Japanese cinema 1950s golden age

I used to watch just about anything I found in the public library from 1950s Japanese cinema (plus or minus who knows how many years). My memories of this are a few directors' names and some visual images. A still posted from Ugetsu reminded me that I mean to get back to finding them again. I know I've seen that one but I don't remember anything other than recognising images.

If anyone happens onto this list and is a fan of that period or particular movies, please get in touch. Someone to talk about them with is just the thing I need :)
