Many unwanted elements.
This my first ever review from this profile and I especially wanted it to be "The Judge from Hell" since I followed this drama while on air every week.Note: This review is not to discourage anyone from watching this drama . Personally I gave this a try since I liked PSH's Dr.Slump and this was airing at that time.
First ,I would like the summarize what I liked about this drama first before my critics or ranting:
1. Park Shin Hye acting - Imho she pretty much carries this drama with her performance. Considering that she got majority of screen time, I would argue that she justified her role and hooked me into watching this drama.
2. First 8 Episodes - Keeping aside the fantasy setting, the first 8 episodes were really interesting, which shows ruthless or how much evil the each criminals were and how they were punished, which was really satisfying to be honest.
3. I really liked the Music in this Drama, though it was a bit dramatic at times.
Now onto the my rants:
As mentioned in the tittle "Many unwanted elements" :
1. The Romance plot was very forced. There were no hints that the ML is interested in the FL for 8 or so episodes then suddenly push a dire situation on to the leads to force Romance. Forcing romance like this is not the best option to bring emotional changes to a character.
2. I am sorry to say this but the ML went on from being persistent cop to a Damsel in distress in the later half of the show. They made his character slow witted just so the FL can save him from dire situation and force the romance plot.
3. The Criminals shown in the first 8 episodes even with limited screen time were more interesting than the main villain of the Drama, who I found very weak whatsoever he did.
4. The plot was all over the place during the last 4 episodes and there were too many plot conveniences just to conclude on a happy note. But I would rather have bittersweet or sad ending with no loose ends.
5. Apart from 1 or 2, the supporting cast was not memorable along with the ML.
That pretty much wraps up my review or rant about this Drama which pretty easily engaged me with its initial episodes and let me down at the end.
Personally I would rate 8/10 for the first 8 episodes and 5.5/10 for 9-14 episodes.

A GRIPPING DARK FANTASY THRILLER.....
"Judge from Hell" is a captivating fantasy dark thriller that takes viewers on an exhilarating journey through moral complexities and intense confrontations. The story centers around Justilia, a demon judge who finds herself on Earth as punishment, tasked with eliminating murderers before she can return to Hell. Taking over the body of Judge Kang BITNa, Justilia's mission unfolds in a gripping narrative that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
The plot is expertly paced, drawing viewers in with its engaging storyline. Justilia's interactions with Detective Han Danho, a man burdened by a tragic past yet committed to his principles, create a fascinating clash of personalities. Their contrasting views on justice add depth to the narrative, making it even more compelling and thought-provoking.
A standout feature of this drama is its morally grey female lead. Justilia is a badass character whose journey is both thrilling and reflective, challenging viewers to consider the nature of justice. The introduction of various victims, each with unique stories, allows for a diverse range of perpetrators to be punished, adding layers to the narrative. The punishments themselves are a highlight, executed in a tit-for-tat manner that is both satisfying and potentially violent. Watching the villains experience the same pain they inflicted on their victims, both psychologically and physically, is a gripping aspect of the story that keeps viewers engaged.
The casting is exceptional, not only with Park Shin Hye as Kang BITNa/Justilia, who delivers a performance that is nothing short of brilliant, but also with the male lead, whose portrayal is impressive for a first-time lead role. He truly owns his character, bringing depth and charisma to the screen. The guest roles for the various villains deserve special mention as well; the actors and actresses playing these despicable characters are so convincing that it makes their punishments feel even more deserved and exciting.
The acting throughout the series is strong, with every cast member showcasing their talent. Park Shin Hye shines with her facial expressions, cold smirks, and overall performance, making it clear that she is fully committed to this role. The male lead stands out in his own right, and the villains display amazing, believable acting that adds to the drama's intensity.
The handling of the romance in "Judge from Hell" is also commendable. Unlike many thrillers that struggle to balance romance with the main plot, this drama integrates the romantic elements seamlessly. The romance feels like a natural extension of the story, contributing to character development and moving the plot forward rather than detracting from it. The chemistry between the leads enhances this aspect, making their relationship a vital part of the narrative.
Despite its dark and serious themes, the show manages to insert moments of comedy, providing a nice balance. The background music and original soundtracks are catchy and enhance the viewing experience.
Overall, "Judge from Hell" is a drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat, with no boring episodes. It draws you in with its exceptional storytelling, diverse and interesting characters, amazing and flawless acting, and a perfectly paced storyline. This makes it one of the best fantasy thrillers this year, if not in a while.

