal is to impress his crush grew on to become the greenest flag. A boy who became the light in the dark world of a poor traumatized girl and changed it to something beautiful, bright and vibrant world. Be it his comedic timings or his cute fluffy chemistry with Eun Soo or his loud and chaotic yet sweet relationship with Ryeoun, everything was done extremely well.
Ryeoun certainly knows how to pull off both comedic and emotional moments extremely well. His emotional confrontation with his father in E1 or meeting and saving his mom in the past, these moments were enough to get eyes teary. Seol In Ah was charming as ever, she still looks like a teenager in a uniform.
I would say the show is a must watch if you want to go for some 90s themed cute high school kdrama.
One of the most wholesome shows ever made
The show gives you everything and makes you feel many emotions from laughing to crying, happiness to sadness, adoring to hating.......Both the lead couples nailed it with their chemistry and story arcs. Till the last moment everyone prayed and hopes that none of them end up separated as they have already gone through so much and the ending surely didn't disappoint.
For me Kim Go Eun as Eun Tak was the soul of the show, she nailed being a teenager and the grown up stage. No wonder she is by far one of the best actresses in the South Korea. Gong Yoo as always needs no introduction on how good he is and has been in every genre.
Lee Dong Wook's and Yoo Inna's suited so well with each other. Him being a cold grim reaper and her being a extroverted and fiesty chick nailed it. LDW's character growth and his newborn friendship with Euntak was too wholesome.
Kim Ji Eun and Park Solomon's drama is a breath of fresh air in this cliche trope of Body Swapping
The show from start to end is engaging, chaotic, mysterious, humorous and even dark at some points making the viewers curious on what will happen next. This isn't you cliche romantic stuff where the leads swap their bodies and fall in love later on but more about two extremely opposite people with each having their own secrets, motives and ambitions.FL's character isn't some damsel in distress but one strong, cold, bossy, ruthless and arrogant wolf who is ready to go through hell and even put others through it to get the job done. ML's character is a loud, chaotic sometimes childish guy who works under the FL and often faces the brunt of her actions. Both of their arcs end up getting interconnected with each learning to work with the Swap and at the same time going ahead to achieve their own motives.
The best part of the drama is that romance isn't forced down the throat of viewers but is kept subtle while keeping the main focus on the mystery and thrill factor of the show.
The cast especially the leads have nailed their roles. Both did justice to their own and each other's characters too. I would say it is a must watch if you are looking for something new.
Park Min Young's comeback is strong and striking
A really good adaptation of a webtoon into a drama . From the start to end, the drama was engaging. The drama will make you feel for the characters be it hatred or sympathy, love or disgust. Each and every cast member played their part extremely well be it the main leads or side characters or the antagonist.PMY's comeback was phenomenal. After facing such a turbulent time in her life for past year where many expected her career to go down the hill, she bounced back with a stellar drama and took her spot back.
For me the star of the show is "Song Ha Yoon". She absolutely nailed her role and showed off her versatility. Hell I even forgot she is the same girl from the drama "Fighting For My Way". As much as I liked her character in that drama, I did end up hating her a lot in this one. She managed to do the same what Lim Ji Yeon did in "The Glory". So kudos to her.
Lee Yi Kyung's " Gwenchana Gwenchana" ain't working in this drama what his acting sure is. Dude played the role of a sleezy asshole extremely well.
The show is a worth spending time on if you are looking for some good and satisfying revenge drama.
This drama rides solely on the chemistry between the leads
The drama has a warm and fluffy story that has been shown many times in C dramas before. The story isn't something new or too interesting but is watchable all thanks to the leads chemistry and the little cutie who is the icing on the cake.Miles Wei playing the same type of CEO who starts cold but warms up later on. He has played this type of CEO character in so many dramas so nothing new in this at all while Hu Yi Xuan certainly did well with her role. Gonna have to give credit to the boy who plays ML's son for doing really well with his role at such a young age.
It is a good one time watch if you are a fan of the actors.
A good hit but not a home run
They literally managed to make korean version of an already world famous show that doesn't look like some low grade knock off but is actually a good show. The story was engaging and keeps you on the edge as they changed quite a lot of stuff from the original show be it the character arcs or their backstories. The only letdown for me was that the characters in the show, I could never make the emotional connection with the characters as it happened with the original. The characters of the robbers weren't that memorable too that you would talk about them even after the show is completed. If you go for the OG one , the wild, feisty and sometimes self destructive Tokyo or the cold and psychotic Berlin or the bossy and matriarchy loving Nairobi or Denver's weird laughter or Professor's voice, swag and his glasses flick. There were many memorable characters that people still talk cuz they had a long lasting impression, something that this show missed.
Otherwise it is a damn good show which doesn't looks draggy but thrilling till the end.
Quite Cliche and Predictable but Sweet
The story of the show ain't something new but the same cliche contract marriage drama trope which has been used so many times in so many shows. The same CEO and poor Cindrella marrying each other for their own benefits and the same jealous second leads who will try to ruin their relationship but in the end get rejected and go home. Though the story is predictable but is sweet and cheesy enough to make it work and not look cringey,The one and probably the only strongest point of the show is the couple's chemistry. The leads were the perfect casting for it and it shows in every scene they are together. The supporting cast has done their job really well too. I would say my favorite character would be the ML's grandma.
It is a good watch if you are looking for some cliche romantic love story stuff.
Sometimes too cheesy but still a good watch
Saw the show after hearing so much hype around it and it certainly didn't disappoint. From the action to the story arcs, everything was well executed. There were moments where it felt a little dragged and sometimes to cheesy but overall was a good watch. The humor was quite on point and gave some really good memorable moments, be it the dance during the idol concert or trying to stop the girls from opening the parcel.
The show gives you all you need from an army based show and tells about all the sacrifices the soldiers make to protect the country and their loved ones.
Song- Song couple might not be together in real life but for sure will remain one of the best onscreen ones till now. SJK as a soldier and SHK as a doctor were perfect casting. I was skeptical at first regarding SJK playing an army officer as he doesn't really has that stature but he did justice to his character.
KimJiWon as always nailed the character and her love story arc with JinGoo was cherry on cake. Her being a feisty and extroverted girl while him being calm and composed. Both helped each other grow and face problems together instead of running away.
The show's ost was quite good too and matched well with the vibe os the show and characters.