It’s not a masterpiece
The production felt underwhelming despite SBS’s efforts, with a script that struggled to stay engaging and special effects that fell short of impressive. The revenge scenes and Kang Bit Na’s so-called “execution” lacked real impact and felt hollow. While the villains tried to appear despicable, they came off as one-dimensional, and the actors’ performances didn’t bring much depth. Even the smaller roles, like the journalist and the victims, were forgettable and didn’t add much to the story.
One aspect some viewers might appreciate—though I found it overly simplified—is the message that humans can be more cruel than demons. However, this concept felt forced and didn’t resonate emotionally. The dramatic shift in atmosphere after Kim So Yeong’s death and the hunt for J and Satan seemed disconnected and didn’t add much suspense. Kim Jae Young’s portrayal of Han Da On was unconvincing, and the supposed transformation in his character lacked any real intensity or depth.

“God is so cruel. God listens to all your prayers but doesn’t grant them all.” – Kang
Best K drama in 2024 so far . After Memories of Alhambra , Pinocchio , this is my 3rd drama of Park shin Hye and again I am not disappointed by her . This is a thrilling fantasy mystery drama with slightly romance . Thank God one of my friend recommended this drama that's why I have not missed this awesome series . This is really " The Judge from the hell " .( 。•ㅅ•。 )Disclaimer - This is my personal opinion from my own feelings . This review may contain spoilers . Thank You . Go ahead .
OVERVIEW -
This story is centred about Judge Kang Bitna ( played by Park Shin Hye ) . So this series started from Judge Justica who accidently made a wrong judgement and was punished . She ended up in Kang Bitna's body . She had to kill 10 murderers and sent thm to helll within a year . There was a character of detective named Han Daon who firstly discovered Justica . Both of them believed there was definitely justice in this world for good people . Characters of them were completely different from each other . Han Daon was a serious but silly and clingy to Kang Bitna . There was a slight bit of romance which was far more better than most of the romance dramas . every music of this drama is so good . ♛
POSITIVE -
Excellent cinematography with perfect visuals . Acting was top level . There were mystery , faith , God , demon , and many more interesting themes . And the most interesting point was this drama was kinda funny and it really felt good after some heavy plots . The writer , director , everyone did a great job . definitely my most favorite K drama in this year . This drama gives me Hotel Del Luna and Sweet Home vibes .
You Should Know -
There are so many viewers who don't like to watch blood , murder , criminals , dark themes etc etc so you should know this drama is full of thrills . If you don't like to watch these types of dramas then I can suggest you to watch at least one episode or previews of the episodes then decide .
OVERALL -
I gave this drama 9.5 out of 10 . I liked this drama because there were so many unique plots ,scenes with are absent in most of the traditional romance dramas . You might give it a try .( 。•ㅅ•。 )

Don't Go Looking for Romance!!
I can’t believe that it is over, I could watch Justita punish unrepentant criminals in her own crazy way forever! There are very few shows that manage to hold my attention till the very last and “The Judge from Hell” was one such gem. Starring Park Shin Hye in an eclectic role, the show focuses on Justita, the Demon Judge in Hell who specializes in punishing murderers. As the third most powerful Demon in Hell, she is arrogant, and terrifying. A slight mistake in judgment lands her in trouble as she is exiled to Earth where she has to kill 10 unrepentant murderers and send their souls to hell. Easy, right? Wrong, because while Justita is quite good at doing her job, nothing could have prepared for the earthly attachments that cripple her desire to return to hell. As Justita, Park Shin Hye gives an eccentric performance, portraying a demon who is bloodthirsty and yet justified in her deliverance. Despite the ensemble casting that forms the core of this show, Park Shin Hye grabs your attention from the get-go. It was entertaining watching her on a killing spree that is seemingly warranted. This show doesn’t hinge much on romance, so you will be disappointed if you are looking for a somber love story!

Fantastic story and acting
I absolutely loved the storyline of the movie. It was engaging and beautifully crafted, pulling me into its narrative from the very beginning. As I expected, both Park Shin-hye and Kim Jaehyung delivered outstanding performances that truly brought the characters to life.Park Shin-hye, in particular, showcased her incredible range as an actress. She effortlessly navigated through a myriad of emotions, conveying deep feelings with remarkable nuance and subtlety. Her ability to portray multiple emotions and expressions simultaneously is a testament to her immense talent; it's definitely not an easy feat. Each scene she was in felt authentic and compelling, allowing the audience to connect with her character on a profound level.
Kim Jaehyung also brought a unique charm and depth to his role, complementing Park Shin-hye’s performance beautifully. His acting was so convincing that, for a moment, I found myself believing that he was not just acting but genuinely portraying a police officer. The realism he brought to the character was remarkable, making his performance even more impactful. Together, they created a captivating dynamic that enriched the storyline even further.
Overall, their performances were a highlight of the film, making it a memorable experience that I highly recommend.

Vicious, Sexy, Badass - This is Park Shin Hye Like You Have Never Seen Her Before
Feminine rage has never been more delicious in this fast-paced, thrilling and hilarious wild ride of a drama helmed by a disgruntled she-devil who loves her sparkles as much as she loves murder. You can almost feel Park Shin Hye’s frustration for always being dubbed as a “mediocre actress” and “overshadowed by her male counterparts” because, this time, she came here without pulling her punches and was in it to slay it.
✔️Her character Justitia is an excellent anti-heroine. She is the female equivalent of the oppa of all oppas, an absolute bad girl in the best way possible.
✔️Selfish, violent, sadistic, cunning and utterly ruthless as she is, her prickly, fashionable, savvy self is also completely endearing. Park Shin Hye embodies her role beautifully and makes her 100% lovable.
There is a childlike sort of purity in this savage demoness as slowly her heart thaws and she starts to reluctantly care for people around her. Watching her gradually fall in love is literally the best thing ever.
✔️While Kim Jae Young is a new actor for me, he holds his own alongside her as the righteous, good cop with a golden heart. That said, he definitely feels like a glorified support role in PSH’s orbit and doesn’t have the wow factor where screen presence is concerned but that’s okay because the show obviously wants to focus more on the demoness.
✔️The pair has good chemistry together and the push and pull between them, along with the banter is fun to watch. However, the romance is a slow burn and almost feels like a friendship dynamic for most of the show with not much skinship.
That said, while PSH does serve her signature dry dead fish kisses in this, there is this one kiss where she is like “bet you didn’t see that coming”. I was almost shocked with how she nailed every aspect of this role.
✔️The drama doesn’t have a lot of filler and at 14 episodes, it does not drag. Each episode features a certain case and while I usually don’t like episodics, it was always great to watch Justitia put her lipstick and high heels on and mete out her own brand of manic justice in the most violent and blood pounding way.
✔️The action scenes were all well shot and while some sequences were longer than should have been, the overall element of CRAZY in all the action never let it turn boring. Park Shin Hye absolutely nails her fight scenes and comes out looking stylish, sassy and always on top.
✔️The supporting characters are entertaining, add excellent comedic value and don’t take up the screen time longer than is necessary.
✔️While the fantasy elements - with the ghoulish sound effects, the hilarious CGI and the wonky getups for the demons - are kind of funny and not that well done, it works because the show doesn’t take itself that seriously.
✔️The OST of this drama is always fun and “Sunmi’s Crossroad” absolutely stands out and brings the right amount of emotional impact when needed.
✅ Overall, the drama is VERY much fun and VERY much binge-able. There are some obvious plot holes but they can be ignored simply because of how entertaining the drama is.
So definitely recommended for a good time pass.

Slightly overrated if you ask me
So there are many reviews gushing about this drama. I feel a little meh about it.The drama delivers what the summary/introduction promises. Just that its almost only that much nothing more. plot-wise.
The world building in this drama was really lacking and left my head scratching.
It seemed really christian cosmos inspired, and what bothered me that they seemed to be using legit demon/-ve christian cosmos characters (idk really cause im not christian). I feal that they couldve made the names up for the 'aesthetic' that they clearly wanted instead of using actual ones- cause names carry power. And on the other hand they used only one +ve one.
Putting that point aside, many major plot points where left unanswered.
The show really showcases vigilante justice - tit for tat instead of reform. Large parts of screentime is given to FL just beating up various villains. The gore and blood are supposed to probably elicit a feel good response from the viewer. That made me a uncomfortable- especially since the pain of the survivors ('victims') isnt really the concern- their closure isnt really the concern, but just 'u did wrong so u'll pay for it' is. There arent many emotions involved. Its all very cold. And in this regard- there is a story arc, a character arc. We witness her becoming a feeling demon judge from a cold unfeeling judge from hell. She acknowledges that just beating criminals up and punishing them in the shadows of the night isnt enough to provide justice - closure to grieving families.
The romance in the show gets very little screentime, and is more present just to be a driving force behind her character arc. Her forbidden 'human feelings' for the ML become the reason she starts feeling empathy for aggrieving families and the people around her. All other side characters (including ML) are just present and doing their thing. There isnt much focus on them at all.
You should watch this show if-
1. You like vigilante justice, are ok with skipping forward or watching scenes of criminals just being beaten up, tortured and killed for their crimes.
2. Like wacky FL
3. ML is very smart and persistent. He is so secure that hes fine with dating a demon who's actions are quite often in direct conflict with his job. He's very clear with himself about his ethics system and boundaries.
4. Want to watch a mock- mystery thriller. the only thrilling part was the score. No need to apply brains. Infact it is better if u dont apply brains, otherwise u will notice too many plotholes.
5. The 'action' genre mention refers to the torture scenes ig.
6. Openish HE
Special mention to FL's character- why i watched the show-
I was obviously very unimpressed by the show. It also got really boring past few episodes. But what kept me from dropping it was Kang Bitna's sass. It was very fun and almost inspirational (minus the vigilante justice part). Especially the way PSH smiles/smirks with the score playing in the background, or her boredom and straightforward mannerisms of dealing with everyday boring situations was very endearing and refreshing. Kang Bitna is a 'psycho' , is a little socially challenged, but she is smart, not dull. There is also some comedic effect in the show with its various side characters, mostly in the scenes outside the courtroom and torture.
Special mention regarding 'vigilante justice'-
TBH what's shown in the show isnt really what comes to my mind when i think of vigilante justice - like robin hood. They mostly try to pass on torture as VJ. Criminals who are unrepentant, dont have ability to feel empathy or even comprehend why what they did was wrong, just torturing and morbidly killing them isnt going do anything. I wasnt going to type this out since this is just a show, but unfortunately this is the axial of the show which is baffling. Major screentime is given to these scenes. There remain lot of actual real world questions regarding this particular form of VJ, but be warned that it takes center stage in this show.

"Vai all'inferno"
Wow!!! This is such a standout K-drama with a truly unique theme.Park Shin Hye looking absolutely gorgeous throughout the show, her stylist did an incredible job with her wardrobe and overall appearance on top her incredible acting skills .. ❤️❤️
Jae-young Kim adding his own charm, his character have started developing intense in these later episodes.
The best thing about The show is its fresh take on the supernatural demon/angel theme. I mean Instead of the usual devil taking revenge or acting out of curiosity, This one has a devil with a clear mission: delivering pure judgment, makes the story more compelling and purpose. Plus the amount of gore, which you don’t usually see in K-dramas.
The graphic portrayal of justice adds a gripping intensity and love story is very much on the sidelines ... And focused on the main theme that is justice and retribution.
To me the highlight of this show is watching the devil make wrongdoers feel every ounce of pain and abuse they inflicted on their victims, not gonna lie this delivered a strange sense of satisfaction. It’s about absolute justice, and the way it’s delivered is both chilling and satisfying—you can't help but feel a strange sense of closure as each judgment is passed.
Ost and background music is bomb.
Edit : just finished watching ep 14 ...
The last episode was a blockbuster .. ultimate trial .. emotional climax ... And a huge wordrobe (17 outfits in single episode... kudos to sponsors and stylists) this episode had it all.
I CAN SAY THIS ONE IS MY FAVOURITE KDRAMA AND IT'S GONNA BE FOREVER. ❤️❤️❤️
